Donofrio v Wells
Docket # 08A407

Donofrio was suing the New Jersey Secretary of State for not making sure barry was constitutionally eligible based on dual citizenship/allegiance at birth from the British citizenship (Kenya under colonial rule) conferred on him by his father, before he was placed on the ballot.

US SUPREME COURT STAY CLERK DANNY BICKELL CONTINUES SABOTAGE OF NJ CITIZEN LAW SUIT CHALLENGING 08 ELECTION

As of 9:53 AM, November 13, 2008, the Docket for US Supreme Court case # 08A407 has still not been updated to reflect the fact that the case…

Leo C. Donofrio v. Nina Mitchell Wells, Secretary of State of the State of New Jersey

… now before the US Supreme Court comes directly from a final decision as to the emergency matter issued by the highest court  in New Jersey which is the Supreme Court Of New Jersey.  Mr. Bickell has consistently attempted to stop this case from being docketed properly.  And in doing so Mr. Bickell has subverted and defiled the esteemed Rules of the US Supreme Court, particularly Rules 22 and 23.

Mr. Bickell knows that, for my case to have proper standing before the US Supreme Court, I am required to exhaust all of my lower court options, which I have done.  My case was originally brought in the NJ Appelllate Division where it was delayed, subjected to misconduct and eventually denied on October 30. Then on October 31,  I brought the same action to the NJ Supreme Court.  The Supreme Court also denied my application for Emergency relief, but in doing so, the NJ Supreme Court, by the hand of the Honorable Justice Virginia A Long, relied on “movant’s papers” which contained a Constitutional issue of first impression as to the “natural born citizen” clause of Article 2, Section 1, of the Constitution of the United States. (See below.)

Bickell and the docket:

Regardless, after numerous attempts to reason with Mr. Bickell, he still refuses to update the Docket for US Supreme Court case # 08A407 to include any reference to the NJ Supreme Court decision.  Instead, Mr. Bickell lists only the Appellate Division reference which is an incomplete record of the procedure of this case.

And in so doing, Mr. Bickell is very aware that any Justice of the Supreme Court who may take an interest in this case might come to an erroneous conclusion that the case is prematurely before the US Supreme Court. This is one of the many dangers inherent in Mr. Bickell’s sabotage of this case.

Sound familiar:

Mr. Bickell, through his illegal actions, has now taken control of the Docket at the United States Supreme Court and in so doing, Mr. Bickell is operating such Docket under his own brand of martial law.  Mr. Bickell’s actions are no less than a declaration of war upon the Rules of Supreme Court practice.

I am calling for Mr. Bickell to be fired from his position and for him to be arrested by the Justice Department for criminal abuse of power and dereliction of duty. Mr. Bickell needs to be put under oath and questioned in a court of law as to the motivations behind his drastic attempt at overthrowing our legal system of justice and to see if there are other conspirators involved with him in this attack on our highest court’s authority.

If this lowly clerk can single-handedly deny justice according to his own whim and deceit, than the highest court in our land is effectively subverted to the cause of injustice.  And such a house divided cannot stand.  What you are seeing today, via Mr. Bickell’s blatant deceit and judicial treachery, is a direct attempt to change the fabric and ability of justice as we have always known it This rebellion from the Supreme Court Rules of Court, if allowed to stand, will signal the beginning of the end of our Constitutional form of Government.

If, after having reviewed the documents and legal arguments at this site, you believe, as I do, that Mr. Bickell should be thrown out of his office at the US Supreme Court, then please call the US Supreme Court and speak your mind.

US Supreme Court Clerk’s office: 202-479-3011
Stay Clerk, Mr. Danny Bickell: 202-479-3024
Public Information Office: 202-479-3211, Reporters press 1

Folks did – Danny lived on to mess with Lightfoot.

10:00 Donofrio comment:

This is an intellectual declaration of war by the Clerk’s office.

10:28 Comment:

Mr. Bickell is a traitor and I imagine he is not alone.  Perhaps some may be feeling the truth of this situation, that the US Supreme Court has been invaded.  They are making a gambit here that this will blow over and perhaps Mr. Bickell and his posse believe they will be shielded by pardons down the roadRegardless, my documents prove that they are willing to lie, cheat and deceive the public about this case.

11:16 Comment:

There’s an enemy of the people in the Supreme Court Clerk’s office and if this case does nothing else but expose that enemy of “We The People” then this case will have served a noble purpose.

11:43 UPDATE:

Mr. Danny Bickell, stay clerk of the US Supreme Court, has finally corrected the Docket for US Supreme Court Case No. 08A407, Donofrio v. Wells, to reflect that this case has come to the US Supreme Court directly from a final order denying emergency relief by the New Jersey Supreme Court.  Having this case properly docketed is a major procedural necessity to the case having proper standing to be decided in the US Supreme Court.

Even though it was docketed, he had to still deal with Danny.

1:31 UPDATE:

Now that the Docket reflects that my case has followed proper procedure through all possible lower court jurisdictions, I will resubmit the application for an emergency stay of the national election to Justice Clarence Thomas.

Supreme Court Rule 22(4) (operating in tandem with Rule 23) gives me the right, by law, to resubmit the Application for Emergency Stay to “any other Justice” once the original stay application has been denied.  According to the Docket, and a letter I received from Mr. Danny Bickell, Justice Souter denied the stay application on November 6th.

One wonders if Justice Souter ever even saw it.

So, according to the Rules, I may now resubmit the application to “any other justice.”

However, there is still one issue which must be dealt with before I resubmit the stay application.  Rule 22 (4) requires that I write a letter to the Clerk indicating which Justice I am renewing the stay application to.  This letter is supposed to go to William Suter, Clerk of the US Supreme Court, but the “stay clerk” is Mr. Danny Bickell and I’m certain that the renewed stay application will go directly through him.

Once the “Clerk” receives it, Rule 22(1) prescribes the following duty to the Clerk in relation thereto:

Rule 22. Applications to Individual Justices

* 1. An application addressed to an individual Justice shall be filed with the Clerk, who will transmit it promptly to the Justice concerned if an individual Justice has authority to grant the sought relief. (Emphasis added.)

This means that the original stay application should have been submitted to Justice Souter on Mon. Nov 3rd, the day I filed it, the day it was stamped. But it wasn’t “transmitted promptly”, it was disposed of promptly by Mr. Bickell, and it was disposed of wrongly. Eventually it was actually transmitted to Justice Souter, but only after I read Mr. Bickell the riot act.

Ponder this; if Mr. Bickell had been intially correct in disposing of the stay application on Monday Nov. 3rd, then why did he eventually Docket it and submit it to Justice Souter on Nov. 6th?  The answer is obvious. He was wrong to have disposed of it, and he was wrong to have failed to notify me of such disposition and he’s been wrongly trying to dispose of it in one way or another ever since.

Did Justice Souter actually sign the letter?

I anticipate that Mr. Bickell will be handed my renewed “application for an emergency stay” by interns in the Clerk’s office, even though, technically, according to Rule 22(1) the letter accompanying the application must be addressed to the “Clerk”.  The Clerk is “William K Suter”.

Please send Mr. Suter letters indicating that you, as an American citizen, are outraged at the disrespect and sabotage this case, Donofrio v. Wells, US Supreme Court Docket No. 08A407,  has been subjected to.  Mr. Suter’s address  is:

William K. Suter, Clerk
United States Supreme Court
Office of the Clerk
Washington, D.C. 20543-0001

Explains the legalese Bickell ignored:

When you write your letters to; Justice Thomas, the other Supreme Court Justices, and Clerk Suter, it would be good to include a paragraph explaining that the case reflects a matter of vital public importance, depends on a genuine Constitutional issue of first impression, is coming directly from the NJ Supreme Court and is relying on the “stay application” precedent issued by the most Honorable Court in Bush v. Gore, 531 U.S. 98 (2000):

“Governor Bush and Richard Cheney, Republican Candidates for the Presidency and Vice Presidency, filed an emergency application for a stay of this mandate. On December 9, we granted the application, treated the application as a petition for a writ of certiorari, and granted certiorari.”

Unfortunately, Mr. Bickell failed to recognize the precedent set in that case when he initially refused to pass on my “stay application” to Justice Souter on Nov. 3rd.  When I spoke to Mr. Bickell on Nov. 6th, he told me my stay application should have come with a “Full Petition for Writ of Certiorari”. It was this decision which delayed Justice.  This was a decision of substantive law made by a clerk who subverted the authority of the US Supreme Court.  And his decision, despite being an act of direct insubordination, was also legally flawed.

Are these clerks lawyers? If so, are they allowed to have independent thought?

As was done in Bush v. Gore, also a Presidential election case involving an emergency, the Supreme Court, in its wisdom, recognizing the exigency of the circumstances, decided to relax its formal requirements and instead, the Honorable Court, in granting the Stay, decided to accept the less formal Stay Application as if it were a full Petition for Writ of Certiorari, and then they granted Certiorari.

This was the precedent I was proceeding under. Had Mr. Bickell followed the Supreme Court Rules, Justice Souter would have received my emergency Stay Application on Monday Nov. 3rd, shortly after 4:30PMBut Mr. Bickell didn’t Docket the case until Nov. 6th, and only after I protested vehemently.

I wonder if the following words were caught on tape:

While arguing with me, Mr. Bickell told me that it didn’t matter what I did or what law I cited, “Justice Souter will just deny it…and Justice Thomas will also deny it.”

According to the Docket and Mr. Bickell’s letter, Justice Souter apparently denied the Stay Application on that same day.

Had Justice Souter denied it on Nov. 3rd instead, and had Mr. Bickell then followed Rule 22(6), which says that I was to be informed of the “disposition” of the case  “by appropriately speedy means”, i.e., a phone call, then I could have resubmitted the Stay Application to Justice Clarence Thomas at 9:00 AM on Nov. 4th, Election Day, and since the case was bi-partisan, and at that time there was no winner, Justice Clarence Thomas could have granted the stay, stopped the Election, brought in the whole Court, and decided the “natural born citizen” issue before the voting was done.

I did everything in my power to see that this was the case, and Mr. Bickell did everything in his power to see that this wasn’t the case.

And that’s why your letters are still needed Mr. Bickell needs to understand that Justice Clarence Thomas and the rest of the Court will be aware that this case is on its way to them and that if anybody is going to deny the stay application – “We the People” – demand that it be a genuine US Supreme Court Justice and not a clerk impersonating a Justice.

So if the allegations are true – Danny boy Bickell highjacked the Stay so the election would be official. He does his job, he knows the “first black president” is not going to be deposed after 67M folks voted for him. And barry’s lawyers knew no judge would challenge him and that once Justice Roberts swore barry in it would be over.

The only unknown was the reaction of the non-obamerized American People. And that’s were the pro-barry press came in — to downplay the challenges to his eligibility and to ridicule and attack the “birthers”.

And it seems they got so complacent with the “blond bimbo Russian immigrant dentist woman with the online law degree” that she was able to directly question the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court with cameras, keyboards and audio blazing.

Yo, Danny, how goes it?

Updated list of birth certificate posts

I’ve read more legal crap in the last however months and it always ends the same way: denied.

Bottom line: the case is moot, the petitioners failed to identify a duty the respondents failed in performing, it’s too late anyway and the subpoena was too broad and was not properly served.

How did they not know that?

barry should have been served 5 days in person/10 days by mail prior to serving Occidental college – they were served on or about the same day.

Did not see anything about financial penalty.

Keyes et al v Bowen et al

Case No.:  34-2008-8000096-CU-WM-GDS

Honorable Michael Kenny:

1.    Application of Robert Bauer to appear as counsel pro hac vice GRANTED.

2.    Secretary of State demurrer is SUSTAINED WITHOUT LEAVE TO AMEND.

3.    President Barack Obama et al. demurrer is SUSTAINED WITHOUT LEAVE TO AMEND.

4.    Motion to quash the subpoena is GRANTED.

The eye opener:

“appropriate remedy for an issue concerning the qualifications of a President is an action before the United States Congress pursuant to the Twelfth Amendment to the United States Constitution and 3 U.S.C. section 15″

For specifics:

•    Petition fails to state a cause of action against the Secretary of State.

•    Petitioners have not identified any authority requiring the Secretary of State to make an inquiry into or demand detailed proof of citizenship from Presidential candidates and she had no “ministerial duty” to demand proof.

•    “in the manner directed by the Constitution” does not provide an affirmative duty on the electors to discover whether the candidate is a natural born citizen.

•    Secretary of State: the petition is moot and there is no judiciable controversy insofar as it relates to the 2008 General Election.

•  The controversy is not “ripe” because 2008 is over and would only apply to 2012 and beyond.

•    It is too late for relief against the Secretary of State and the California Electors as to the 2008 General Election.

•    Elane Huber — Elane Haber (something about appointing a dead elector) just a typo.

•    Petition does not state facts sufficient to constitute a cause of action against any of the named Respondents.

•    Although petitioners allege that documents, statements or other lawsuits raise questions about whether President Obama is a natural born citizen, it does not allege that either the President or the Vice President has failed to perform any mandatory duty under either state or federal law.

•    [Mandatory I get – but he has a moral duty to show his birth certificate and no one can argue around it. He says it’s “not about him”, but when The American People want to know and have him prove it - he resists. He is anything but transparent.]

•    Court has no jurisdiction over the subject of this action.

•    That procedure is for objections to be presented before the United States Congress pursuant to 3 U.S.C. section 15. Petitioners’ belief in the importance of their arguments is not sufficient to confer jurisdiction upon this Court.

•    Petitioners have not shown that any of the documents sought could assist in answering the natural born question.

•    The subpoena and the associated notice to the consumer were improperly served.

•    This lawsuit is moot as to issues concerning President Obama.

Orly Taitz hand delivers documents to Justice Roberts (3-13)

March 22, 2009

(cyberattack deleted – recovered from cache)

See links below for audio/video

March 15, 2009

Orly Taitz personally traveled to University of Idaho where Chief Justice Roberts was speaking. She decided that since Justice Scalia wasn’t familiar with her case, Roberts might not either. Giving him the papers in person would bypass Danny Bickell, Roberts’ clerk, who was the one responsible for taking down her case from the Supreme Court docket.  We noticed it as did thousands of other people. They don’t even try to hide what they’re doing. I have a post somewhere on what the clerks did to Donofrio and Wrotnowski. Donofrio’s clerk intentionally misfiled and Wrotnowski’s papers got sent for Anthrax quarantine.

John Grisham couldn’t write this stuff.

She had a suitcase full of documents for Roberts. Her said he would read them. And the exchange was recorded on video, on audio, in print and probably on you tube. [see below for links] And then there were the hundreds of live witnesses, including the chief justice of the Supreme Court of Idaho, the president of the Idaho State Bar and university officials.

From defendourfreedoms.us [spacing and punctuation added]:

My name is Orly Taitz, I am an attorney from Southern California.

I left home at three o’clock in the morning and flew and drove thousands of miles to talk to you and ask you a question:

Are you aware that there is criminal activity going on in the Supreme Court of the United States?

I have submitted my case Lightfoot v Bowen to you – you agreed to hear it in the conference of all 9 Justices on January 23.

Your clerk, Danny Bickle, on  his own accord, refused to forward to you an important supplemental brief. He has [sic] hidden it from you and refused to post it on the docket.

Additionally, my case was erased from the docket – completely erased – one day after the inauguration – only two days before it was supposed to be heard in the conference.

Outraged citizens had to call and demand for it to be posted.

On Monday, I saw Justice Scalia, and he had absolutely no knowledge of my case that was supposedly heard in conference on January 23rd.

It is inexplicable, particularly knowing that roughly half a million American citizens have written to him and to you, Justice Roberts, demanding that you hear this issue of eligibility of Barack Hussein Obama aka Barry Soetoro to be the President of the United States.

Bam. Say what you will about the origin of her law degree – she made a damn good argument in 165 words.

A crime is being committed in the highest court in the land, in front of the highest justice in the land, involving the highest office in the land.

This is what happened, this is what should have happened, here is the clerk’s name and here are the documents – please read them.

After all this time, it has finally gotten to the point to where it can no longer be ignored. The media maybe – but not by the Supreme Court.

The documents:

  • Motion for reconsideration of Lightfoot v Bowen with all the supplemental briefs.
  • Quo Warranto Easterling et al v Obama et al
  • 3300 pages of the names on the WorldNetDaily petition.
  • A copy of a 164 page dossier and all the other documents sent to Eric Holder describing the suspected criminal activity associated with Obama and his supporters.
  • A descritption of cyber crimes, intimidation, harassment, defamation and assassination of character, impersonation of US army officer Scott Easterling and impersonation of her.
  • Screen shots of information being erased from the docket of the Supreme Court.
  • Information of court cases being fabricated in order to commit voter fraud and sway public opinion.
  • A list of a 100 addresses for barry with different social security numbers, issued all over the country and attached to those addresses.
  • Address barry used in Somerville Massachusetts, attached to the social security of a man who is 118 years old.
  • Indonesian school registration: Barry Soetoro, Citizen: Indonesia, Religion: Muslim.
  • Evidence of barry lying under oath. [Don’t know what this is specifically]
  • His registration to become an attorney and officer of the court in Illinois, where he stated under oath that his name is Barack Hussein Obama and he had no other prior names.
  • [I don’t think this is a problem. The form is about any other names after he joined the bar, such as name changes and marriages. As far as I understand it, he was not swearing that he had no other aliases before he became a lawyer.]
  • NOTE: Barry’s law license is not active and Michelle’s is on a mandatory inactive status.
  • Report from Federal Agent Steven Coffman re: evidence of forgery on barry’s Selective Service Certificate.
  • Letter from Sandra Line re: evidence of forgery on barry’s COLB.
  • Her pleadings
  • The WorldNetDaily petition with approximately 350,000 signatures plus some individual letters.
  • 130 current job positions for  Barry Obama, Barack H. Obama and Michelle Obama obtained from Intellius Jobs.com.
  • None of which were reported on Obamas’ tax returns.

I wouldn’t suggest you google it. I just went to look and as soon as I typed it in google I was disconnected from the internet.

Justice Roberts:

I see you have papers. I promise you I will read all your papers, I will review them. Please give them to my Secret Service and I will review all of them.

Secret Service Gilbert Shaw went and found a box and took them from her:

Give me all the documents, I promise you Justice Roberts will get them.

Mission Accomplished.

Congratulations, Dr Taitz.

March 15, 2009

Well Orly Taitz made her way to Moscow, Idaho to deliver her documents in person to Chief Justice Roberts. Assisting her efforts in Moscow was a Mr Richard Holley.

TAITZ: I especially wanted to thank Mr. Richard Holley, our Patriot in Moscow Idaho, who printed out thousands of pages of the World Net Daily report. He printed my pleadings of Easterling et al v Obama, he also stood in line for hours at the auditorium, as I was flying and driving, so I will have a good seat and would be able to address Justice Roberts.

I have to mention that it was hard for Mr. Holley, as he has a disability and walks with a cane, yet he did it.

Thank you Mr, Richard Holley from the bottom of my heart.

And thank you, Mr Holley, from all us here.

AP reporter’s take on Taitz’s exchange with Justice Roberts

March 22, 2009

(cyberattack deleted – recovered from cache)

March 15, 2009

Chief Justice John Roberts was in Idaho Friday (13th)  to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the University of Idaho School of Law and he gave a speech about Abraham Lincoln. Afterward, Orly Taitz hand delivered her documents to Chief Justice John Roberts – through the hands of the Secret Service of course.See links  below for her version of events -this is an AP reporter’s view. Take note of his tone.

From the Seattle Post-Intelligencer NICHOLAS K. GERANIOS:

Chief Justice John Roberts discussed the legal prowess of President Lincoln during a university lecture Friday and fended off an audience member who advanced the widely discredited theory that Barack Obama was not legally qualified to be president.

Widely discredited? By whom?

At one point during the audience question period, Orly Taitz, a woman from Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif., said she had documents proving that President Obama was not born in the United States and thus could not be president. While audience members laughed, she said she had half a million signatures of people demanding the Supreme Court hear the matter.

“A woman”? Guess he doesn’t know she is a lawyer and a dentist – just some lady.

Roberts cut her off by saying that if she had documents with her, she should give them to security officers. He also said he could not discuss the issue.

And then he throws this in as if it means something. He doesn’t name the case or the judge.

Earlier this month, a federal judge in Washington, D.C., threw out a lawsuit questioning Obama’s citizenship, branding the case a waste of the court’s time.

Taitz said students and teachers came up to her afterward to ask why they could do.

This is Orly Taitz on her blitz assault on Chief Justice Roberts at University of Idaho. She calls out Danny boy Bickell, Supreme Court “Stay” clerk, who I imagine is trying to get his ducks in a row. This was on. And as of yesterday. Roberts had done nothing and Taitz’s cases were not on the docket – this time because they haven’t gone up not because they were taken down. Wonder how long Roberts will string this out? And what is Scalia doing about it?

She states on her website that she will be in Washington this Monday (23rd) with WND Editor Joseph Farah and she is hoping to talk to Eric Holder. No way that is going to happen. Not unless she wears a hat or a wig. The SS know exactly who she is now.

Missing Orly Taitz posts

March 22, 2009

March 22, 2009

The last 12 or so posts tagged with “Orly Taitz” have been completely deleted from our site. I’m not sure the exact number and I have yet to see what else is missing. I have no idea why. We have nothing to do with any type of litigation and as far as I know we are not even mentioned on her site and we certainly have nothing to do with her personally. We go there to get information that we then provide it here, if relevant.

We have been censored by Google and Technorati and had our posts lifted in parts or entirely and reposted without attribution (which I don’t understand but can’t stop) and had our posts go unlisted in the tags – but there has been no direct assault as far as we noticed.

All of us are politically neutral. I am not a registered voter and have no candidate. Our site was established to prove media corruption, which we did, unequivocally. And in the process, we discovered what a complete and utter fraud barry is.

I am sorry that a great deal of you find it upsetting, but it’s not our fault – it’s barry’s – and I ask that you please leave us out of it.

If you didn’t like my open letter to you – then why didn’t you just stop at deleting just that?

It has gotten out of control. You want to attack someone – attack someone who has the power to attack back. None of us are out knocking on doors, making harassing phone calls, serving subpoenas, executiong search warrants or picketing the Supreme Court.

We use our minds to question and our words to speak – that is all.

What is it you hope to accomplish?

Bothering us is like swatting a mosquito when you’re surrounded by a swarm of killer bees. Put your head down and run is my advice. The lies are mounting, the evidence is being gathered and the facts aren’t going to change. And none of it has anything to do with us.

Do you really think a man, who could risk eternal humiliation for his precious daughters, cares anything about you? Look who he’s already thrown under the bus for his ambition.

I have called Geek Squad, who will be looking into today’s happenings. I would suggest that whoever was having fun, cease and desist. No tracking is ever done on commenters – we do nothing with the email addresses entered – if in fact they are real – so if you feel the need to attack, please do it with words. Continue calling us racists and whatever else to make you feel better. Just please refrain from messing with our words.

ps. If the posts are somehow put back, I’ll chalk it up to an early April Fool’s joke, and leave it at that.

Updated list of birth certificate posts

March 22, 2009

Have you ever asked yourself why the birth certificate issue bothers you so?

Why you have to write post after post of ridicule and personal attacks on a “bleach blonde immigrant dentist posing as a lawyer with an online degree” in an effort to defend someone you voted for but know nothing about?

Who is it you think you are helping?

The soldier in Iraq following the orders of a man ineligible to give them?

And if that soldier happens to kill an innocent child in the performance of his duty and later learns the Commander in Chief’s order were unconstitutional?

Is that who you are helping?

How much time have you spent researching Orly Taitz and the rest of the “birthers” vs listening to barry’s words and comparing them to his (in)actions?

How many posts have you written about the tinfoil-wearing sore losers vs barry’s reversal on bringing the troops home like he promised you to get you to vote for him?

How does it feel to be used to push legislation through for him when he hasn’t admitted to you he knew about the bonuses before he took office? That he knew exactly what was going on?

Does truth in any form matter to you?

How do you reconcile his claims of transparency when he is/has been/will continue to refuse to provide even the most basic of records?

Do you not have any natural curiosity as to why a 47 y/o man refuses to release his medical records?

Or why a self-proclaimed brilliant man won’t release his school records?

Or why a man, who pandered his humble beginnings and said he only just recently paid off his school debt, won’t release his college records, specifically financial aid records?

Do you not care to know the truth?

How are you going to feel when it is finally revealed that he is ineligible to be president?

You who gave up your job or skipped a semester so you could campaign for him?

You who donated precious money?

And those of you who have strained personal, family or work relations because of this election?

Why does it not bother you that a man claiming transparency is anything but?

Why does it not bother you that he laughs at his deception – of you – while you work hard to keep the deception from being revealed?

Why do you feel the need to attack like you did during the election?

He’s already won, hasn’t he?

Have you ever, in the quietest corner of your mind, wondered about any of this?

Have you ever allowed yourself to ponder what it would mean if it were true?

It would mean that a lawyer, constitutional lecturer and US Senator knew from day one that he was ineligible.

It would mean that he willingly allowed the former president and first lady to be labeled racists.

It would mean that he willingly allowed a man, who has served his nation for 55 years, including being a POW for five of them, to be compared to George Wallace.

It would mean that he willingly allowed a pregnant teenager to be attacked just so he could win something he knew he was not eligible for.

It would mean that his wife willingly placed her ambition ahead of her young daughters’ future.

It would mean that he lied to each and every one of you and that you in turn promoted and protected a liar and a conman.

It would mean Hillary Clinton was knowingly, and with malice and forethought, kept from becoming president of the United States.

And it would mean that each and every one of you, when given the chance, preferred to remain blinded.

yo, barry, you talked the trash, now back it up, and bowl

March 22, 2009

March 22, 2009

barry compared his pathetic able-bodied, able-minded bowling skills to the Special Olympics – assuming Special Olympians automatically must suck because they are intellectually challenged. See link below to watch him say it laugh about it.

Not only is barry ignorant – he’s ignorant. Bowling is a popular sport among Special Olympians and is ranked in the top 5. And at the top of the heap is 35 y/o Kolan McConiughey from Ann Arbor Michigan who has bowled 5 perfect games (just since 2005), three in competition, has had an 800 series and who carries a whopping 212 average.  That’s some skill – for any body, any mind or combination thereof.

From AP’S COREY WILLIAMS:

With an IQ less than half of the 100 considered average, [Kolan] McConiughey lives with his foster mother and has held the same job at a grocery store for 16 years. He greets customers, sweeps floors and maintains the store’s break room.

His foster mom, Jan Pardy:

He can’t read much, can’t do math, can’t do bill-paying. Kolan faces all these challenges, but he has an area of genius, and his genius is bowling.

What does Kolan think about barry?

He bowled a 129. I bowl a 300. I could beat that score easily.

Gotta love it. His advice:

I’d tell him to get a new bowling ball, new shoes and bring him down to the lane. Keep his body straight, his arm straight and keep his steps straight. He has to practice every single day.

And what does President of the Special Olympics in Michigan, Lois Arnold, think?

It would be an honor for him [Kolan] to bowl with the president of the United States.

Yes. It would. And it has to happen. In the White House bowling alley with the cameras blazing – Live. He has time for the NCAA brackets – he has time to promote the Special Olympics and get spanked doing so.

Check out the competitors.

Where are barry’s own words of apology on his Special Olympics “joke”?

March 21, 2009

MARCH 21, 2009

I’ve looked and cannot find evidence of barry’s own words of contrition. I could very well be wrong but I don’t think so.

All we have heard are two lame “apologies”.  Burton calling it “an offhand remark” and Gibbs a “thoughtless joke”.

A joke. He still refers to it as a joke – still he doesn’t get it.

And then there’s Mr Tim Shriver, Chairman of Special Olympics, telling us on GMA and Andrea Mitchell that barry has apologized and we are left to take his word for it.

Why?

Was Shriver the only target of barry’s disgusting statement?

Was barry just referring to Shriver’s (lack of) intelligence, and therefore, lack of physical ability?

Was he just referring to the Special Olympics organization and board members?

We’ll never know until we hear barry speak. Until we hear words of sincere apology coming from the lips that essentially referred to Special Olympians as physically limited r*t*rds.

And if Mr Shriver were to say ni***r? Would he just apologize to barry?

So why not apology?

Why hasn’t Leno’s audience heard barry’s words so we can decide for ourselves his contriteness? Burton’s and Gibbs’ “apologies” revealed a complete lack of insight into the despicable nature of barry’s “offanded remark”. And from barry’s silence, we are left to conclude that he doesn’t think it important to apologize to everyone who heard his “joke”.

Instead, he hides behind his spokespeople (who obviosuly do not get it) and Mr Shriver, who has his own dual agenda: speaking up for Special Olympians and covering for family favorite barry.

barry is acting like one of those cowards Eric Holder referred to.

Let’s be clear here. barry did not just insult the Special Olympics. He insulted every person affiliated with them: the athletes and their families, the employees and coaches, the volunteers, as well as sponsors and donors.

Every human being should have been offended.

So why no apology?

Why no call for a public apology from Mr Shriver?

Why no demand for an apology from the media?

Would Gov Palin, Madame Secretary Clinton or Senator McCain have gotten by with no apology? McCain and Palin were crucified and compared to George Wallace because of a statement that was never made. “Kill him” was a figment of reporter David Singleton’s bot mind.

And barry made sure it as the last thing the voters heard in the last debate before they voted. It was intentional. He said it so voters were left believing that McCain’s fans wanted to assassinate a black man. His ultimate use of the race card was a complete and utter lie – and he knew it – his own Secret Service disproved it.

And he never apologized. Not even when it became common knowlege the allegations were completely unsusbstantiated.

He has never apologized for anything he allowed to go on while pretending to be a man of honor. He never said a word or objected to how Sen Clinton and Gov Palin were allowed to be destroyed on a fundamentally feminine level: Palin, an empty-headed Caribou Barbie and Clinton, a ball-breaking, steel-thighed nutcracker.

Imagine if Secretary Clinton or Gov Palin, when attacked for the nth time about their voices said, well at least it ain’t no eubonics?

Would they have been able to just have their spokespersons say it was an offhand remark and thoughtless joke? Or have a third party come forward and apologize for them?

Laughable. Both of them would be crueled to death in the press and, of course, labeled evil racists by Bob Herbert, Rep Clyburn and Roland Martin.

And barry?

Why the continued Double Standard?

How can folks still believe race was anything but an advantage in this election?

barry’s “thoughtless joke” was an insult to humanity. It came from the lips of a man who considers each of his words carefully. He intended it as it was said.

Families members of Special Olympians daily defend their loved ones against ignorant people. Now the most high-profile insulter doesn’t even have the courage to admit to what he said, that he understands the nature and extent of the pain his words caused, that he apologizes as in “I am sorry”, that he will do x to make sure it never happens again and that he will do y to make sure others get it and will do z to directly help the Special Olympics.

We have heard none of it. Not a single word.

His pride and cowardice compounds the hurt of his initial comment.

Is there anyone on this planet who knows what barry really thinks about his disgusting words, except Tim Shriver and the rest of the Kennedys?

How were barry’s words a direct insult to the Chairman of the Special Olympics?

Why was Shriver the only person worthy of an apology?

What dialogue is opening up when the person who made the subhuman remark hasn’t even begun the conversation?

What 5 y/o doesn’t know that when he harms another person he must apologize to them directly? He doesn’t whisper an apology to his friend and then make his friend do the apologizing for him.

Where is the lesson learned?

Jake Tapper at ABC labeled barry’s comment a “wisecrack”. And then he said that “the White House says these other issues being raised are just noise and what the president will continue to push is his agenda to fix the economy.”

Noise?

barry insulted the Special Olympians’ intelligence and then insulted their athletic ability. He classified them – however thoughtlessly or offhandedly – as less thens, who, because of their limited intellectual abilities, must automatically be spastic athletes.

As angry, hurt and disillusioned as Tim Shriver looked – he did not demand barry feel the sting of the same words by having to admit to them on air.

TIM SHRIVER I think it’s important to see that words hurt, and words do matter. And these words that in some respect can be seen can be seen as humiliating or a put-down to people with special needs –do cause pain, and they do result in stereotypes, they do result in behavior that is neglectful and almost oppressive moment of people with special needs.

This kind of language needs to be a teachable moment, I think, for our country.

I would hope every parent that’s at home this morning watching this show could turn to their children and say, ‘This is a chance for us to recognize that when we talk about Special Olympics, when we talk about people with special needs. Let’s make sure we talk about it in an affirming way.

And barry?

What is he teaching with his non-affirming silence?

That other folks apologize for him?

How is it learning of any sort?

He’s cheating his punishment and wothout consequence the acts will continue.

What is he teaching his daughters? Did he even talk with them?

No one knows.

What would be the power of that lesson? A video bit of him teaching his daughters about what he said and how hurtful it was? He could make an audiotape.

That would be proof of sincerity and learning.

And what more powerful message could you have on your website?

And on the White House’s? He has the transcript of Leno proudly displayed with the offending words still present. And what’s not there? An accompanying statement pointing out what he said and why it should not have been said — or even thought.

As is, we don’t know what he thinks or what he feels or what he understands. We don’t know what he has acknowledged was wrong. We don’t even if he actually apologized. We have Mr Shriver’s word nothing else.

Era of responsibility?

Lt Dan Choi: Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell has got to go

March 21, 2009

Lt Choi posts/interviews

Rachel Maddow had a curious “audio glitch” the other day when she was talking with a military officer, who was in the process of admitting he was gay. The sound “mysteriously” cut off when he talked about how Don’t ask Don’t tell violates the Honor Code because they are basically lying about not being gay. I wrote a post about this yesterday as I was listening to it live.

So tonight she had him on again. She was unable to explain the technical difficulties – which were anything but.

Lt Dan Choi is an Infantry Platoon Leader with the New York National Guard and also a founding member of the Knights Out: a group of gay West Point grads, who are fighting against Don’t ask, don’t tell policy.

12, 500 soldiers have been kicked out in the 15 year. Why? Just because they are gay?

65,000 gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender soldiers are presently serving in the military and every one of them has to hide who they are while they risk their lives for their straight soldiers. Why not put the gay men together with the women and cut down on rapes?

This is the insanity. If they kick Lt Choi out – they will lose a West Point Grad, an Iraq combat veteran and a soldier fluent in Arabic. They would lose a soldier like this – he said he loved being in Iraq – just because of his sexuality? Can’t we use every soldier? Especially Lt Choi, who can speak the language? Imagine the surprise of the Iraqis when an American Soldier with an Asian face starts speaking Arabic.

Tim Shriver: “This kind of language needs to be a teachable moment”

Jake Tapper at ABC calls it a “wisecrack” and that “the White House says these other issues being raised are just noise and what the president will continue to push is his agenda to fix the economy.”

His “wisecrack” is just “noise”.

That’s not what those of us who have family members with special minds feel. Follow the links below to see and hear what Gov Palin, Maria Shriver and Gov Schwarzenegger had to say as well as Tim Shriver’s official statement.

Here’s the transcript of Shriver’s brief comments: provided by JAKE TAPPER & HUMA KHAN.

Special Olympics Chairman Tim Shriver talked with Robin Roberts on Good Morning America:

SHRIVER: He [Obama] expressed his disappointment and he apologized, I think, in a way that was very moving. He expressed that he did not intend to humiliate this population, certainly didn’t want to embarrass or give anybody any more reason for pain or just suffering, I would say.

He was very sincere, expressed an openness and an interest in being more engaged in the movement, and said he was a fan of the movement and I think, importantly, he said he was ready to have some of our athletes over to the White House to bowl or play basketball or help him improve his score.

ROBIN ROBERTS: Is that enough for you or do you think there is something else he should do?

I think it’s important to see that words hurt, and words do matter. And these words that in some respect can be seen can be seen as humiliating or a put-down to people with special needs –do cause pain, and they do result in stereotypes, they do result in behavior that is neglectful and almost oppressive moment of people with special needs.

Bowling ranked in top 5 Special Olympics sports, Kolan McConiughey

March 21, 2009

March 21, 2009

Here’s some perspective from the Special Olympics website [emphasis added]:

Bowling is one of the five most popular sports in the Special Olympics movement, with almost 240,000 athletes engaged in rigorous year-round training and competition around the world. Special Olympics athletes have a wide range of abilities, and focus on doing their best and improving their skills. Many Special Olympics athletes are excellent bowlers.

In fact, in December 2008, Special Olympics Michigan athlete Kolan McConiughey bowled a perfect 300 game, the third time he has done so in competition. [5 times overall]

Special Olympics San Marino athlete Gianvito Campo averaged 165 for his three-game series in winning a gold medal at the 2007 Special Olympics World Summer Games in Shanghai, China.

From the United States Bowling Congress:

Q. What are the odds of rolling a 300 game?

A. There is no scientific way to determine this. The unscientific method, however, involves the number of games bowled and number of sanctioned 300 earned in a bowling season. It is estimated league bowlers roll an average of 100 games per season (90 league, 10 tournament). With about four million sanctioned league bowlers rolling about 400 million games and more than 35,000 perfect games rolled each year, the odds are about one 300 for approximately every 11,500 games.

Since women and youth roll far fewer 300s than men, their odds are much greater.

I think this puts into context the ignorance of barry’s words.

Special Olympian Kolan McConiughey, 35, started bowling when he was was 8 or 9 and has bowled 3 perfect games in competition and 5 perfect games since 2005. The odds have to be astronomical.

I think Kolan should take on barry as part of a fundraiser right there in the White House. –  he does too.

McConiughey: He [Obama] bowled a 129. I bowl a 300. I could beat that score easily.

Special Olympics Chairman, Tim Shriver re: barry’s”joke”

Maria Shriver’s brother, Tim Shriver, is Chairman of the Special Olympics. He made appearances on Good Morning America and Andrea Mitchell. I can’t find an embeddable ones but here’s GMA. Worth watching. I struck by his genuine anger and disappointment toward barry, which was well-earned. The media doesn’t seem to find it disgusting. Double standard in play yet again.  Keith Olbermann’s first words were: What do WE do?

MARCH 20, 2009

OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM SPECIAL OLYMPICS CHAIRMAN
TIMOTHY SHRIVER

REGARDING U.S. PRESIDENT OBAMA’S COMMENT ON
THE TONIGHT SHOW WITH JAY LENO

“President Obama called last night and expressed his regret and he apologized.  He said that he did not intend to humiliate Special Olympics athletes or people with intellectual disabilities.  He was sincere and heartfelt, and said that he is a fan of our movement and is ready to work with our athletes to make the United States a more accepting and welcoming country for all people with special needs.

“Words hurt and words matter.  Words can cause pain and result in stereotypes that are unfair and damaging to people with intellectual disabilities.  And using ‘Special Olympics’ in a negative or derogatory context can be a humiliating put-down to people with special needs.

“This is a teachable moment for our country.  We are asking young people, parents and leaders from all walks of life to engage in conversation and help dispel negative caricatures about people with intellectual disabilities.  We believe that it’s only through open conversation and dialogue about how stereotypes can cause pain that we can begin to work together to create communities of acceptance and inclusion for all.

“Special Olympics is not a program, but a worldwide movement operating 30,000 events a year in more than 180 countries.  Every one of them is a chance for people of all ages to get involved, to think differently about attitudes and perceptions they may have about people with intellectual disabilities, and to make a difference.

“And so we challenge people to join our ‘Spread the Word to End the Word’ campaign, a youth-led national awareness effort that will launch on March 31, where we are asking people to pledge their respect for people with special needs.  We’re asking people to sign our ‘R-word’ pledge, to join in our Unified Sports programs, to volunteer, and to be fans of our athletes and our movement.

“Additionally, we challenge policy leaders at all levels to commit to improving the support and resources for people with intellectual disabilities in areas such as healthcare, education, housing and recreation.

“Finally, we invite the President to take the lead and consider hiring a Special Olympics athlete to work in the White House.  In so doing, he could help end misperceptions about the talents and abilities of people with intellectual disabilities, and demonstrate their dignity and value to the world.”

Special Olympics PSA: “The new R-word is Respect”

March 21, 2009

March 20, 2009

Found this video while looking for a video of Tim Shriver’s TV appearances today. He said a phrase I didn’t quite catch but was hoping to find. Something along the line of giftedness.

Special Olympics:

Special Olympics urges people from all walks of life to talk with one another and help dispel negative stereotypes about people with intellectual disabilities. Only through open dialogue about how these characterizations can cause pain and damage can we begin to work together to create communities of acceptance and inclusion for all.

Part of that effort involves the “Spread the Word to End the Word” campaign, a youth-led national awareness effort that launches on 31 March. Through events held across the United States, young people are asking everyone demonstrate their respect for people with special needs by taking the “R-word” pledge at www.r-word.org, joining Special Olympics Unified Sports programs, volunteering and being fans of Special Olympics athletes and the movement.

March 31st. No such thing as coincidence.

Gov & First Lady of CA re: barry’s Special Olympics “joke”

March 21, 2009

March 20, 2009

Staunch supporter First Lady Maria Shriver and recent host Gov Schwarzenegger comment on barry’s “thoughtless joke”.

Maria Shriver’s mother, Eunice Kennedy Shriver, founded the Special Olympics in honor of her sister, Rosemary Kennedy, who possessed a special mind. At the time, Rosemary’s specialness was not known and to tell the truth, in those days there was stigma attached to intellectual, mental or psychiatric disabilities. Eunice took the first step and the Special Olympics were born in Mayor Daley Sr’s 1968 Chicago.

A true feat.

Maria Shriver’s brother, Tim Shriver, is Chairman of the Special Olympics. He made appearances on Good Morning America and Andrea Mitchell today.

First Lady of California Maria Shriver released a statement on her website regarding barry’s “offhand remark”.

PRESS STATEMENT: First Lady Maria Shriver Issues Statement on President Obama’s Comments Regarding Special Olympics:

While I am confident that President Obama never intended to offend anyone, the response that his comments have caused, coupled with the reaction of a primetime audience, demonstrate the need to continue to educate the non-disabled community on the issues that confront those with a developmental disability. My mother has dedicated her life to fighting stereotypes and ridicule for this community, and there is still much work to be done.

The President’s apology for his comments and his commitment to bringing the Special Olympics to the White House are important first steps in shedding light on this important issue. Often times we don’t realize that when we laugh at comments like this it hurts millions of people throughout the world. People with special needs are great athletes and productive citizens, and I look forward to working with the President to knock down myths and stereotypes about this community.

Her husband, Gov Arnold Schwarzenegger:

I didn’t see it. But I heard about it and I know because of conversations I had with the president about the Special Olympics, and I’m an international coach of the Special Olympics, I know where his heart is at. He loves the Special Olympics and he would do everything he can to help the Special Olympics. And every one of us sometimes makes a mistake by something comes out of your mouth and you say ‘Oops I wish I wouldn’t have said that.’ I’ve had many of those.

Gov Palin re: barry’s Special Olympics “joke”

March 21, 2009

Governor Palin’s comments on barry’s “thoughtless joke” and “offhand remark”.

PALIN: I was shocked to learn of the comment made by President Obama about Special Olympics.

This was a degrading remark about our world’s most precious and unique people, coming from the most powerful position in the world.

These athletes overcome more challenges, discrimination and adversity than most of us ever will.

By the way, these athletes can outperform many of us and we should be proud of them.

I hope President Obama’s comments do not reflect how he truly feels about the special needs community.

Gov Palin: Trig & the Special Olympics (video)

March 20, 2009

March 20, 2009

I can’t imagine Gov Palin is pleased hearing what came out barry’s mouth: as a mother, a mother of a special soul, a mother of a future Special Olympian, a governor, an American and as a citizen of the human race. Here she talks about the importance if the Special Olympics – which were held in Boise, Idaho in February – from what looks like her youngest daughter’s bedroom with Trig sitting on her lap.

Imagine how she heard barry’s disgusting words. Must have been reminiscent of jonjon alter’s “disabled infant” comment in NEWSWEEK.

Imagine if Gov Palin or Madame Secretary Clinton would have said: “My public speaking is – it’s like the Miss Black Teen talent contest. Ha-ha-ha.”

The uproar then?

So why hasn’t barry been held to the same standard?

Same as always: the Double Standard.

nxrisetaker

Her message: the Special Olympics will afford Trig the chance to engage in sports and competition the way the rest of her athletic family has been able and that his participation will be given the same attention as his siblings. And, of course, her trademark:

You know what the difference is between a hockey mom and a Special Olympics hockey mom?

Nothing!

Doesn’t take a thousand words to translate this look. You throw me under barry – I tell them how little you know about anything – except for the bonuses. barry told him and Dodd to give the bonuses but hide it barry transparency style. Unfortunately they got caught – but only after they lied. Change we can believe in!

Larry King: Mitt Romney

March 20, 2009

March 20, 2009

Mitt Romney was on Larry King Live last night. It’s time for barry to dump Geithner and actually reach across the aisle to Romney. He commented on barry [not focusing - too many personal appearances - the bonuses slipped by him - not experienced], tax bill passed is unconstitutional – just taking focus away from who caused it, Gov Palin [was surprised by her - thought she'd have trouble at the convention - has great political instincts], Rush Limbaugh [he listens to him - he's not the head of the party - they don't have one right now, and is in favor of stem-cell research as long as embryos already exist. His wife has MS.

CNN TRANSCRIPT: [Emphasis added]

Larry King: Some are seeing a problem with the president doing the “Tonight Show,” the first sitting president ever to do a late-evening [talk] show. Do you have a problem with it?

Mitt Romney: Well, this probably isn’t the right time for it. I line up with Warren Buffett on this. I prefer to see the president focusing all of his time and energy on the economy.

King: That’s what he was talking about.

Romney: He is talking about it. He’s out doing a rally in California. He’s posing for the cover of magazines and doing a number of things. He’s putting together a health care plan, putting together a cap and trade program, a lot of things on the agenda. And frankly, if you’re doing too many things, a couple of important things can slip by. And one of them that slipped by was the AIG legislation that allowed AIG executives to get these bonuses. It was put in a specific bill.

King: Are you as angered over this AIG thing as probably 90 percent of the public?

Romney: Yes, my view is that this is really the fault of two parties. One, the members of our government that weren’t paying attention, at best. That’s the most favorable way to characterize it. …

The other, of course, is the folks at AIG. And you ask yourself, why couldn’t they have done what other enterprises do that get in trouble, which is people come together; they talk about the sacrifice they are going to make to try and keep the enterprise going. But these guys seemed not to be willing to do that. …

This is a president who is learning on the fly. He’s never turned anything around before. He hasn’t had the experience of leading a nation or a business or a state in trouble. And the first rule I can tell him is focus, focus, focus.

[He doesn't know how to focus because he has never had to. The only experience he has is campaigning, which is what he is doing. Already people have had enough of him.]

King: How do you account for the fact that his popularity stays high?

Romney: I know that people recognize that this is a man who is a decent fellow. He’s intelligent. He’s well-intentioned. He’s just not experienced in the matters that we’re dealing with right now.

[Right on.]

King: The latest polls say you are the leader to get the party’s nomination the next time around. Others say it’s Rush Limbaugh leading the party. Is he the head of your party?

Romney: He’s a very powerful voice among conservatives. And I listen to him. A lot of other people listen to him. He’s not a spokesman for the party, of course. But we don’t have one spokesman right now.

King: You are apparently [leading] in recent polls …

Romney: Kind of early, don’t you think?

King: Are you going to run again?

Romney: I can’t imagine making that decision at this point.

King: But you’re going to run again.

Romney: No, I don’t think [so]. I’m glad that you’re so insistent.

King: What did you make of Gov. [Sarah] Palin?

Romney: Boy, she was able to connect with our party in a very powerful way, ignite a lot of enthusiasm and excitement. That kind of political skill is rare. I hadn’t met her before the announcement that she was going to be our VP nominee. And I thought, boy, she’s going to have a tough time up there on the stage at the Republican convention. Was I wrong. She got out there and just lit the place up.

[Why was that his first impression if he didn't know her? Because she is an attractive woman? Because she's from Alaska?]

King: The House today passed a measure to slap a hefty tax on big employee bonuses paid by companies getting federal bail outs. Good idea?

Romney: Well, look, everybody is mad at AIG and their executives for doing what they did. But to suggest that this is not the fault of the people in Congress who passed the specific measure allowing them to take these bonuses is a diversionary tactic and wrong. You don’t have a government take punitive action against a small group of people. Frankly, it’s unconstitutional, in my view.

King: Former President Bush said he’s not going to spend anytime criticizing Obama. He says he deserves silence. However, former Vice President [Dick] Cheney is taking a very different tact, charging that he’s making choices which would make us vulnerable for another attack. Which way do you go here?

Romney: Well, I think there’s a standard which is applied to former presidents, and that standard is that they have had their time on the stage and it’s best for them to step aside and let the new president have his or her chance. I think President Bush is doing the right thing.

King: Do you think we’re more vulnerable to an attack?

Romney: I think if we’re going to release the detainees that are in Guantanamo and put them out either in our own prisons or at prisons in nations that are going to release them, that will make us less secure. … I’m glad that President Obama decided to pull back on his original plans to immediately bring our troops home from Iraq. We’re succeeding there. He’s decided to go a little more slowly. … That’s the right course, and I appreciate that.

[Classy way of saying barry broke the promise that got him elected. Just think of what the world would be like right now if McCain had picked Romney.]

King: Do you have faith in American business?

Romney: Yes. … Every job we have that isn’t working for [the] government comes because somebody had an idea and began a business. Small business people, big business people, they’re just American citizens who took a risk, and some of them find the chance to make that risk became positive and generate jobs and income. That’s a great thing.

King: What about when business goofs?

Romney: To err is human and to make bad decisions is also human. You’ve seen some very bad characters. But whether that’s an executive or a basketball player or a politician, it’s throughout every society I know of. … I’m not going to be taking my time taking pot shots at the entire profession of business or any other profession in this country. Except maybe lawyers — I’m kidding.

King: Your wife has multiple sclerosis, a disease some scientists think will be cured through stem cell research. How is she doing?

Romney: She’s doing terrifically well. She’s riding horses on a regular basis. And she’s one of the few that has had very little progression from the disease. So I’m pleased and hopeful.

King: Do you support the stem cell thing?

Romney: I support stem cell research. I do not support creating new embryos for the purpose of taking away the life of that embryo, and taking stem cells from those embryos.

King: Do you think we’re going to cure MS?

Romney: I sure hope so. I think eventually we’ll be curing most of the major diseases we know during our lifetimes.
