Limbaugh & Olbermann response

Senator John McCain’s still fierce 97 y/o mother, Roberta McCain, was on Jay Leno last night. It’s clear who he takes after. She was entertaining but also had a message.

rullyahio

KEVIN SPACEY, who had just done spot on Bill Clinton and Johnny Carson impressions said to Mrs McCain:

It sounds to me like you ought to run for politics.

MRS MCCAIN:

No. They’d never elect me, because I am not diplomatic enough for that.

JAY LENO:

What about being diplomatic. Let’s talk about some of the commentators from the left and right. Who bothers you on the left?

MRS MCCAIN no hesitation: Olbermann.

[laughter]

LENO: What’s wrong with Keith Olbermann?

MRS MCCAIN:

Well, I don’t know if there’s anything wrong with him. I just, myself, can’t figure out that type of person, who really more or less gets joy out of denigrating people, humiliating – I’m just not that type of person. I don’t have friends like that. And thank God I am not around people like him.

LENO: What about on the right?

MRS MCCAIN:

David Brooks is a man I really respect at the New York Times….He’s a wonderful writer.

LENO: What about Rush Limbaugh? You one of his fans?

MRS MCCAIN:

I belong to the Republican Party….What he thinks about or represents in the Republican Party has nothing to do with my side of it. I don’t know what the man means, I don’t know what he’s talking about.

I think that the Chairman of the Republican Party Steele was exactly right when he defined this man as an entertainer. Limbaugh — you’re a compliment when you say the man is an entertainer. And to my horror, the Republican Party made him back up on it.

I don’t know what he [Limbaugh] is — but he does not represent the Republican Party that I belong to.

I bet she doesn’t like him personally either. Especially after he told his listeners that Arlen Specter should take her son and granddaughter with him.

McCain's mother, Roberta, appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno Wednesday.

Christina Raines visits fiance Drew Peterson in jail

May 12, 2009

Updated: Drew Peterson posts (5-12)

May 12, 2009

Drew Peterson’s fiancee, Christina Raines visited him in jail today and got harassed by WFLD – (FOX Chicago).

Can you imagine what this girl is dealing with? Not only the change in housing and her children’s and Drew’s children’s coping with it all – but her own feelings about him. A 24 y/o engaged to a 55 y/o man is bad enough but when he is suspected of harming his two previous wives – one fatally – maybe both – it’s hard to imagine what is inside her head. She was on Mancow & Cassidy in February and they asked her if she would stick by him in jail and she said yes. And if he was convicted? She would have to see. I’ll have to dig that out of the drafts since it’s worth hearing.

Anyway, she visited him around noon for approximately 30 minutes – what is allowed. He gets two 30-minute visits a week and Brodsky has already said no media. Wonder how Drew feels about that. Evidently their meeting wasn’t face to face – it was via video monitor and headset. And you can bet it was being recorded.

==============

=======================
She was visibly upset as FOX harassed her – walking pretty darn fast in her 3″ stilettos.

CRAIG WALL: Can you tell me why you are even here?

CHRISTINA RAINES trying to get away: It’s none of your f—ing business. Ok?

WALL: Can you tell me what your relationship is with Drew at this point?

RAINES: No response.

WALL: What did you talk about with Drew?

RAINES: She got in the car and slammed the door.

Then FOX talked to her 56 y/o father Ernie, who is so concerned about her, he let her go to jail unaccompanied so she could be accosted like this. And he admits he didn’t even know she was planning on visiting him or that she actually went. She’s just a messed up kid and somebody has to step up and guide her – if only for the sake of the children. It’s not a punchline anymore. Maybe Mancow with his weird relationship could make sure she is looked out for…if it helps ratings.

Ernie was was “shocked” when he found out his daughter visited her fiancee. How concerned is he about her? And where is she living and who watches her children? How confused are they?

ERNIE RAINES: He manipulated her. He conned her. And he spun his web. I just don’t know. I’m sick to my stomach.

And his daughter?

WALL: So you’re still worried about her?

RAINES: I am. I am. Anything can happen. Till they say he’s guilty and they give him sixty years, that’s when she’ll wake up. I just hope to God he don’t make bail.

I realize I never posted his initial comments on Peterson’s arrest. I’ll see if I can find them in the drafts.I know i saw him on video.

Robert Gibbs re: Wanda Sykes “jokes”

May 12, 2009

May 12, 2009

Robert Gibbs at the daily press briefing.

Q If I could change topics, then, what did the President think of Wanda Sykes comment about Rush Limbaugh and the hijacker?

MR. GIBBS:  Well, I’ll leave it to the immediate past president of the White House Correspondents Association to discuss –

Q    I thought you talked to the President, though. What did the President think?

MR. GIBBS:  No, no, I understand.  I’ll give you my full answer if you’ll give me one second to do it.  I don’t know how guests get booked.  That’s a White House Correspondents Association thing.  I think the President — I haven’t talked specifically with him, but my guess is, Jeff, that I think there are a lot of topics that are better left for serious reflection rather than comedy. I think there’s no doubt that 9/11 is part of that.

I don’t know…haven’t specifically talked with him. How long is the press going to be played the fool?

And what about barry’s own joke about 9/11? About his daughters going for a joyride over Manhattan in Air Force One?

Watch that video and you’ll see and hear that those folks were terrorized and didn’t at all find it funny. And him not apologizing hasn’t helped matters any.

And where was the question about Sykes’ saying she hopes Rush Limbaugh’s kidneys fail?

Blackhawks win!

May 12, 2009

May 12, 2009

Well the kids did it. They beat Vancouver 7-5 to move on to the Conference finals…hopefully against the Redwings. The UC was rocking from the moment Jim Cornelison started to sing O Canada! He was as into it as everyone in the seats. Have to say he outdoes Wayne Messmer. Tony O dropped the puck. Pat Foley back by popular demand looked bummed he won’t be calling any more games this year. John McDonough is pure gold – Hawks went over the one million mark in attendance.

The third quarter was insane with the rapid exchange of goals. Luongo gave up 4 goals in 9 shots on net.

Hawks were 3-4 on the penalty play.

Goals scored: Kane,Versteeg, Toews, Burish, Kane, Toews, Kane

Here’s Kane’s hat trick.

Carrie Prejean “Satan was testing me”

May 12, 2009

May 12, 2009

She was in the top 5 and then came the question and then came her answer and then came her character assassination. This poor girl is being ripped apart because she dared to speak out against gay marriage. Why isn’t she allowed to have her own stance? To voice her beliefs. And then of course comes the dumb blonde jokes and the leak of photos and details of plastic surgery. Have to love today’s treatment of non-leftists. Perez Hilton set her up and actually admitted that she might have won if she didn’t get the question.

But she truly isn’t helping herself with the continued public appearances. She should realize she will never win.

What is the purpose of these pageants anyway? And aren’t there any “guardians” or whatever from California who could give her some advice? She is still representing them. Yes. She retains her crown. Donald Trump said “It’s the 21st Century”.

Here is her interview with James Dobson. You decide what it’s all about. They play the clip where she answers the way she did and then Dobson questions her.

DR DOBSON: That turned out to be a defining moment of your life. And it sounded, Carrie, like your first reaction was to hedge, to say, ‘Well, this is a free country’ and then something took over.

CARRIE PREJEAN: It really was a switch.

DOBSON: And you did one of the most courageous things I’ve seen anybody your age or anybody else do. What was going on in your mind?

PREJEAN: Well I started off by saying I want to win this pageant so bad, I’ve worked so hard. I wanted to sound politically correct, but still stay true to my values. But I just knew at that moment that God was just telling me ‘Carrie, how bad do you want this? Are you willing to compromise your beliefs for a one year crown of Miss USA.’ And I just knew right there – and I said you know what [snapped fingers], and the switch went off. And I said, “A marriage should be between a man and a woman and that’s how I was raised and that’s how it should be. But I also said no offense to the anyone out there. I didn’t want to offend the man asking me the question.

DOBSON: You had been asked your opinion.

PREJEAN:…He asked my opinion and I gave my opinion. He didn’t ask what do you think homosexuals think about this. He said ‘Carrie, what do you think about this’?

DOBSON: What did he want you to do, to lie?

PREJEAN: He wanted me to agree with him, cause he probably knew how bad I wanted this.

DOBSON: Did you realize that what you said was going to put you in the spoltlight

PREJEAN:…I just smiled and I knew there was no way I would win Miss USA. No way.

DOBSON: So, you put it on the line?

PREJEAN: I did.

[...]

DOBSON: And yet the Lord is using you all over this country.

PREJEAN: I want to encourage other people that when you are faced with an issue…don’t ever compromise that just for pleasing them. Your goal should be to please God, not man.

Sound advice.

[...]

PREJEAN: You may be persecuted, you may be made fun of, you may be mocked and called awful, awful names, but at the end of the day you’re moving on with your life.

[...]

Mom chimes in.

[...]

DOBSON: It’s my understanding that you’ve heard from some within the homosexual community who are affirming of you.

PREJEAN: Oh, I’ve had so much support from the gay community. I just want to thank the gay community if they are listening for their support. They say, you stood up for what you believe and that’s what we do – we stand up for what we every single day. We can agree to disagreeThere’s no hate in what I said. I love gay people…This is not against homosexuals.

[...]

DOBSON: Why did you give the answer you did with regard to the affirmation of marriage?

PREJEAN: Honestly, I felt as though Satan was — and I don’t want to say that this person represented Satan –  but, I felt as though Satan was trying to tempt me in asking me this question, and then God was in my head and in my heart saying, Carrie, do not compromise this. You need to stand up for me. You need to share with all these people –if there were 95 percent of the people in the audience that were gay – you need to witness to them. And you need to show that you’re not willing to compromise that for this title of Miss USA. And so I just knew right here that it wasn’t about winning. It was about being true to my conviction.

Imagine you agree with her ideas and you were the one being attacked. Removes the subject completely. Substitute a core belief.

How would you feel if people attacked you?

Would you stick with your convictions or change to win something?

That’s the lesson that has been completely bypassed because of the topic.

And there’s a topic in the way she was systematically torn down by the internet firing squad.

How tolerant were the folks screaming at her to educate herself in tolerance?

Her family was assailed before she even left the building. There have been death threats. Where’s the tolerance?

[...]

DOBSON: Carrie, do yo have any regrets?

PREJEAN: No.

DOBSON: You would do it again?

PREJEAN: I would do it again.

DOBSON: Even if you could have won the crown by compromising?

PREJEAN: Oh yes….I have a platform now.

So has the Republican party just found there new it girl? Christian broadcasting networks? She was well-spoken here and what she said was perfectly reasonable.

She stuck with her convictions and is being torn down because folks don’t agree with them.

Why doesn’t everyone have a right to speak?

The overwhelming majority of the country is against same-sex marriage anyway.

How many folks in the media are mentioning the fact that she has received support from the gay community for standing up for what she believes in?

Go ahead, it’s Saudi Arabia, slap them b*tches up side the head

Quote of the day: “Why don’t you just say you love him”

May 12, 2009

May 12, 2009

Morning Joe. Mika is running the show with bosom buddies Mike Barnicle and Willie Geist. Politico’s Mike Allen is on giving the morning whatever. They get around to mentioning the White House Poetry Slam tonite.

GEIST: What makes a poetry slam rather than a poetry reading?

MIKA: Mike Allen might know.

ALLEN: You know, it’s a fine distinction from a poetry jam…but I think if the president’s there, whatever it is, it’s cool.

MIKA: Wow. Why don’t you just say you love him?

Classy Wanda Sykes: “I hope [Limbaugh's] kidneys fail”

May 12, 2009

May 10, 2009

Wanda Sykes is as classless as it gets. She has no idea what is appropriate and what isn’t. She mentions treason and then goes on to call Rush Limbaugh the 20th hijacker. And she doesn’t stop there. She says she hopes his kidneys fail.

RoachRadioTv

Here’s CNN’s Johnk King, Donna Brazile and Bill Bennett.

RoachRadioTV

Spineless Donna Brazile says she’s gonna leave it alone. Bennett’s pisst but doesn’t get to go off because wimpy John King goes to commercial – without weighing in himself.

CNN Transcript:

KING: Well, let me turn your subject to another person who told a joke at last night’s event. I don’t know if we have it to play. I hope we do in a second. But the president was very funny. Poked fun at himself, poked a little fun at John Boehner, a little fun at the Republicans, a little fun at us in the news media.

Wanda Sykes came on next, she was giving a very funny routine. Then she said something about Rush Limbaugh, we’ve talked a little about it, that many thought crossed the line. Because Rush is on record saying he thinks Obama is way left of center, socialist policies and that he wants that to fail, criticized for it even by some Republicans. But what Wanda Sykes last night said rolled some eyes. Let’s listen. She compared Rush Limbaugh to the 20th hijacker.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

WANDA SYKES, COMEDIAN: The me that’s treason. He’s not saying anything differently other than what Osama bin Laden is saying. You might want to look into this. I think may be Rush Limbaugh was the 20th hijacker but he was just so strung out on Oxycontin he missed his flight.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

[Kind of says it all that they didn't even play the full clip.]

KING: You two politely debate the issues here all the time. You both always say let’s not keep it personal. Rush is fair game. He’s in this debate. He pokes fun at people. Was that over the line?

BRAZILE: No. It was funny. She thought it was funny. Some people thought it was funny. Some people did not think it was funny. So, I’m not going to debate whether or not a comedian said something over the line. She’ll be criticizing me tomorrow. I’m leaving it alone.

BENNETT: Way over the line. I hope he fails was the next line, I hope his kidneys fail. What the hell is that? Can we — I understand the dislike of Rush, the disapproval of Rush by liberals. But can we at least put some decency in our remarks? Michael Savage was criticized rightly for saying to a gay caller, I hope you die. You do not talk about people like that. You never talk about people like that. She was way over the line. This is why Elaine Bennett and I did not go to this dinner. We went twice and twice we had to leave because of remarks by comedians.

I’m for vigorous debate and exchange, but I don’t care who you’re talking about, and there are people I strongly dislike in this world, you don’t go beyond decency and she went way beyond that. “I hope his kidneys fail.” Come on.

BRAZILE: She was …

BENNETT: Joking.

BRAZILE: … trying to make fun of somebody who makes fun of everybody, Bill.

BENNETT: I understand that.

BRAZILE: He has said some things, Bill, I tell you, I won’t repeat because Rush Limbaugh, he has — he gives everybody the blues, including many Republicans.

BENNETT: He has said things in the past for which I have criticized him. But when it gets to the point liberals will not criticize their own when they step over the line, then they’re out there way over the line.

BRAZILE: We criticize our own. We’re not perfect.

BENNETT: I’d like to hear somebody step up on this one.

BRAZILE: What’s the point?

BENNETT: What’s the point? Just say that’s too much.

BRAZILE: What’s the point? She is an entertainer.

BENNETT: So is Rush an entertainer but you’re happy to criticize him.

BRAZILE: Of course.

BENNETT: What would have been too far? What would Wanda have said that would have offended you, anything?

BRAZILE: Of course. Of course.

BENNETT: Like what? She said I hope he dies.

BRAZILE: No.

BENNETT: I hope his kidneys fail.

BRAZILE: No. She was making fun of Rush Limbaugh and Rush Limbaugh makes fun of everybody else.

[In his own workplace not at a White House dinner. Even he knows what decorum is.]

BENNETT: I’m sorry, I know what it means to be made fun of and I know what it means for someone to say I hope you die.

KING: I’m going to call a time-out here because the last thing I want is a divide between you two.[Or be forced to grow a set.] So I’m going to call a little time out here. You both have very strongly held opinions on this one and did it in a polite way, which is the way we like debates here on STATE OF THE UNION.

—————–

One thing she said was funny:

SYKES: It’s funny to me that [photographers] have never caught you smoking. But they always catch you with your shirt off. I know you’re into this transparency thing, but I don’t need to see your nipples.

barry standup White House Correspondents’ Dinner

May 12, 2009

May 10, 2009

Tries to speak from the heart and talk “off the cuff” and realizes that isn’t going to work.

NewsPoliticsNews

I am Barack Obama. Some of you covered me. All of you voted for me.

Apologies to the FOX table.

I didn’t want to come tonite. But I knew I had to come. Just one more problem I’ve inherited from George Bush. [Not a laugh.]

Sasha and Malia aren’t here tonight because they’re grounded. You can’t just take Air Force One on a joyride to Manhattan. I don’t care whose kids you are. We’ve been setting some ground rules here.

He has never apologized to the terrorized folks in New York and New Jersey.

This is a tough holiday for Rahm Emanuel — he’s not used to saying the word “day” after mother.

I was saying to Axelrod, David and I have been together a long time…’You and I can do wonderful things together’. And he said to me the same thing that partners all across America are saying to one another right now: ‘Let’s go to Iowa and make it official’.

Michael Steele:  Is in the house tonite or as he would say, ‘In the hee-zzee’ .Wazzup?

Michael, for the last time, the Republican Party does not qualify for a bailout. Rush Limbaugh does not count as a troubled asset.

Dick Cheney was supposed to be here, but he’s working on his memoir, tentatively titled: “How to Shoot Friends and Interrogate People”.

He talks about his accomplishments.

Just last week Car & Driver named me Auto Executive of the Year….something I’m very proud of.

I’m sure fired autoworkers thought that was a regular riot.

We’ve begun to change the culture in Washington. We’ve even made the White House a place where people can learn and can grow. Just recently Larry Summers asked if he could chair the White House council on Women and Girls. And I do appreciate that Larry’s here tonite, because it is 7 hours passed his bedtime. Gibbs like that one.

Not laugh getters -besides being a misogynist it made him sound like a pedophile.

We’ve grown the Democratic Party by infusing it with new energy and bringing in fresh, young faces, like Arlen Specter.

Secretary Clinton actually had a lot to do with it too. One day she pulled him aside, and she said, ‘Arlen you know what I always say, If you can’t beat em join em.’ [crowd whistles]

Another thing that’s changed in this new warmer, fuzzier White House and that’s my relationship with Hillary. We had been rivals during the campaign, but these days we could not be closer. The second she got back from Mexico, she pulled me into a hug and a gave me a big kiss and told me I had better get down there myself.

Then he puts his nose up- not much of a laugh getter.

Tries to bring up Hugo Chavez and play it off as a joke but it didn’t work because he put up a pirate.

NewsPoliticsNews

Cut the tension by bringing a new friend to the White House. He’s cuddy, warm enthusiastic. You just have to keep him on a tight leash – every once in awhile he goes charging off into the wrong direction and gets himself into trouble – but enough about Joe Biden.

What we plan to achieve in the next 100 days:

We will design, build and open a library dedicated to my first 100 days. It’s gonna big, folks.

I will learn how to go off the prompter and Joe Biden will learn how to stay on the prompter.

My partisan outreach will be so successful that even John Boehner will consider becoming a Democrat. After all we have a lot in common – he is a person of color – although not a color that appears in the natural world. [Laughs the most out of all his jokes.] Wazzup John.

Forget the outreach bud.

House train our dog Bo. Because the last thing Tim Geithner needs is someone else treating him as a fire hydrant. [Laughed]

I will strongly consider losing my cool.

I believe my next 100 days will be so successful that I will complete them in 72 days. And on the 73rd day I will rest.

Some of these things would be funny if he didn’t actually believe it.

——

Then he goes off on his press worship and the real humor begins.

When you are at your best then you help me to be at my best.

Yes. They create all sorts of fiction for him.

You help all of us, who serve at the pleasure at the American People, do our jobs better by holding us accountable, by demanding honesty, by preventing us from taking shortcuts and falling into easy political games that people are so desperately weary of.

Now that is hysterical. Name just once they have held barry accountable for anything?

And that type of reporting is worth preserving. Not just for your sake  –  but the public’s.

It is. Too bad it is already extinct. That’s why newspapers are going belly up – their lack of truth and unbiased reporting.

We count on you to make sense of a complex world and tell the stories of our lives and we look to you for truth — even if it’s always an approximation.

Now there is the truth.

Statement by Peterson children

May 12, 2009

May 11, 2009

More victims. He allegedly murders the mother of four of his children and children from another marriage have to parent them.

Here is a statement from the oldest son, Stephen Peterson, on behalf of his siblings:

All of the children of Drew Peterson fully support their father and know that he is innocent of the charges against him.

We know him better than anyone else in the world and we know he is not guilty.

My younger brothers and sister, Kris, Tom, Anthony and Lacy, are staying with me.

We miss our dad and are praying for his release every day.

Neither I nor any of the children are doing any interviews.

We ask that the media and public respect our privacy during this trying time.

Joel Brodsky visits client Drew Peterson in jail

May 12, 2009

May 10, 2009

Joel Brodsky press release:

Drew Peterson’s lead criminal defense attorney Joel A. Brodsky returned to Chicago Sunday and visited his client in jail, according to the public relations firm The Publicity Agency that represents both Brodsky and Peterson.

“Drew understands the seriousness of the situation but he is in good spirits and has not lost his sense of humor,” says Brodsky.

Brodsky was on his way to New York for vacation when he received reports of Peterson’s arrest.

Peterson is charged with murder in the 2004 death of Kathleen Savio. He’s also a suspect in the 2007 disappearance of his fourth wife, Stacy. He’s denied wrongdoing.

Anonymous letter sent to Kathleen Savio about Drew’s adultery. Savio was terrorized in every way possible and the sad apart is Stacy took part in it. Drew is beyond evil.

This is really poor quality – even if you use your browser to enlarge the print. I don’t know why these documents haven’t been uploaded to Scribd or Justia.

It’s an anonymous letter to inform Kathleen Savio what a pig Drew Peterson is. He was having an affair with an underage (17 y/o) employee of the Village – Stacy Peterson – in view of everyone – an “ongoing joke within the police department”. Also included were allegations that Peterson planted cocaine for a drug bust and allowed an arrestee to be beaten while handcuffed and defenseless. The writer also warns Savio about who she talks to. “BEWARE whom you talk to within the Village administration and the police department.”

Why hasn’t the Savio family filed suit against the village of Bolingbrook and/or the Bolingbrook PD?

Kathleen Savio’s handwritten Last Will and Testament

May 12, 2009

Updated: Drew Peterson posts (5-12)

May 11, 2009

Copy of Kathleen Savio’s handwritten Will. She wasn’t thought to have one until Drew Peterson’s uncle popped up with one. He said she didn’t want her family anywhere near her estate. The same family she had been telling that Drew was going to kill her she doesn’t want to make sure the kids are provided for? Instead she’s going to go to the uncle of the man she is deathly afraid of? That’s how Peterson first got control of the estate, which is now in the hands of her sister and father, who also suing him for wrongful death. See links for background and documents.

What are the chances she wouldn’t have updated a 1997 Will? Especially heading into property settlement?

LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT – Hard to read but it’s the best copy I could find. Wish someone would put it up on Sribd.

Kathleen Savio: Police report (7-5-02)

May 11, 2009

May 11, 2009

Here’s a better copy of Kathleen Savio’s chilling letter to Elizabeth Fragale, Assistant State’s Attorney for Will County dated November 14, 2002. There is also a police report made on 7-18-2002 from an incident on July 5, 2002 when Drew Peterson broke in, scared the hell out of her, threatened her, held her down with a knife against her throat terrorizing her and telling her what a bad person she was and that she should just die. He was angry that the judge had awarded her child support. Note that there were 7 previous requests for police assistance.

Police report: He asked her if she was afraid and she told him yes. She finally said go, or do what you came for, kill me. He said, ok, where do you want it. She told him in the head. He took out his knofe but then said he couldn’t hurt her.

Two years later he had no such qualms.

Some of Kathleen Savio’s words:

I haven’t received help from the Police here in Bolingbrook, and asking for your help now. Before it’s to late. I really hope by filing this charge it might stop him from trying to hurt us.

At the present time my children have been in a program at school called rainbows, in efforts to repair some of the damage Drew and his girlfriend has created.

My son’s phyc is working with him but states “she can’t fix what continue to happen on a on going basis.”

And now?

It reminds me of Drew’s son’s words on The Early Show. Drew made both of his sons appear but only the older one spoke. The younger one stared into the camera as if he had something to say and was just waiting for someone to ask without his dad around.

16 y/o: It’s been crazy, like, with the news media in front of my house all the time. And like, there really hasn’t been much of an impact ever since my mom died, because nothing could be worse than that. But it’s just made my childhood much harder.

And Drew sat there not even trying to console the son speaking and he did the entire interview with his back to the younger son. Their own father has ruined their lives forever. It was Drew who caused the media to hang around and make his own childrens’ lives “much harder”.

Susan Boyle to Oprah: “I’ve got millions of new friends now” (mini videoclip)

May 11, 2009

Susan Boyle on Oprah: “It’s like a dream come true”

May 11, 2009

Here’s a mini video clip supplied by ITN.

ANORAK supplied a bit of the transcript:

SUSAN BOYLE: Welcome to my home. I have been born and raised here for the past 48 years. I was the youngest of nine, so it used to be quite hectic. My mother used to sing to us a lot, especially when she was working, so it’s a sort of habit I picked up from her. At school I was encouraged to be in choirs. I was kind of a slow learner in school, so something like singing was a good way of hiding behind that and boosting my confidence.

I sang at karaoke, which most people do for fun. I did sing at one or two occasions within the family.

Mum died two years ago. After that there was a wee period where I didn’t sing. You try and keep going through that pain.

And that’s what I try to do with that singing. I was very slowly getting over it.

One of the reasons I applied for the TV show was to try to see if I could perform in front of an audience.

Oh no. I am not lonely. Everyone has been so nice. I’ve got millions of new friends now.

Fame?

It all takes a bit of time to take in. Things have happened so quickly. It’s pretty awesome. Every quick change is always very hard to come by at first. But I’m really enjoying it, really enjoying every second of it. It’s like a dream come true.

Chances on BGT?

I have every chance, but at the same time there are a lot of other talent in the competition, so I’m willing to take my place with them. There’s a lot of other talent on the show.

Susan Boyle on Oprah: “It’s like a dream come true” (video)

More Susan Boyle on Oprah: “I’ve got millions of friends now” (mini-video clip)

May 11, 2009

Updated: video added

Susan Boyle was on Oprah via satellite. It was a show called “The World’s Got Talent” featuring Simon Cowell. One forgets what an utter delight Ms Boyle is. Her mini-makeover made absolutely no difference and folks should just leave her alone. She had been depressed ever since her mum died in 2007 – not even singing. Who knows if she had always wanted to have a little something done but had been reluctant to do so because of how folks already made fun of her. So let it go folks. It’s clear she isn’t going to do anything she isn’t comfortable with. Enjoy her for what she is: lovely, in all ways.

Here’s the story from Oprah’s website and added quotes.

One phenomenon Simon did not expect was Susan Boyle, the 47-year-old Britain’s Got Talent contestant whose voice has taken the world by storm. Simon says he was in a bad mood and anxious to get the show’s auditions over with on the day he met Susan.

SIMON COWELL: This lady came up, and I’m kind of thinking, ‘This will take five seconds, and I can go have a cup of tea’.

He’s been doing that for years already.

Once he heard her sing, Simon says he immediately knew he’d made a mistake.

COWELL: [I thought], ‘I’m going to look really stupid in a few weeks’ time.’

COWELL: There was something Susan said before she came out on stage…’I'm going to rock this audience.’ She knew we were going to have that reaction, and just to see that look of satisfaction on her face midway through—it was one of my favorite moments.

Since that first audition, Susan’s performance of “I Dreamed a Dream” has gotten more than 100 million hits on YouTube.

I liked that part the best. She was most convincing when she said it. And then she went out there and did it.

And her Britain’s Got Talent audition where she sings “I Dreamed a Dream” is #5 all time on You Tube. As of May 6, she had 186 Million hits so she could be over 200 million by now.

Susan, the youngest of nine, says she started singing when she was 12 years old. Music, she says, helped her cope with a learning disability.

SUSAN BOYLE: I was kind of a slow learner at school, so getting something like singing was a good way of hiding behind that and so boosting my confidence.

Susan says her biggest supporter was her mom, who died in 2007.

BOYLE: After that, there was a wee period where I didn’t sing. You try and keep going through that pain.

To help cope with the loss, Susan says she auditioned for Britain’s Got Talent.

BOYLE: I am very slowly getting over it. One of the reasons I applied for the TV show was to try to see if I could perform in front of an audience.

AlexFanDeSusanBoyle

It was the performance of Susan’s life—and everything changed overnight. Paparazzi now camp outside of the home she’s lived in for 48 years, and her mailbox is filling up with fan mail—with a few letters for her cat, Pebbles, mixed in.

BOYLE: Pretty awesome to be recognized in the street and asked for autographs. I’ve been getting quite a few letters and quite a few cards from all over the globe. I’m loving every second of it.

And she should. People haven’t exactly treated her nicely all her life.

Susan says she’s embracing every moment of her newfound fame.

BOYLE: It takes a bit of time to take in because it happened so quickly. I’m really enjoying every second of it. It’s like a dream come true.

Despite constant public scrutiny over her appearance, Susan says she hasn’t had a makeover.

BOYLE: It depends what you mean by a makeover. I said to my best friend, I said, ‘How’s about you do my makeup?’ I mean, that’s hardly a makeover.

Though she cut and colored her hair, Susan says it wasn’t part of a dramatic transformation plan.

BOYLE: I did a bit, but that was just to tidy myself up like any other female would have done.

No matter what, Simon says the competition is all about Susan and her voice.

COWELL: One minute you are living with Pebbles the cat.The next you have the media camped outside your front door. It’s all about you and your singing voice now.

I think you know what you want to do now in the semifinals … 100 million YouTube hits. It puts you under tremendous pressure and tremendous scrutiny. I think that’s a high class problem. I think you want to win it.

Whatever you feel comfortable with, you do. You’ve got practically the whole world behind you now. So I want to say congratulations and wish you the best of luck.

OPRAH: Good luck in the next round. It could be the most watched television broadcast ever. With 100 million You Tube hits, everyone will be watching. So no pressure at all.

Henrik Stenson wins The Players Championship…fully clothed

Henrik Stenson, his daughter Lisa, his trophy and his caddie, Fanny Sunesson (PGA)

Congratulations to the Swedish duo Henrik Stenson and Fanny Sunesson for winning the THE PLAYERS Championship.

Instead of just being that dude in his skivvies hitting a golf ball and the lady caddie getting a free peek – folks now know that he can play and she can caddie. Though the post with him hitting the ball in his white, as yet un-mud-smudged boxer briefs, has been quite popular – especially in the last 4 days.

Stenson commented on his little bit of undie fame after his win.

Taylor Hicks: “Seven Mile Breakdown”

May 10, 2009

May 10, 2009

I’ve had enough evil for now. Time for a little entertainment. Here’s Taylor Hicks new song “Seven Mile Breakdown” off his second album “The Distance” over which he had complete creative control.

Presently he is touring with Grease (Teen Angel) and while he was performing in San Francisco he sang the National Anthem for the Giants’ Home Opening. Captain Sullenberger threw out the ceremonial first pitch with the number 155 on the back of his Giants jersey. Nice way to remind everyone how many souls and how many families he saved from tragedy that day. Both did themselves proud.

While touring with Grease he is still doing live concerts. He, like Fantasia and Dave Matthews, are best appreciated Live on stage.

Enjoy.

If this isn’t your type of music there’s Adam Lambert[see below video],  Susan Boyle, Josh Groban, Luciano Pavarotti and the incomparable Andrea Bocelli. He and Susan Boyle would make a  good a duo – they bit share their gifts without pretense and react like children to the applause.

Mancow & Cassidy: Stacy’s sister vs Peterson

May 10, 2009

Updated: Drew Peterson posts (5-9)

May 1, 2009

One wonders if this was planned or just heat of the moment. Stacy’s sister Cassandra Cales called in to WLS Mancow & Cassidy and lit into Peterson using using appropriately coarse language. Wonder how she was able to wait so long?

Taped on Wednesday (29th) and aired on Thursday. I don’t know why they need to have the music going as well. Mancow has this strange realationship with Peterson. He says he believes that he is innocent.

Joel Brodsky shows that he really wasn’t preparing. He says flat out that there will never be an indictment. A week later and there is.

AUDIO

[Incomplete transcript - just relevant quotes.]

CALES: Hey, Drew how’re ya doing?

PATERSON: Hi, Cassandra, how’re ya been?

CALES: I’m pretty bad, Drew. Where’s my sister, you know?…This is about you Drew. What did you do to my sister?

PETERSON: Not a thing.

CALES: You killed her after she got off the phone. Between 10:15 and 10:59 the State Police know where you were, and what you did, and you will pay.

CASSIDY: …What do you think happened then?

CALES: I know what happened and so do the State Police.

CASSIDY: What?

CALES: And Drew knows. It’s not for the public’s eyes. The truth will be told in court, when Drew goes to trial.

CASSIDY: Are you saying that was the moment that your sister was murdered.

CALES: I’m not going to answer that question.

………………..

CASSIDY: Are we being unfair to you?

CALES: No. Drew’s the unfair one – taking my sister’s life.

…He murdered my sister. BLEEPER.

CASSIDY: You think he’s gonna be indicted soon, charged soon, and that’s it?

CALES: Oh, absolutely. His days are numbered. It’s coming soon. Watch your back, Drew. Drew, just keep talking, because you keep digging yourself in a deeper hole.

———-

MANCOW: Did Drew ever express remorse?

CALES: No. Absolutely not.

MANCOW: He never reached out after she disappeared?

CALES: No. I called him.

MANCOW: Any chance she ran off?

CALES: No chance she ran off. Absolutely not. She loved them kids with everything.

She hasn’t been able to Stacy’s children and he goes off on her driving and that she needed to be Tasered.

CALES: Cuz it’s all about me, Drew. You’re the murderer here. What did you do to my sister? You’re the one going to jail. You’re going to go to prison for the rest of your life.

Then Peterson’s lawyer Joel Brodsky jumps in saying that they’ve been hearing about the indictment for 18 months and that they basically have nothing.

BRODSKY: We’ve been hearing it’s coming down the ….it’s going to be tomorrow…the next day….it’s imminent, it’s imminent. It’s meaningless….They don’t have any evidence that Drew did anything wrong.

PERIOD. END OF STORY. THERE WILL NOT BE AN INDICTMENT. PERIOD.

Just as stupid and arrogant as his client.

……….

CALES: My friend talked to my sister at 10:15 am.  She was laying in bed, and Drew wasn’t in bed. Where were you, Drew? You’re a BLEEPER BLEEPER. You killed her after she got off the phone, you BLEEPING piece of BLEEP.

She hangs up. Do believe the first bleep was a F then a MF then F then S.

…………………

MANCOW: Can you say something nice about Stacy?

PETERSON: She was a sweetheart of a girl. Me and her had a lot of fun together.

—————

MANCOW: What does you think happened?

PETERSON: This is what I believe happened–

Cassidy interrupts saying a real mother wouldn’t leave her kids. The State Police must be ready to smack him. First rule of interrogation. Let the suspect talk.

PETERSON: Her own mother ran off and disappeared in the same way.

MANCOW: What do you think happened? You were going to tell us.

PETERSON: I don’t know. I think Cassandra here knows more than she is saying about Stacy’s whereabouts.

MANCOW: You maintain you didn’t murder Stacy Peterson.

PETERSON: Right.

MANCOW: Do you have any idea who may have done it?

PETERSON: Who knows if she was even murdered. I think she ran off – like I believe.

Then Brodsky goes off on what horrible things mothers do to their children as a way of making it reasonable that Stacy would leave her children.

MANCOW: I hope he didn’t do it for the sake of the kids….Awful story for everyone involved – except maybe Joel – if he’s getting a ton of money.

MANCOW: I’m going give you the last word, Drew. What do you want to say to Chicago? What do you want to say to the people?

PETERSON: I’m not guilty.

CASSIDY: Of Stacy or Kathleen Savio?

PETERSON: Neither of the incidences.

Kathleen Savio’s sister, Susan Doman “He needs to face reality”

Updated: Drew Peterson posts (5-10)

May 9, 2009

Kathleen Savios’s sister, Susan Doman speaks with Chris Cuomo on Good Morning America about Drew Peterson’s arrest.

Her sister Anna and her father bringing the wrongful death lawsuit against Peterson,

—————-

—————

Cuomo comments that last night was a new experience for her “when her head hit the pillow”.

DOMAN: It was a big relief, because he wasn’t out there going on all these shows, and just joking around, laughing.

It felt a safe place for me.

Cuomo mentions that Kathleen had written and spoken to Susan just days prior to her death, saying that she thought Drew was going to kill her and make it look like an accident.

DOMAN: She didn’t think – she told me.

She told me that ‘He’s going to kill me and he’s going to make it look like an accident.’

So she knew. And she was afraid. She didn’t want to go. She didn’t want to die.

About Peterson’s “I guess I should have returned the library books” comment:

DOMAN: He’s an idiot.

He doesn’t make any sense at all. He just makes a joke out of everything everything.

This is not fun and games.

He needs to face reality.

Peterson Atty Joel Brodsky – Today Show (video)

May 9, 2009

Updated: Drew Peterson posts (5-9)

May 9, 2009

Joel Brodsky media blitz goes on. He hasn’t been able to talk with Drew but he can talk with the media. He’s on the Today Show. He gives the same party line – Drew understands the seriousness of the charges, that’s what he does–he jokes, he is innocent, he doesn’t have to prove anything, weak circumstantial case, he can account for his whereabouts and the timeline is impossible.

And then he brings up the lie detector test again – the fact that Drew passed the relevant questions about Kathleen Savio. But any lawyer should know that partial evidence has no meaning. He wants Savio’s half to count – he can’t discount the fact that Peterson flunked 3/6 questions about Stacy – if she said she was going to leave him and her present whereabouts.

He better get a grip and stop mentioning the lie detector test. He comes off desperate and frightened and, frankly, unprepared.

I think the final straw for the Grand Jury was Drew making his teenage sons go on the Early Show and say what a great dad he is. It’s clear that wrongful death lawsuit was perfectly timed. It was meant to distract him and hope he said something…and that he did. He said he told Stacy’s children that she was on vacation and that she was never coming back. He didn’t realize it. Weird pause. And then the got angry at the end, which resulted in him forcing his kids to go on TV.

Justice might have been slow in coming but it will be full. Stacy will get her justice as well. There’s a moratorium on the death penalty in Illinois so that’s not on the table and he’s so old (55) there’s no reasonable way he can bargain down the time. And he might just end up in jail until his trial.

His children are the ones who are suffering and who will always suffer – especially when they realize that their dad took their mom away from them and then looked them in the eye and lied to them for years. And then there’s Drew’s oldest kids and Christina Raines’. Just sad and sick that one man can cause such grief and eternal brokenness.

Homemade video off the TV – but it shows how haltering Brodsky’s speech is when he lists he reasons why Drew is non-guilty and his desperateness about the lie detector test.

Peterson bizarre words caught on video

May 9, 2009

Updated: Drew Peterson posts (5-9)

May 9, 2009

WFLD in Chicago (FOX) put together a few of Peterson’s comments. I think they could have found some better ones. His most frightening statement was “the devil won this round”. Worse was the way Christina Raines laughed.

I bought Stacy a gun on Valentine’s Day because nothing says I love you like a Glock.

This is the biggest story I’ve ever seen in my life – ever. And I’m in the middle of it.

Kathleen Savio’s letter to State’s Attorney documenting Peterson’s abuse

May 9, 2009

Updated: Drew Peterson posts (5-8)

May 9, 2009

Here are the letters from Kathleen Savio to Assistant Will County State”s Attorney Elizabeth Fragale and FOX News anchor Walter Jacobsen in November 2002, documenting Drew Peterson’s abuse. There were 19 disturbance calls to her home over the 2 years prior to her death – answered by Drew Peterson’s own Bolingbrook police officers. She took out an order of protection against him and had numerous documented trips to the ER. She told her family he was going to kill her prior to the divorce settlement.

She was right.

In 2002, her sons were 8 & 9. They cried because Daddy’s girlfriend said she was going to marry Daddy while Mommy was still married to him.

Selected quotes from her letters AS IS.

(pdf from FOX)

The “girlfriend” is Stacy Peterson. Much the same as he had Christina Raines waiting in the wings. He’s known Christina for as long as he knew Stacy.

SAVIO: When I found out Mr. Peterson was having an affair with a minor at the police department, he began to get very violent. By striking me in the hand and chasing me around the house with a police stick.

He knows how to manipulate the system and his next step is to take my children away. Or Kill me instead.

After the judge awarded her child support, Peterson snuck into her house and jumped out wearing his SWAT uniform, scaring the hell out of her. He pinned her down and then held a knife to her neck.

SAVIO: He kept me in that position for a very long length of time, while trying to convince me how horrible I am and I need to die.

I thought I’d never see my boys again.

I didn’t tell the police because I know they can’t protect me from him.

I really feel Drew is a loose cannon.

He is out on the streets of Bolingbrook patrolling and just taking the law into his own hands. I haven’t received help from the police here in Bolingbrook, and I’m asking for your help now before its to late.

I’m really hoping by filing this charge it will stop him from trying to hurt me.

This is haunting. You can tell by the letters how frightened she was – just from their hurried tone as well as the words.

lettersfromkathleensavio

lettersfromkathleensaviopg 3

In this particular case, lack of filing of police records due to the fact that Officer Peterson is our friend is going to destroy my sons and my life. At the present time I am a nursing student struglliung to finish my goal, but because of the Officer’s false allegations he and his girlfriend are charging me with Battery.

This isn’t your typical domestic.

She was terrorized, as were her children, for years before she was murdered. He is even more evil than I already imagined. They should put him in the general population and let natural selection take its course.

Let the predator get a taste of being the prey…

What happened to “Energy Secretary Chu’s lead security detail”?

Updated H1N1 posts/symptoms/vaccine
Energy security detail contracted flu in Mexico
Flu Timeline: Secretary Chu Security detail

So what happened to the “lead security detail for Energy Secretary Chu” whi was infected with the flu?

Did he or didn’t he ever test positive? His wife and children? His nephew? His coworker?

Will his negative result (tested too late) not count him as a flu victim/carrier? How else did his family pick it up? How did he pick it up?

Last time I heard about it was at the press briefing. He was sent home on a commercial flight fully contagious. No word if he took precautions. It was early on so I doubt it.

Q    Robert, any update on the advance staffer?  The testing that you said he was undergoing yesterday?  And the flight that he took back from Mexico City –

MR. GIBBS:  I have to check onI did not check on the flight.  As I mentioned yesterday, that individual is back at work, having been cleared.  I have not heard updates from Mr. Brennan on those individual tests.  I don’t believe — and I’ll double-check this — I believe his testing has always come back negative, because, as I said yesterday, that virus had sort of run its course.  And I would just repeat that all four have recovered and are doing well.

Q    And nothing on the passengers that were on those flights?

MR. GIBBS:  Not that I have, no.

Proclamation: National Day of Prayer

May 9, 2009

May 7, 2009

Proclamation of National Prayer Day without a prayer service – what’s the point? He mentions the military and that he is doing it because it is required by law. Remember barry’s MO = political expediency = whatever Bush did, he will not do or he will do the opposite.

NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER, 2009
- – - – - – -
BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA
A PROCLAMATION

Throughout our Nation’s history, Americans have come together in moments of great challenge and uncertainty to humble themselves in prayer. In 1775, as the Continental Congress began the task of forging a new Nation, colonists were asked to observe a day of quiet humiliation and prayer. Almost a century later, as the flames of the Civil War burned from north to south, President Lincoln and the Congress once again asked the American people to pray as the fate of their Nation hung in the balance.

It is in that spirit of unity and reflection that we once again designate the first Thursday in May as the National Day of Prayer. Let us remember those who came before us, and let us each give thanks for the courage and compassion shown by so many in this country and around the world.

On this day of unity and prayer, let us also honor the service and sacrifice of the men and women of the United States Armed Forces. We celebrate their commitment to uphold our highest ideals, and we recognize that it is because of them that we continue to live in a Nation where people of all faiths can worship or not worship according to the dictates of their conscience.

Let us also use this day to come together in a moment of peace and goodwill. Our world grows smaller by the day, and our varied beliefs can bring us together to feed the hungry and comfort the afflicted; to make peace where there is strife; and to lift up those who have fallen on hard times. As we observe this day of prayer, we remember the one law that binds all great religions together: the Golden Rule, and its call to love one another; to understand one another; and to treat with dignity and respect those with whom we share a brief moment on this Earth.

The Congress, by Public Law 100-307, as amended, has called on the President to issue each year a proclamation designating the first Thursday in May as a “National Day of Prayer.”

NOW, THEREFORE, I, BARACK OBAMA, President of the United States of America, do hereby proclaim May 7, 2009, as a National Day of Prayer. I call upon Americans to pray in thanksgiving for our freedoms and blessings and to ask for God’s continued guidance, grace, and protection for this land that we love.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand this seventh day of May, in the year of our Lord two thousand nine, and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and thirty-third.

BARACK OBAMA
