Sen Kennedy (eulogies/funeral music/speeches/videos)
PAUL KIRK, 71, former DNC Chairman and assistant to the late Sen Ted Kennedy was named as the temporary replacement by virtue of a newly-passed law allowing Governor Deval Patrick to do so. It basically reversed the law Democrats passed in 2004 to prevent Gov Mitt Romney from naming a replacement for John Kerry had he become President.
Kirk received the endorsement of Kennedy’s wife, Victoria, Ted Jr and Patrick Kennedy and was master of ceremonies at Kennedy’s memorial service so it’s not hard to imagine he was handpicked by his friend.
Kirk will only fill the spot – aka he will be the 60th vote – until January 20th, when a candidate will be voted into office, with the next election for that spot in 2012.
Not at all curiously Kirk lobbied for Sanofi-Aventis, as in the H1N1 vaccine, in the late 1990′s.
barry said he was “an excellent interim choice” in the same breath he told NY Governor Paterson to get lost already reminiscent of what they did to Secry Clinton. Wonder what she is up to….
