Phelps: barred 3 months, Kellogg will not renew contract

February 6, 2009

February 6, 2009

PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES: “I inhaled…frequently. That was the point.”

And now comes the professional penalties – as if the public shaming and blogging wasn’t enough. Don’t stop hounding him when he’s up and won’t leave him alone when someone brings him down. Source: CNN.

USA Swimming: withdrawing financial support for Phelps and barring him from competition for three months.

This is not a situation where any anti-doping rule was violated, but we decided to send a strong message to Michael because he disappointed so many people, particularly the hundreds of thousands of USA Swimming-member kids who look up to him as a role model and a hero.

Michael has voluntarily accepted this reprimand and has committed to earn back our trust.

Kellogg’s is not going to renew his contract. It was up at the end of February so it makes you wonder if it was a convenient way not to have to pay him more money. Kellogg is worked with the Olympic Team but did not renew their sponsorship in December. Maybe it was a Kellogg employee.

Spokeswoman Susanne Norwitz: Michael’s most recent behavior is not consistent with the image of Kellogg.

The U.S. Olympic Committee:

Michael has acknowledged that he made a mistake and apologized for his actions. We are confident that, going forward, Michael will consistently set the kind of example we all expect from a great Olympic champion.

Barry the bonger: “Pot had helped, and booze; maybe a little blow when you could afford it.”

body language: barry, biden and the Supreme Court Justices

February 6, 2009

February 6, 2009

I see I never posted this. It says a great, great deal. Now that I think of it I forgot to post the presidents in the Oval Office. That was extremely revealing.

On 1-14, barry and Biden met behind closed doors with the Supremes. Missing was Justice Alito, which was no coincidence. Their meeting is discussed here. I just want to talk about the body language, which is remarkable.

(Photo) barry, Justices John Roberts, John Stevens, Clarence Thomas, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, David Souter, Joe Biden

First off, the Justices do not seem grouped by political views. What is important is that there are five – what was needed to make the decision. barry and biden are holding on to the chairs like they have taken over – barry asserting his dominance by leaning over the chair with his two forearms. He is affable, but is embracing himself – separating himself from the group in a dominant way – he doesn’t need any of them. I don’t know whose chair that is but I would not be surprised if it was the Chief Justice’s.

Biden is an excellent subject to watch. There is never any doubt what he is thinking or feeling – even before he says it. He must have spent a lot of time cleaning blackboards as a kid. It’s what makes barry the most angry because he can’t mask Biden like he tries to mask himself. Watch barry’s reaction when Biden makes the joke about Justice Roberts’ memory. You’ll see a great deal of unmasking in barry’s face: anger, embarrassment, bewilderment and ruined birthday party. Whatever happened in this room barry owes Justice Roberts and that is why he was so angry – because Biden should have known better.

Biden has claimed his spot – to the left and across the table from barry, facing him at an angle. His hands are placed modestly on the chair but they are at the peak of the chair. He knows his place and has a firm grasp on it and is not about to let it go. His dominant hand is covered by his non dominant one. It is a subtle sign that he is trying to cover something up but he knows that’s what he needs to do to keep his position. The two of them are laughing and smiling at each other like we’ve got them now – we’re set. There is a distinct look of conspiracy – one they have had for a while – one they knew they were going to win. They have the judges flanked – literally boxed into the corner. Biden has his back to the dissenters – to his right and behind him. He doesn’t need them anymore. He has the Chief and the Senior Member in his and barry’s circle. It’s enough.

This is all quite fascinating really.

Now look at Chief Justice Roberts. He is to barry’s immediate left, very close, and just slightly behind him. Barry is leaning forward to make sure of his dominance, while appearing to be relaxed. Roberts is standing erect, asserting his dominance in his environment. His hands in front of him and away from his body, showing that if challenged, he would be able to stand his ground. He usually commands the room, but today he had been inched over and is a close second. He also is smiling, fully engaged and complicit on an equal basis. He has made his decision but is still unsure. (May explain the botched oath – that was not in any way a simple mistake.)

Next comes Justice Stevens. I don’t know anything about seniority but I would guess he is the most senior. He is comfortable in the space that he has been respectfully afforded. He is the most relaxed, amused in a bystander type of way, having seen it all. He is leaning barry’s way and has not completely closed himself off from the others – though he is in front of them. No one is a threat to him – nor does anyone find him threatening. He is the most intelligent person in the room, is curious, well-mannered and a very good listener. He’s drawn himself in toward Biden. No matter his views – my guess is he allows the most latitude. I would pick him to present my case to and I would make sure I was impeccably dressed and respectful but not deferential. His (great) grandchildren probably adore him.

I don’t know how the mechanics work, but I would guess he is the most hands on in actually writing his decisions. Here he has his left hand in his pants pocket but the jacket is still modestly buttoned. A sort of subtle collegial upper hand. Hands in the pockets is a distinct behavior of men of that generation. The elder Bush did the same but he had both hands in his pockets – very different.

Justice Thomas has made the loudest statement. He wants none of it. He is furthest away, and although boxed in, he is the focal point of the picture. The decision rested on him. Biden finds him threatening – he has his back turned directly at Thomas, who is directly in line with barry and looking right at him, waiting to take him on. This particular argument is not over. I bet Thomas holds a mean grudge. barry is protecting himself from Thomas with his right hand higher up on his arm. I wish I could see Thomas’ face better – but more importantly his hands. I wouldn’t be surprised if they were fisted. He is pretending to smile but is not looking at the one telling the joke. My guess that he never took his eyes off barry and barry didn’t look at him.

Justice Ginsberg is extremely physically weakened – her abdomen looks swollen and it looks she is trying hard to stay upright. She is holding her own as far as her position in the group – she is in the center by choice – but has pulled into herself in pain. She doesn’t even appear to be part of the proceedings – she is there because she is fulfilling a duty and knows her importance as a woman. Her face is a grimace and she is holding herself very rigid, tightly gripping her hands. When I first saw her, I saw pain, sorrow and impatience. I now know she has pancreatic cancer, which is very painful, and explains everything.

Justice Souter I know nothing about – well I don’t know any of them – but he doesn’t send off much of anything. Did someone put in a word for him or was he an alternative to someone? I see him as someone who can float but once he decides he is firm in his position. He was probably a loner as a kid and I would hazard a guess he doesn’t have strong people skills or a wide range of emotion – like a Quaker or Puritan type. I wonder if he has ever been married.

He has taken a spot and is rooted in it – his arms crossed in front of him – left hand not completely tucked in. I sense this is a normal way of standing for him – more self-protection than defensive. He’s looking down when a joke is being told – laughing despite himself and at odds with his posture. I sense he likes Biden and could easily be persuaded by him. I wouldn’t be surprised if he had a damp ineffectual handshake to a woman.

Most interesting is the fact that the other Justices are not in the picture. There is no way to conjecture why. What is clear is they chose not to be in the picture. It would have been interesting to see them in the flesh because I’ve only ever seen their names on dockets.

After this meeting, barry’s mood lightened – I noticed it before I was aware of the meeting. At the time, there were two cases before the Court (Lightfoot v Bowen and Berg v Obama/Biden), so the meeting was completely inappropriate and not at all required. Bush had not done it and Clinton and Gore reportedly made a production out of it, which I can’t imagine barry wouldn’t want to top.

There’s one thing that I have been wondering for months. Mr Bill said in his anger and frustration that after the Inauguration he would sit down and tell what was really going on. I have to wonder if that was why Hillary was picked for Secretary of State – we know courtesy of Dr Biden that she was ever considered for either initially.

Mitt Romney: barry the bonger sucks

February 6, 2009

February 6, 2009

MITT ROMNEY: [barry] is off to a rocky start.

The theme ‘Yes, we can’ seems to have been replaced with ‘Well, maybe we can’t.

I believe that with all the challenges America faces, the simple solutions and the hope that were sold by the Obama team are inadequate to the task ahead.

Who is the scumbag who took Micheal Phelps’ picture?

February 6, 2009

February 5, 2009

Rant alert

Yes. This again. I know I haven’t been able to post much in the last couple of days on barry because this has me so pist off. Who is the scumbag who took that picture? If they wanted press and notoriety then why aren’t they stepping up and saying they did it? And the British tabloid deserves to go out of business and the editor who made the decisions should go to prison for selling their soul. What a wonderful way to make a living.

All you other cowards who know – why aren’t you saying anything?

Scumbag, are you happy about what you did? Are you proud of yourself as an American – or are you one?

Do you see what your selfish actions have done?

How bad were you feeling about yourself that you had to do it in the first place?

Did you get what you wanted?

Will your children be proud of what you did? Your mother? Your brother? Your sister?

Clearly you are not proud of your actions or you would be standing proudly taking questions at a press conference. I hope you obtained that photo illegally and I hope you rot in hell.

Did you ever once, just once, think of what you were doing?

Did you ever have a thought, just one thought, of what would happen to Micheal Phelps’ mother?

Do you have a mother?

Would you want this to happen to her?

If you are so proud, come forth and show your face.

If you are so proud, come forth and tell your mother from a press conference how proud she should be of your actions.

If you are so proud, come forth and tell us why you were in the room in the first place and then tell us you did not have a hit.

Is that why you are hiding?

Are you waiting till the THC clears your system?

If what Phelps’ did was so criminal that you felt the entire world needed to know – then come forward and take a urine test. Give us a sample of your hair for testing. Stand up and tell us that you have never taken a hit off a bong.

Is that why you are hiding?

Then, tell us how you would feel after working your entire life to achieve athletic excellence only to have some scumbag with absolutely no morals – yes, no morals – sell a photo that could ruin your life and ruin the futures of kids you were going to help.

Did you think of that scumbag?

That there will be kids now who won’t be able to go to a safe place to swim because the funding was taken away by your selfish actions?

What have you gotten out of this?

How much money did you sell your soul for?

Did you even have a soul?

Does this really and truly make you happy?

Are you proud of what you’ve done and what has happened to someone who worked so hard to get there?

Are you a loser? Did you lose to Phelps?

I am so angry at you and even more so at the righteous people who say he should have known better and the absolute crazies who say it is a “pattern of behavior” after the Olympics.

Pattern of behavior? How many people have a pattern of behavior and dedication their entire lives only to have it taken away by a scumbag whose heroic act took one second?

SHOULD THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES HAVE KNOWN BETTER?

barry: Pot had helped, and booze; maybe a little blow when you could afford it.

Look at this picture and convince that is not a spliff.

(LISA JACK) Barry: I inhaled…frequently. That was the point.

Where is barry the spineless bonger?

Where is he standing up for Micheal Phelps?

Where is he saying: Hey, I’m the President of the United States, who all kids in America should look up to, and I did more than my share of bongs. Worse – I used cocaine on more than on occasion.

Instead, it’s barry the bonger, as usual, refusing to take a stand.

Refusing to stand behind a true American hero, who made a mistake – just like him.

How can you folks think barry is a man of anything other than words?

Hollister v Soetoro interpleader denied

February 6, 2009

February 5, 2009

Hollister v Soetoro

Civil Action No. 08-2254

Plaintiff’s motion to file interpleader and deposit funds with the court [#2] is frivolous and is  DENIED.

His motion to shorten time for the defendants to respond to his complaint [#3] is moot and is DENIED.

The motions of his counsel [#4, #5] for the admission pro hac vice of Philip K Berg and Lawrence J Joyce are IN ABEYANCE until the Court has had the opportunity, in open court, to examine their credentials, their competence, their good faith, and the factual and legal bases of the complaint they have signed.

It’s basically over. Berg and Joyce are not credentialed and pro hac vice means on this occasion only. The Court is not going to allow them to do anything. Not that it wasn’t over before it started. Once barry and biden met with the Supreme Court justices it was over. The question is why no one cares that the Supreme Court clearly prejudiced themselves…except for Justice Alito. Now that is a conversation I would like to have.

Mika “Mommy” Brzezinski

February 5, 2009

Mika “Mommy” Brzezinski lived up to her name today – although she usually references herself as “Mommy” to Barnicle, Geist, Scarborough, some of the regulars like Hardwood, Radigan and Halperin and the producer Chris Licht – so I guess she’s grand Mommy today. She interviews Sen Jim Webb (D-VA) with Licht’s son, Andrew, on her lap. Joe seems to have a bad case of the Irish Flu. He didn’t even seem to notice Andrew.

BARRY: Can we guarantee that they’re not going to try to participate in another attack?

No.

But what I can guarantee is that if we don’t uphold our Constitution and our values, that over time that will make us less safe. And that will be a recruitment tool for organizations like al-Qaeda.

Define “over time” and then define how many Americans one freed savage can kill and how many more fellow savages they can infect, who will then go on to kill….and kill…and kill…

If they don’t get out – they can’t kill.

If they don’t get out – they can’t recruit.

If they weren’t savages going in – they most likely are now.

And if there are some who still are not – they will become so or face beheading by their compatriots.

Is it going to be easy? No, because we’ve got a couple hundred of hard-core militants that, unfortunately, because of … some problems that we had previously in gathering evidence, we may not be able to try in ordinary courts but we don’t want to release.

You want to afford savages rights and due process? Was Senator John McCain afforded the same rights you plan on affording these savages?

You want to bring them to American soil? Then spend some of that bailout money on Alcatraz and bypass soil altogether. That would actually create some of those job you keep speeching about.

I have to make the very best judgments I can make in terms of what’s going to keep the American people safe and … what’s going to uphold our Constitution and our traditions of due process.

What type of judgment have you shown in picking cabinet members? “I screwed up” takes on a different meaning when talking about terrorists and innocent law abiding, tax-paying American citizens – the kind you seem, in your infinite wisdom, to be having difficulty finding.

And what I’m convinced of is — we can balance those interests in a way that makes all of us proud but also assures that we’re not attacked.

Bringing savages to the mainland would allow their fellow savages tangible access to them and would put every single man woman and child in the vicinity of that prison at risk — including natural born citizens whose sympathies might lie elsewhere or who might just be desperate enough for drugs, food, shelter, or medicine for their children that they would do something they would not have otherwise done if the situation hadn’t presented itself.

You, Mr President, would be willingly importing terrorism into the United States of America.

What’s in a (doll’s) name?

February 5, 2009

February 3, 2009

If there were Beanie Babies when Caroline Kennedy was living in the White House would there have been a Cute Caroline or Sweet Caroline doll?

Ty, Inc who had originally named their new “Ty Girlz” dolls “Sweet Sasha” & “Marvelous Malia” had to reissue new birth certificates (runs in the family). They are now “Sweet Sydney” & “Marvelous Mariah”.

Using their own daughters on 4th of July and in People magazine spreads and whatever else was ok as long as they were getting paid and as long as daddy needed votes. Guess they weren’t getting any proceeds from the naming rights. When was the last day you went without seeing obama something or other?

How long before there are Malia and Sasha Obamadolls with the doll clothes designed by the First Lady Obama?

The dolls still look the same, smell the same, weigh the same, wear the same clothing, have the same size breasts, cost the same and the same children have the same dolls as they had before.

So are they confusing their dolls (or themselves) by giving them a new name?

How much more money is Ty going to make because the little girls (and boys and moms and dads) just have to have the “new” dolls?

Dolls in development: “Ambiguous Amber” & “Aka Anika”

Still on the drawing board: Barry the action figure Obama.

Blagojevich on Letterman

February 4, 2009

February 3, 2009

Newly impeached Rod Blagojevich takes on Letterman. Good questions delivered with Dave’s usual in your face ha-ha disrespect. They’re all hoping their interview makes it into the trial. You can see how nervous blago is. Don’t blame him – every single media outlet loves barry ergo they hate blago. Imagine someone doing this to barry – whose people started it. Who has ever asked what barry said on those tapes? Can’t exchange anything if someone doesn’t come looking for something.

Transcript courtesy of Lynn Sweet.

Introduced with “I did in my way…”

Part 1

Dave: “Why exactly are you here, honest to God? (audience laughs)

Rod: (laughs) “Well, you know, I’ve been wanting to be on your show in the worst way for the longest time.”

Dave: “Well, you’re on in the worst way, believe me.” (audience laughs, applauds)

Rod: (laughs) “I sure am.”

Dave: (laughs) “There’s no getting around that.”

Rod: “Well, I figured I had to get impeached and thrown out of office to get the chance to get invited by you.

[...]

Part 2

throwaway71

Dave: “But now, and again, you’re dealing with a man who’s largely ignorant of these matters, but I was under the impression that the reason you were not able to appropriately defend yourself during the impeachment was because of the scheduled criminal trial that will take place in the spring, and therefore, without that on the docket, you would have been able to defend yourself I so assume with witnesses and whatever means at your disposal but because you will now face criminal charges, they would not allow witnesses in the impeachment. Is that roughly what happened?”

Rod: “That’s roughly what it is. They were alleging criminal activity that they were not required to prove up, they denied me the right to disprove it, and this is America where you have the right to confront witnesses and address false accusations, and my position was since you’re not going to do it, because the prosecutor has his agenda and that’s understandable, then take that off the impeachment and let’s move on and wait for the court case, and give me the same presumption of innocence that you enjoy, that Paul enjoys, and that all of your guests enjoy – the presumption of innocence and the right to confront accusers who are falsely saying things that you didn’t do.”

[...]

Dave: “All right, so what have we got? What are we talking about there?”

Rod: “Well, I mean, you know, again, that speaks for itself – there’s not a single criminal act in that conversation. I was afraid you were going to have some of those other tapes where I sounded like Christian Bale…” (audience laughs) “And had I known somebody was listening I would not have said some of those words, but these were private conversations with top staff.”

Dave: “But what is it – is money going to change hands?”

Rod: “Oh no, campaign contributions, commitment to raise money.”

Dave: “In return for some favorable treatment for the track owners?”

Rod: “No, absolutely not.”

Dave: “And why did you need the money before the end of the year?”

Rod: “The way the fundraising works is there’s two reporting periods: you report at the end of June, you report at the end of December. And then you ask people who are helping you to meet deadlines. And there was a commitment that had been made actually long before December of this year. And it was just to be able to get it in for the filing reports so you can disclose the contributions that you receive, everything that every politician does.”

Dave: “So we listen to that, and you’re saying to me that we want to hear the worst so we do hear the worst, but that little exchange couldn’t have been more innocent, is that correct?”

Rod: “I think that that speaks for itself and again, there are hours of conversations. If the whole story is heard, you’ll see a lot of different things and you know, the end result will show a decision and a process that was right for the people of Illinois. That’s why I’m certain of being vindicated.”

Dave: “So, in your mind, you’re fairly certain that after the criminal trial, you’ll be declared innocent and people will say, ‘Holy God, we bounced the guy. He was completely innocent. He really should still be our governor.’”

Rod: “Yes, I do believe that and I believe it will be a historic result. And I believe that impeachment that they did last week was a hijacking of a governor elected twice by the people without proving any wrongdoing, without giving that governor elected by the people, not so much about me, but the people who elected me, the right to be able to show that I didn’t do anything wrong.”

And of course the hair. At least he didn’t touch it like Joy Behar.

Dave: “Do you use shampoo and conditioner?” (Rod, audience laugh; audience applauds) “Or is it two separate – because they’ve got a thing, I use it.” (audience laughs, applauds)

Rod: (laughs) “Right.”

PART 3

throwaway71

DL: “All right. Rod Blagojevich. How do you — I don’t know in terms of protocol whether I address you as Governor, because you in fact did hold the office for a term and a half. Or if I refer to you as Ex-Governor. But what is it – how does it feel like to be introduced as the former Governor of Illinois under the circumstance? It must hurt, right?”

RB: “Of course it does. It’s obviously not something I planned on. And everything changed when this happened in early December. But you know, you get up every single day and you keep embracing the truth, and you’re confident of what the result will be and you’ve got to stand strong.

[...]

DL: “And when did you first learn of the investigation?”

RB: “Um…first, and let me say this, the U.S. Attorney, the prosecutor – and I used to be a prosecutor, and I view them as the good guys. And I keep thinking that maybe one day, you know, I’ll wake up and they’ll realize that this is just one big misunderstanding. But they’ve been scrutinizing Mayor Daly in Chicago, they’ve been scrutinizing me, as well as other politicians. And that’s not necessarily unhealthy. Cause it keeps everybody to make sure they do things right. But this really began some time – I first learned of it, I think back in 2004.”

DL: “And why were they looking into your activities then?”

RB: “Not mine, they were looking at a friend of mine – a contributor of mine, and other political figures – on some of his activities. And that was the first inkling of it.

He is talking about Tony Rezko – the very same Rezko that barry was involved with. The very same Rezko who barry bought his house with when Rezko was already under investigation by the very same people blago is being investigated by. The very same Rezko whose indictment barry was named in. The very same Rezko who was barry’s first and primary fundraiser and who raised at least $250K for barry (as an official barry campaign finance advisor) in his US senate run — $10k directly from a pay to play scheme for which Rezko was convicted. Up until a few days ago (until the impeachment was finalized), Rezko was still in solitary confinement to get him to talk. Problem is, whatever Rezko reveals can be traced back to barry. It’s why Rezko refused to cooperate with the feds initially and why he has been in solitary confinement for months. Wake up folks. When you laugh at blago for getting involved with play to play while he’s under investigation – barry did the same thing and used the money to finance his Senate Seat in the first place

DL: “And what was your reaction then? Were you outraged? Or just business as usual? Or what did you think?”

RB: “No, the first thing I did was I had our Inspector General – an independent Inspector General, that hadn’t existed before I was Governor – we created that through the law. Then State Senator Barack Obama helped pass that law. [pay to play]. This friend [rezko] is the friend who is very close to Barack Obama as well. And when I learned of this, the first thing I did was I told my Chief of Staff to have the Inspector General investigate it. And look into it. And then events unfolded and –”

[...]

DL: “Now did that – was that before or after you learned you were under investigation?

RB: “This was a little bit after that. And let me say, it wasn’t that I was under investigation, the first inkling, it was that the supporter [REZKO] was. It wasn’t me.

DL: “I understand. So how are things with you and Dad now? (audience laughs)

RB: “He’s reaching out to his daughter and his grandkids. And wants to be helpful during this hard time.”

DL: “And has he owned up to it? Has he acknowledged that, “Yeah, I called him in because I was upset about you closing down…”

RB: “No, He retracted the -”

DL: “Oh, so he retracted it.”

RB: “He retracted it a few weeks after it all happened. Look, when you do something like that, you open up a whole hornet’s nest and a Pandora’s box and it’s hard to put those furies back in the box.

Didn’t disappoint – he got his literary reference and the Elvis is coming.

PART 4

DL: What will you be doing now between this moment and the beginning of the trial?

RB: Well, I’m looking for work. Are you hiring?

DL; Yeah. Are we ever.

RB: This looks like a fun place to work.

DL: Oh it is – it’s nothing but fun.

RB: Elvis performed here, didn’t he?

DL: That’s right.

RB: …1956?

FORMER ILLINOIS GOVERNOR ROD BLAGOJEVICH ON THE “LATE SHOW with DAVID LETTERMAN”

Dave: “Listen to this, last week, having been impeached after six years as Governor of Illinois, our first guest was removed from his post and banned from ever again holding elected office in that state. And you think you had a tough week. (audience laughs) Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome Governor Rod Blagojevich. Here we go.”

(Paul and the orchestra play “My Way” as Blagojevich comes out; he and Dave shakes hands)

Rod: “Well, I figured I had to get impeached and thrown out of office to get the chance to get invited by you.”

Dave: “I was looking down the records here. Otto Kerner, Democrat, governor of the state of Illinois, convicted on 17 counts of bribery, conspiracy, perjury and charges related to accepting bribes. Daniel Walker, Democrat – he was convicted in 1987 of improprieties related to the First American Savings & Loan Association bank, sentenced to seven years, governor. Governor George Ryan, currently serving a six and a half year prison term at a medium security prison and is scheduled to be out – he’ll be out and walking around 2013 (audience, Rod laugh) “Now, I mean, is this just part of the oath of office that you guys take?” (audience and Rod laugh, applauds) “I mean, what – how is this possible? What is that?” (audience laughs, applauds)

Rod: “Well, when you read it that way, it’s obviously a dangerous thing and had I known that when I ran the first time, I wouldn’t have run. I’d have stayed as a congressman. But I’d like your listeners to know and everybody in Illinois and anyone else who’s listening that unlike those, I’ll be vindicated.” (some audience laughter) “I did nothing wrong.” (audience laughter) “I did nothing wrong. And I’ll have an opportunity to be able to go in a court to prove that I did nothing wrong.”

Dave: “Now, here’s my impression, and I’m not a pundit or an expert, but I saw you – I saw you on ‘The View,’ I saw you on the Rachel Maddow Show, I saw you on the Today Show, I saw you, I think, every other show that is in production currently,” (audience laughs) “and the more you talked and the more you repeated your innocence, the more I said to myself, ‘Oh, this guy is guilty.’” (audience, Rod laugh; audience applauds) “Now, are you – my point is in having such a high profile during this, you run that risk. Now, I’m not saying I’m everybody, but I had that impression.”

Rod: “Well, I can appreciate your position but consider a circumstance that might involve your life. Let’s say hypothetically there was another guy who had a talk show on another station from in Burbank, let’s say he came from New Jersey. And let’s say, let’s say he said you weren’t funny and he had 20 reasons why your Top Ten List sucks, would you want him just to get away with that or would you want to be able to say it simply isn’t true? And I can just tell you that it’s a very difficult thing that I’ve gone through, unimaginable, unexpected, unanticipated and I assert my innocence because it is the truth. And the alternative is to sit in some corner, hide, cower in the fetal position and assume – and accept what people are saying that you did and you didn’t do it and I didn’t do it, and at the appropriate time, I’ll have a chance to prove that.”

Dave: “Right, so why not wait for the appropriate time?” (audience laughs, applauds)

Rod: “Well, I get that, yep. I appreciate that. No, I appreciate that. But, again, walk a mile in my shoes – let’s say people were saying all those nasty things about you and your lawyers are telling you’ve got to wait for your court date. At the same time, you’ve got two little girls – I have a 12 year old and a 5 year old. And they’re hearing things about their dad that aren’t true. It’s very, very difficult to simply sit there and accept the things they’re saying about you, taking things out of context and twisting it and to not say, ‘It isn’t true and I’ll prove it’s not true,’ and I had a chance at my impeachment trial last week in Illinois to bring witnesses, everybody involved in this who I talked to about the senate seat, I wanted them to come in and under testimony, sworn, tell the truth. I wanted every one of those wiretap conversations heard, not two or three, but every one of them. I wanted the whole truth out, and if they would have allowed me that, I could have begun the process of vindicating myself sooner.”

Dave: “And why was that not allowed at the impeachment?”

Rod: “It was a political dynamic – there was a decision made to remove me. There’s a lot of reasons, and among them is – and I say this to the people of Illinois – I believe my fellow Democrats are going to raise the income tax. That was one of the reasons to get me out. Obviously, this is a political problem for the Democratic party. And, then of course, the other party sees this as an opportunity to embarrass our party. So there were a lot of dynamics that converged, and as a result, I was denied the right to bring in witnesses to prove my innocence.”

Dave: “Now, when you say the Top Ten List isn’t funny?” (audience laughs)

Rod: “No, I didn’t say that. I didn’t say that. I said, ‘Assume someone accused you.’

Dave: “Okay, all right.”

Rod: “No, I think they’re very funny. I can give you 20 reasons why I believe that.” (audience laughs, applauds)

Dave: “Right now, other people will say, ‘Well, what he’s doing now, he’s working on the jury pool for the spring trial. He’s trying to plead his case, trying to prejudice a group of people so that it will be difficult to get an impartial jury for that trial. Anything?” (audience laughs)

Rod: “No, um – your audience obviously likes you, everything you say, they laugh at. And that wasn’t all that funny, with all due respect.” (Rod, audience laughs)

Dave: (looks at camera) “What? (audience laughs)

Rod: “The trial is probably going to be a year from now, it’s not anywhere near imminent, so what I’m doing here is I’m just doing the best I can to clear my name. I have daughters who have a right to know that their dad didn’t do some of the things they’re saying I did and I’m appealing to the American people to just give me the basic fairness that they would expect for themselves.

Dave: “Now, let’s just say – I’ve heard a lot of these excerpts, these tapes and we have a little bit of audio tape here, and I think it’s you on the phone talking to your brother who is Rob, is that correct?”

Rod: “Right.”

Dave: “Right, you’re Rod, he’s Rob, and you’re talking about a guy name Johnny Johnston who’s a race track operator in Chicago and apparently there’s some favor to be done, some money to exchange for a favor that he might want you – does that ring a bell with you?”

Rod: “Well, I mean, I can’t talk about the details but – because that would be inappropriate based on the case, but when all of those tapes are heard – and again, I wanted those heard last week in the impeachment trial, all of them. I’m the anti-Nixon. See, during Watergate, Nixon didn’t want any of his tapes heard because he had something to hide. Me, I want the full context heard so people understand what this was about. I had conversation with US Senators, with congressmen; I had conversations with all of the different people alleged in that criminal complaint. Let all of them testify under oath about the truth.”

Dave: “So, now, as I recall, there were 13 articles of impeachment leveled against you. So you’re telling me each one of those was a misunderstanding? Each one of those was something out of context?”

Rod: “I’ll be happy to talk about some of them. First of all, they didn’t prove up any – not asingle wrongdoing, not one act of wrongdoing. Secondly, they were not allowed to prove any criminal allegations, which they couldn’t anyway because I didn’t do anything wrong – I wasn’t allowed to disprove it. Then they impeached me on going to Canada and getting safe and affordable prescription medicines for our senior citizens. I was the first governor to do that – save 30, 40 50% for seniors on their medicines. The governor of Wisconsin followed me, the governor of Kansas followed me, the governor of Vermont followed me. I worked with John McCain and Ted Kennedy on this issue. So if they’re impeaching me on helping our seniors with safe and affordable prescription medicines, then they ought to expel John McCain and Ted Kennedy from the senate. That’s one of the articles they impeached me on.”

Dave: “And, but, what you’re suggesting, regarding these articles, that they were all misunderstood, and the audio clips, that they were all somehow out of context. Is that a fair enough explanation of your defense here?”

Rod: “Well, presumably, there’s hours and hours.”

Dave: “Well, let’s listen to this thing and you tell me whether it’s out of context or not. And tell us what we need to know. Go ahead and set up the clip. (audience laughs)

Rod: “You want me to set up the clip? (audience laughs)

Dave: “Yeah, you set it up – this is you and your brother talking about Johnny Johnston, right?” (audience laughs, applauds)

Rod: “I don’t know. I don’t know, I haven’t heard it.”

Dave: “Let’s take a listen here:” (conversation is played and chyrons appear on screen)

Rob: “Uh, I talked to Lon, and uh he says Johnny Johnston’s good for it.”

Rod: “OK.”

Rob: “He’s gonna give you…ya know, he didn’t get it. But he said, ya know, I’m good for it. I gotta just decide what, what uh, accounts to get it out of. And Lon’s gonna talk to you about some sensitivities legistlatively tonight when he sees you. With regard to timing of all of this.”

Rod: “Right – before the end of the year, though, right?”

Rob: “Oh, yeah. Yeah, yeah.”

Dave: “Do you use shampoo and conditioner?” (Rod, audience laugh; audience applauds) “Or is it two separate – because they’ve got a thing, I use it.” (audience laughs, applauds)

Rod: (laughs) “Right.”

Dave: “We’ll be right back with Rod Blagojevich everybody.”

But you know, you get up every single day and you keep embracing the truth, and you’re confident of what the result will be and you’ve got to stand strong.”

DL: “Right. Do you know Patrick Fitzgerald? Do you know him? Have you spent any time with him?”

RB: “I’ve met him a couple of – once or twice I’ve met him.”

DL: “And he’s the guy that’s leading the investigation against you. Is that correct?”

RB: “Right.”

DL: “And people, myself included, believe that it all began when Barack Obama became President-Elect Barack Obama, leaving an empty Senate seat. But actually, the investigation has been on-going for quite some time, hasn’t it?”

RB: “Yes, it has.”

This friend is the friend who is very close to Barack Obama as well. And when I learned of this, the first thing I did was I told my Chief of Staff to have the Inspector General investigate it. And look into it. And then events unfolded and –”

DL: “And so you get a knock on the door one morning and it’s the FBI, they’re coming to arrest you. I mean, what was that? What time did that happen?”

RB: “It was a little after six in the morning.”

DL: “Six AM.”

RB: “Yes.”

DL: “So you’re thinking – what do you think?”

RB: “Well, I went to bed the night before feeling good about the future. Knowing what I was going to do – “

DL: (laughs) “I’m sorry, but boy oh boy.”

RB: “Yeah, looking forward to the holidays. Yeah. I hear ya.”

DL: “Feeling good about the future…”(yawn) “I think I’ll sleep in tomorrow.”

RB: “That’s right. I laid my running clothes out that night. Because you want to have those psychologically in there in the cold, dark morning -”

DL: “Motivator…get up and go.”

RB: “Yeah. Get up and go. My alarm was set for six o’clock. It went off. I told my wife, ‘Five more minutes.’ Then before the five more minutes was up, the phone rang. And it was the FBI agent and I thought it was a joke. And I thought it was either one of my staffers or a friend. And then he insisted it wasn’t. And then the head of the state police detail, who I know, said, ‘It’s not.’ And then they came up and the rest is history. And, let me say this, had they called, I would have been more than happy to go down and address the issues.”

DL: “Sure. And you’re familiar with the joke: The former Governor is in Illinois Prison, down in wherever it is, the federal penitentiary there in Illinois. And he’s working with another inmate and the inmate says to him, ‘You know, Governor, the food was better when you were Governor.’” (audience laughs)

RB: “I don’t know that joke.” (Rod, audience laughs)

DL: “Maybe I screwed that up. Maybe I oughta be impeached!” (audience, Rod laugh) “And what is the possibility of some misunderstanding with your father-in-law? That’s intriguing to me. Tell us about that. What are we talking about here?”

RB: “Well, hopefully, out of terrible circumstances there’s an opportunity sometimes to repair relationships but, you know, Chicago and Illinois are rough and tumble places. It’s obvious based on some of the things you’ve alluded to already. You know, I have a father-in-law who’s a Chicago alderman. And, you know, in the political process, people have expectations of you. And if you were to ask me what my biggest disappointment is – having been Governor is, that the expectations of people who supported you were not as pristine or idealistic as yours were. There wasn’t the high purpose to do things like healthcare for children, free rides for senior citizens, things that we’ve accomplished for people in our state under me as Governor. He was involved in a landfill that had gone, that we had heard was violating some environmental rules. This would have been late 2004. And I had a duty as the Governor to act and not look the other way. On the advice of the EPA, I shut the landfill down. It ultimately went to court. The court sided with us, kept it shut down until they can clean up the environmental issues. He got angry at me and made some accusations, publicly, that created some -”

DL: “Now did that – was that before or after you learned you were under investigation?

RB: “This was a little bit after that. And let me say, it wasn’t that I was under investigation, the first inkling, it was that the supporter was. It wasn’t me.”

DL: Boy oh boy. You – I really wouldn’t give your troubles to a monkey on a rock.” (audience laughs) “Allright. We’ll be right back with Rod Blagojevich, everybody.”

Financial wizard and Secretary of the Treasury (IRS) nominee, Tm Geithner, tries to blame Turbo Tax for his “common mistakes”. He is testifying as the present Head of the New York Federal Reserve Bank and pretends he doesn’t know how to file taxes. The scary thought is what if it is true?

What did Micheal Phelps do that the President of the United States has not already done?

February 4, 2009

February 3, 2009

1-Did not snort cocaine.

2-Won 8 Gold Medals in the Olympics.

3-Mentions and thanks his mother at every turn.

What did Micheal Phelps do that three presidential candidates, a present US Senator and former presidential nominee, an adulterous former vice presidential candidate, and a well-regarded Reverend?

4-Admitted it right away.

What has Micheal Phelps done that two presidents have not done?

5-Always treated his opponents with respect.

[harvesteroftruth2]

John Kerry, Rev Al Sharpton and adulterer John Edwards admit to smoking marijuana on camera during a 2004 presidential debate – barry to an interviewer.

Barry: I inhaled…frequently. That was the point.

So what is the big deal with Micheal Phelps smoking a bong?

Why the double standard?

Marijuana, if you aren’t aware, is not exactly a performance enhancing drug. He was not using it (if in fact he was) during a time in which he was competing. He has had 100% clean drug testing and he has to be the most tested athlete in Olympic history.

Want to talk about Olympic athletes?

Girls as young as 11 were competing for China in the Olympics. Forget what they say – they had their ages printed in China’s own papers the year before. A simple examination of their teeth would have definitively proven they weren’t 16. At least one still had her teeth coming in.

Did the IOC demand dental or bone xrays?

No. China manufactured birth certificates.

I think The American People know how birth certificates can be gotten around or forged or whatever you choose to believe. And yet the ineligible to compete Chinese gymnasts have gold medals that it appears will never be taken away because no one wanted to “embarrass the host nation”.

What is that teaching children, including the gymnasts themselves?

What type of Olympic role models are they?

And what did our government do to Marion Jones while Roger Clemens was testifying (rhymes with lying) and demonstrating his red-faced Roid Rage and blaming his wife like the Hall of Famer he should never become?

What about all-time home run leader – asterisker Barry Bonds?

Sammy Sosa and Mark McGuire? Ricky Williams?

What did Phelps choose to do that they did not?

1-Admitted to it upfront.

2-Did not take performance enhancing drugs.

3-Did not have to cheat to reach an athletic excellence that most likely will never be matched – even by him.

And why does anyone care if in fact he tried to prevent the photo’s release?

Who in their right mind wouldn’t?

What was done to keep this despicable photo from getting out?

Can you name this high ranking member of barry’s White House?

The one on the left pulling the hair and cupping the breast of a life-size image of the nation’s highest diplomat and former barry opponent, while his buddy in the official OBAMA STAFF t-shirt was kissing her and putting a beer to her lips?

None other than 27 y/o Chief White House speechwriter, JON FAVREAU, who will be writing the words the President of the United States will be reading from the teleprompter to the world.

Any wonder why there were no inauguration words addressing the mistreatment and exploitation of women throughout the world?

And what words did he use to apologize?

The same ones he wrote to attack Madame Secretary Hillary Clinton day after day for 18 months?

Was he man enough to apologize face to face?

Did barry hold him accountable?

No. He allowed Favreau to “reach out to her” in an email that was never published or proven to exist.

Real men, aren’t they?

What would have happened if it were Michelle’s tit?

Would he have still had a job – let alone been appointed Chief White House speechwriter?

As if.

Phelps at least made his words known to the entire world:

I engaged in behavior which was regrettable and demonstrated bad judgment. I’m 23 years old and despite the successes I’ve had in the pool, I acted in a youthful and inappropriate way, not in a manner people have come to expect from me. For this I am sorry. I promise my fans and the public it will not happen again.

And the cowardly scum who sent the picture should be outed and disgraced in public and in the blogosphere – if they haven’t already. They wanted their 15 seconds of shame – then they should get it.

Is nothing sacred anywhere?

How many other scumbag sellouts have been hovering around him just to do something like this?

What did they get for the photo vs what Micheal Phelps stands to lose?

What effort and discipline went into a one second cowardly photo vs the years of hard work, sacrifice and discipline to represent our country in the highest sports arena there is?

Phelps has started a foundation to get children to exercise and be productive – to get them into a safe environment – to help them build their self-esteem and combat obesity, which leads to high blood pressure, diabetes, heart attacks and strokes to mention a few.

Isn’t that what barry wants? Disease prevention?

Who is actually doing something about it instead of telepromptering words written by tit-grabbing infantile pig?

What are the chances Micheal Phelps would ever even think of disrespecting a woman like that? Any women – least of all the former First Lady of the United States?

What is more important: a hit off a bong or a lifetime of respect for women?

Did the scumbag who took the picture consider the potential loss of funding when they made their selfish, spineless choice? If they wanted their 15 seconds of shame and some dirty cash then why aren’t they coming forward and admitting to it?

You “just say no” folks think Phelps is a bad role model and should be arrested?

And barry?

How many kids look up to the President of the United States?

How many of Phelps’ sponsors donated to barry?

Have you ever heard barry the bonger and coke snorter make a single Public Service Announcement?

Has he read his own words to kids?

Dreams From My Father: A Story of Race and Inheritance — Barack Obama, President of the United States:

Pot had helped, and booze; maybe a little blow when you could afford it.

Have you ever heard him in his staged reading sessions to kids mention that the “evils of drug use” include smoking and Nicorette use?

Has he admitted to them that he is and has been addicted to nicotine for decades?

That nicotine is more addicting than marijuana?

That nicotine has serious health risks not associated with marijuana use?

Has he spoken to them about the effect his continued smoking has on his daughter with asthma? About the message he is sending to her and children everywhere by continuing to ingest/inhale nicotine?

What message did the picture below send to children?

Smoking is cool?

Smoke and you can be president, too?

Kids know what a joint is, how it is smoked and how a person’s eyes look when they are smoking it.

Try to convince a kid that is not a spliff.

Regardless of what it is – he is smoking.

How is that being a role model to anyone?

And the title of the magazine?

PERSON OF THE YEAR: BARACK OBAMA

(LISA JACK via Huffington Post)

And Phelps?

How many kids does he talk to a year? How many kids watched the Olympics?

How many kids will he reach up close and personal in his lifetime?

What better lesson could they learn than even the best swimmer in history makes mistakes, the importance of owning up to them, to sincerely apologize, be held accountable, vow to do better and then follow through with actions?

See any of the aforementioned athletes doing that?

barry’s Cabinet picks?

What does a kid learn by watching the President of the United States appoint a man who will be in charge of punishing those who do not pay their taxes when he hasn’t paid them himself or been punished because of it?

And what better relationship does a son have with his mother?

A mother whom he credits 100% for his success and thanks her at every turn?

A mother he has never abandoned – nor she him?

Did the scumbag factor that in?

Marijuana has been used for centuries -as far back as 2700.years ago. Now it is thought to be an alternative medication for ADD, which Phelps has. If he lived in California, he could get marijuana out of a vending machine.

DEA JUDGE, FRANCIS L YOUNG:

Marijuana is the safest therapeutically active substance known to man… safer than many foods we commonly consume.

And the British tabloid editor should rot in hell. It is reminiscent of the nasty brits who see fit to pontificate about American politics – including blueblood and cookbook author Richard Wolffe, Chris Hitchins the self-proclaimed “pisser” aka drunk, and Andrew Sullivan, who admitted he is HIV positive and that he solicited unprotected sex and yet criticized President Clinton and wanted Governor Palin’s medical records released because he is unable to count to nine.

I digress.

Both the University of South Carolina and Columbia, South Carolina police have said they would not pursue charges but the Richland County Carolina Sheriff”s Office wants to get his 15 seconds of shame. That is all it is. South Carolina state law.

SHERIFF LEON LOTT: If someone breaks the law in Richland County, we have an obligation as law enforcement to investigate and to bring charges. The Richland County Sheriff’s Department is making an effort to determine if Mr. Phelps broke the law. If he did, he will be charged in the same manner as anyone else. The sheriff has a responsibility to be fair, to enforce the law and to not turn a blind eye because someone is a celebrity.

Don’t they have rapists, murderers and pedophiles in Richland County?

Husbands beating their wives, children, mothers and sisters?

How many rape kits and restraining orders could be processed with the time and money spent investigating this ridiculousness?

Yo, Sheriff, since it seems you have nothing else to do, want to talk about things needing investigation?

Such as those committed by adult married men with children, who have been in public positions of influence for years and who confessed only because they were seeking top positions in the United States Government? Positions they were appointed to by the President of the United States who claimed “superior judgment” as his basis to be Commander in Chief.

Did our now president display superior judgment at Micheal Phelps’ age, when he was sucking on his own bong and snorting coke through those dollar bills he said doesn’t resemble?

For whom did you vote, Sheriff?

For the man who, because of his admitted drug use, could not even do your job?

For the man now responsible for the DEA, FBI, CIA, ATF, USAF, Army, Navy, Marines, Coast Guard, Homeland Security, NSA, Secret Service, US Marshals and Intelligence agencies?

For the man who rewards criminal and reprehensible behavior with prestigious positions in his Cabinet?

What in your professional opinion, Sheriff, are the chances the admitted tax evaders will be ever be investigated and what do you think their punishment should be?

Is the Justice Department turning a blind eye because of barry’s celebrity?

And would their little letters and much too late only because they were caught public apologies work to keep them out of jail in your jurisdiction?

The Honorable Max Baucus – Chairman
The Honorable Charles Grassley – Ranking Member
Committee on Finance
United States Senate
Washington, DC 20510

Dear Chairman Baucus and Senator Grassley:

Thank you for the work you and the Committee are doing to move forward on my nomination by President Obama to be Secretary of Health and Human Services. I know that despite the heavy workload from both the Economic Recovery Act and SCHIP, as well as all the nominees the Committee is handling, your staff has worked diligently on my nomination. I also appreciate the strong commitment to fairness you both have expressed.

As you can well imagine, I am deeply embarrassed and disappointed by the errors that required me to amend my tax returns. I apologize for the errors and profoundly regret that you have had to devote time to them. I will be happy to answer any Committee members’ questions about these issues. In the meantime, as a follow-up to our conversations, I would like to briefly review three issues discussed at my meeting with your staff and mentioned in our meeting on Thursday.

Last fall, when I was being considered for this position, the Presidential Transition Team’s vetters reviewed my records. During the course of those reviews, the vetting team flagged charitable contributions they felt were deducted in error. When my accountant realized I would need to file amended returns, he suggested addressing another matter I had raised with him earlier in the year: whether the use of a car service offered to me by a close friend might be a tax issue. In December, my accountant advised me that it should be reported as imputed income in the amended returns.

At about the same time, the friend’s company, a consulting client, informed my accountant of a clerical error it had made on the Form 1099 it provided to me and reported to the IRS for 2007. In an effort to ensure full compliance and the most complete disclosure possible of my personal finances, we remedied these issues by filing amended tax returns with full payments, including interest. We provided all this information to the Committee in addition to the completed Committee questionnaire and my responses to your staff’s questions. I disclosed this information to the Committee voluntarily, and paid the taxes and any interest owed promptly. My mistakes were unintentional.

I am available to answer any further questions you might have and look forward to coming before the Committee in the very near future to discuss the critical health and human services issues facing our country. Should I be approved by your Committee and confirmed by the Senate, I look forward to working in partnership with you both to pass meaningful legislation that will help Americans get the health reform they need and deserve and to ensure that all HHS programs and activities reflect a commitment to responding to the needs of our citizens in a manner that is compassionate, cost-effective, and transparent.

Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Tom Daschle

I didn’t know…I’m embarrassed…I apologize…the presidential vetters vetted me…(and Favreau and Richardson and Geithner and Killefer and ?)…and when my accountant realized…I remember I raised the issue a year ago…(but did nothing)…at the same time a friend informed my accountant of a “clerical error”…I disclosed the information voluntarily…(after I got caught and realized I might not be confirmed)…paid “promptly”…it was unintentional…I’m available for question…(now)…I’ll do a good job for The American People…(and believe it or not)…commitment to responding to the needs of our citizens in a manner that is compassionate, cost-effective, and transparent.

ps. Had I not been caught I would never have rectified anything.

Octuplets: Publicist Joann Killeen on Larry King

(3-10) Octuplets: Updated list of  posts

Octobirther’s publicist, Joann Killeen, was on Larry King tonite. She was retained Jan 30th. She says octobirther is “covered” as far as her hospital bill, that she’s “a very balanced woman”, that she was a “working professional,” “not on welfare” and was “living on her own” and “able to provide for her six children prior to being pregnant with eight children”.

Transcript:

JOANN KILLEEN, PRESIDENT, KILLEEN FURTNEY GROUP: They’re doing great, Larry, absolutely great.

KING: Mother and children.

KILLEEN: Mother’s doing well. The children are off ventilators, they’re breathing on their own. They’re doing really, really well.

KING: How are they paying for all this?

KILLEEN: How are they paying for what?

KING: Medical bills.

KILLEEN: Well, she’s a Kaiser patient. Kaiser Permanente. So…

KING: She’s covered.

KILLEEN: She’s covered.

KING: For all of it?

KILLEEN: She’s covered.

KING: How is she — is she married?

KILLEEN: No, she’s not. She’s a single woman.

KING: How old are the six children that she’s had previously?

KILLEEN: They range from age 2 to age 7. She now has 14 children under the age of 8. She has 10 boys and four girls.

KING: Do the six have the same father?

KILLEEN: They all have the same father.

KING: And what — first of all, how did you come to represent her?

KILLEEN: We’re a public relations firm here on the West Side. We have a good reputation. We’re known for doing great work, and compassionate and ethical practice…

KING: She retained you personally?

KILLEEN: Yes, she did.

KING: Tell us about her.

KILLEEN: She — my client is a wonderful woman. She’s smart, she’s bright, she’s articulate, she’s well educated. She’s got a degree. She’s working on her masters degree. She is just a delight. And I can’t wait for the media to get to meet her.  She is very, very excited about the miracle of the birth of her eight children. And she’s really looking forward to being the best mom that she can possibly be to 14 children.

KING: Does she have any doubts about all this?

KILLEEN: I don’t think she has any doubts. I mean, once she had the…

KING: No?

KILLEEN: … ultrasound, and you know, initially everybody thought she was going to have seven. And you can imagine seven babies inside. And they weren’t quite ultrasounds (ph). You know, they move around, you can’t see anything. So the miracle was the day that she had the c-section and the doctors were in the operating room, and they thought they were finished. They said, well, wait a minute, there’s a little hand in there. So the little one put his finger on the surgeon’s glove. And they said, oh my gosh, there’s another one. And they weren’t really ready for eight. So they quickly had to get, you know, ready for eight in the surgery suite.

KING: Why would someone — I guess she will eventually do media?

KILLEEN: Yes, she will.

KING: Why would someone with six children, six children, want more?

KILLEEN: Well, you know, this is part of the story that she’s going to tell. I mean, she was hoping to have seven children. That’s something that Nadya always wanted to have. And she got the surprise, like everybody else. She got a few more.

KING: Did she at all — is she at all aware that a lot of people are criticizing this?

KILLEEN: Yes, she’s aware of it.

KING: And how is she reacting to that?

KILLEEN: You know, she’s a very balanced woman. She’s got perspective. She really wants to tell her story. And I just want to set the record straight and let everyone know that the rumors and the innuendoes and what I call the creative ideas about what’s going on with her in her life, you know, are just not true.

KING: Let’s cue them up. What’s not true?

KILLEEN: It’s not true that she is being paid multiple millions of dollars for going on the media. She is not doing a talk show in London. She is not going to have her own reality show about how to be a mom. I mean, all those stories that people are making up are just not true.

KING: How about “People” magazine?

KILLEEN: Larry, everybody’s called me. I have been retained as of Friday night. I have multiple packages and proposals to review. I told everybody that’s called me — and of course, everybody wants me to make a decision yesterday, what are we going to do. So I’m looking through every single proposal and I am going to sit down with my client this week and say, here are the pros and cons. You know, where do you want to go? How do you feel most comfortable? And you know, which one of these media do you want to go to and tell your amazing story?

KING: Now, of course, television doesn’t pay. Although some might, right? I don’t…

KILLEEN: Well, none of the major studios pay. This is a news story. So nobody’s made any kind of offers for money.

KING: Is monetary part of her goal here?

KILLEEN: Absolutely not. And she wanted me to set the record straight.

KING: Please.

KILLEEN: She is a working professional. She was able to provide for her six children on her own prior to being pregnant with eight children. Now, she was a health care professional before these new ones came. She wants everybody to know that she’s not on welfare, has no plans on being a welfare mom, and really wants to look at every opportunity that she can to make sure that she can provide financially for the 14 children that she’s responsible for now.

KING: Still a lot more to learn. She does live with her parents though, right?

KILLEEN: No, she lives on her own. As you know, she’s been in the hospital for quite a few weeks on bed rest, anticipating the birth of the children. Her parents are helping out with the children right now, because obviously Nadya is still in the hospital. So her mom and dad, the grandparents, are taking care of the little kids, making sure they get to school and get on the bus, and everything else that you would do for little ones.

KING: How do the six feel about the eight?

KILLEEN: Well, they’re excited, but you know, typical kids, they think the eight new playmates are going to come home. They don’t understand that they’re tiny and they’re little and they’re not going to be playing Legos and coloring. I mean, it’s going to take a while for all of them to be able to play together as a group.

KING: Thanks, Joann. Hope to see you soon.

KILLEEN: Thank you, Larry. Thank you.

KING: Joann Killeen, the publicist for Nadya Suleman, the mother of 14.

barry tax cheat #3: Nancy Killefer

February 3, 2009

February 3, 2009

Nancy Killefer barry’s nominee for the first ever Chief Performance Officer (no confirmation) and Deputy Director for management at the Office of Management and Budget (requires confirmation) has withdrawn her name. She is third behind Tim Geithner and Tom Daschle as barry appointed tax evaders – though hers could actually be a simple mistake. Not so with the other two.

Killefer, 55, who works for consulting giant McKinsey & Co., was nominated on Jan 7th and was outed by the AP. In March 2005, she had a $946.69 tax lien placed on her home for failure to pay unemployment compensation tax on household help over a period of 18 months. She paid it in July. Nothing compared to $128K and $34K that went unpaid until after they accepted the nomination. One wonders if there was more to it because she waited so long to withdraw.

From Brietbart:

Killefer oversees McKinsey’s management consulting for government clients. During 1997-2000 in the Clinton administration, Killefer was assistant Treasury secretary for management. As such she was the chief financial officer and chief operating officer for the Treasury and its 160,000 employees and led a modernization of its largest component, the Internal Revenue Service.

But for nearly a month, the administration had refused to answer how its choice to make government workers more efficient and more responsive had bungled her household payroll taxes.

And what about the Head of the IRS and former Head of the New York Federal Reserve bank being audited and still not rectifying his taxes?

Whatever – she did the honorable thing. The financial wizard can’t even do his taxes and blames it on TurboTax. And he’s going to save the economy? And Daschle made a reported $5.2 million off the industry he was supposed to clean up.

Where’s this superior judgment? Seems it expired in November 2002.

barry spokesman Tommy Vietor:

Nancy Killefer has decided to withdraw her nomination, and we accepted her withdrawal.

So how thorough was this 63-point questionnaire?

Sir Richard Branson offering Capt Sully a job

February 3, 2009

February 1, 2009

Evidently Sir Richard Branson, billionaire daredevil and founder of Virgin Atlantic Air was so impressed by Capt Sullenberger (and the flight crew no doubt) that he gave him an offer he can’t refuse?

Quotes from the Daily News RUSH & MOLLY with Leah Sydney via JEN CHENG at the Gothamist:

RICHARD BRANSON: Every single thing he could have done right, he did right — from the second he made that decision not to go to that local airport, to put the plane down in the water, to the way he looked after everybody.

I’d like him to come fly for us. We’ll make him the best-paid pilot at Virgin — we’ll give him double [the salary of] anybody else. He also can become one of the astronauts in my intergalactic spaceship company. The man can write his own ticket with me.

Intergalatic spaceship sounds straight out of the Jetsons. And I imagine even the non-best paid pilots make some serious cash. But Sully loves Danville, right? American hero moving to the UK? Branson was awarded (1-22) the “Living Legends of Aviation Award” and he said of Sullenberger:

I hope he gets this award next year.

SULLENBERGER: That’s amazing. I hadn’t heard that. I will be happy to entertain all the things that are coming my way.

Sir Richard Branson

Withdrawal Letter

Source:

I have just informed the President that I am withdrawing my name from consideration for Secretary of Health and Human Services.

To be chosen by President Obama to run the Department of Health and Human Services and to lead the reform of America’s health care system is one of the signal honors of an improbably career.

But if 30 years of exposure to the challenges inherent in our system has taught me anything, it has taught me that this work will require a leader who can operate with the full faith of Congress and the American people, and without distraction.

Right now, I am not that leader, and will not be a distraction. The focus of Congress should be on the urgent business of moving the President’s economic agenda forward, including affordable health care for every American.

We need the best care in America to be available to all Americans. We need this effort to succeed. Lives and livelihoods are at stake.

I will not be the architect of America’s health system reform, but I remain one of its most fervent supporters. Thank you.

barry’s statement on Tom Daschle:

This morning, Tom Daschle asked me to withdraw his nomination for Secretary of Health and Human Services. I accept his decision with sadness and regret.

Tom Daschle has devoted his life to public service and health care reform, so that every American has access to health care they can afford. I had hoped that he could bring this passion and expertise to bear to finally achieve that goal, which is so essential to the progress of our economy and the well-being of businesses and families across our nation.

Tom made a mistake, which he has openly acknowledged. He has not excused it, nor do I.

But that mistake, and this decision, cannot diminish the many contributions Tom has made to this country, from his years in the military to his decades of public service.

Now we must move forward, with our plan to lift this economy and put people back to work.
