Press conference re: Christopher Kelly’s death investigation. The mayor is giving it not the police chief who is standing off to the side and who he does not introduce. And he is an unprofessional jerk. Her face speaks volumes.
Country Club Hills Mayor DWIGHT WELCH:
We are treating this as a suicide death investigation but we’re also elevating it to the level – because of all the issues involved here – to a homicide investigation.
Working with Area 3 and Area 4 homicide investigators out of Chicago since last night as well as the FBI. Though they are the lead investigators.
We’re piecing things together as we go along. Quite frankly we’re not being given the whole truth. Flores has lawyered up, as we say in the trade.
Wouldn’t he if he was the last person seen alive with a key player in the Blago case? If not, he would be as demented as he is rude.
She’s hired a lawyer and is no longer speaking with police.
Not according to her lawyer. She’s more than willing to cooperate.
We found her wallet in the Escalade towed from the Oak Forest Hospital. And I’ll allow you folks to film that if you wish from the outside. It’s in our garage here.
He’s allowing them to film evidence that is part of a death investigation? They’re gonna go back there and tramp around and maybe even touch the vehicle the police don’t have the keys to?
Her wallet and her ID was [sic] found, as well as some drugs. I won’t go into detail what those were because that is part of our evidence chain.
He holds up her license for everyone to see and gives her address out loud. And this takes the cake:
Who’s Hispanic? Can anyone say this name Hispanically?
I’m giving you all this because we are not getting cooperation. This was the woman who was at the hospital our officer identified as the person who identified herself as the girlfriend of Christopher Kelly.
I hope she sues his ass off. This is the most unprofessional thing I have ever witnessed. What if something is amiss? What if Kelly knew something and somebody goes after Flores to find out if he said anything? What if there was something in a storage unit and it wasn’t Kelly’s and they go after Flores to find out where it is?
And Kelly admitted it was a suicide attempt and even Welch says it was a suicide attempt – so why the need to go after Flores? This is wrong.
We’re treating it like a homicide case because it’s a high profile case.
Then why didn’t they do an autopsy on John Ruff who drove his car into a tree for no reason?
Said it involved pain medicine – but he also mentioned Aleve.
We’re doing a death/suicide investigation…based on what the victim said to the officer at the hospital, we’re fairly certain of that [that it was suicide].
He mentioned that the white male with gray hair was familiar with the federal case against Blagojevich. Asked if it was Michael Monico – Kelly’s lawyer – he said he couldn’t comment.
