Adults: single low dose H1N1 vaccine enough

September 15, 2009

Updated H1N1 posts/symptoms/vaccine

“One low dose of vaccine showing ‘unbelievably impressive’ results.”

Why the surprise the vaccine works so well when the virus was man-made?

Australia Clinical Trial of H1N1 vaccine

  • 240 people ages 18 – 64.
  • Half 15 micrograms -  half 30 micrograms.
  • 15 mcgs – mild to moderate side effects comparable to seasonal flu vaccine
  • 21 days: Most had an immune response of at least 1:40 titers

1:40 titers on of the FDA requirements to approve the vaccine

NIH clinical trial much the same results

Strong immune response 8-10 days after 15 micrograms

So: one shot of 15 micrograms

…then there’s the season flu vaccine that the H1N1 vaccine doesn’t protect against.
