Here’s Susan Boyle being told she is going to be in the top 40. Pre “tidying up” with the same dress and those adorable little shoes. She is an utter joy to watch. Authenticity is a very rare thing.

About the standing ovation she received during her audition:
I never expected it myself to be perfectly honest. They all started standing up – either there was a fire under the seat, or I’ve done something wrong, or they think I’m good.
After she reacts to the news she asks Simon if she could shake his hand. Then she runs out and jumps up and down like the two kids and adds her trademark hip swivel. And then she gives hugs to the two hosts, who actually hugged back.
How’s she feeling?
On top of the world! It’s fantastic!
Her chances? Looking very pensive:
