Gmail down again

Paranoid?

Why not.

What does Google, Facebook and Twitter have in common?

They crashed.

Gmail is down – the last time September 1 and previous to that in February (shortly after the Inauguration).

Most curiously, August 3rd, the Marines banned the use of Facebook, My Space and Twitter.

August 6th, they go down.

Not a coincidence – even for non-paranoids.

What did they do while it was down? It wasn’t just some guy in Georgia.

And on August 7th, Facebook emailed me saying it was time to come back and update my profile.

Didn’t know I had a Facebook account.

August 7th, 5 or 6 different ISPs from around the country visit via the same nonexistent link.

And 4 days ago barry was complaining to the Toledo Blade about the internet and the news all blogosphere without factchecking…rather hypocritical isn’t it?

Does he have his cyber czar yet?

Anti-birther HEIDI BEIRICH: “spread by right-wing nuts who are bizarre human beings”

September 24, 2009

birth certificate posts

Source: Concord Monitor’s SHIRA SCHOENBERG:

Here’s HEIDI BEIRICH, from the Southern Poverty Law Center (which tracks extremist groups) talking about birthers. Take careful note of what she is so positive she knows. Hint: Nothing.

Know that she is the director of research at the SPLC.

HEIDI BEIRICH: It’s a completely bogus claim. It’s been disproven by every reputable news organization in the country.

Every reputable…? Are there any in regards to the birth certifcate issue? If so, please name it. And please name the proof, starting with the hospital barry was born in.

HEIDI BEIRICH: A quick internet search turns up a copy of Obama’s birth certificate online. Not to mention there was a birth announcement in a Hawaii newspaper.

What do you think her own research is worth?

HEIDI BEIRICH: The birthers are so ludicrous that for their conspiracy to function, someone needed to plant a news item 40 years ago in anticipation of someone becoming president.

What do those notices prove?

They state a son was born to Mr and Mrs Barack H Obama. Period. They are not proof positive of anything.  There is no provenance. There is no one alive who can say how they got there. There is no one who can refute the possibility that grandmother Dunham called it in from a home birth or from Africa or from Mars. Just because there are two does not mean one corroborates the other. It just means two sets of the same words were placed in separate newspapers. One does not inherently prove the other more true. And it has nothing to do with him becoming president. It has to do with him just being a citizen. There is no leap of logic that means just because they were placed means they had to foresee he would one day be president.

And as far as the address – barry’s grandparents were said to have lived there. barry’s father maintained his own living space near the University and miles from that little yellow house and there is no evidence that barry sr and barry’s mom ever cohabitated.

And Ms Beirich is director of research and able to ridicule birthers and call things ludicrous when she doesn’t even know how old barry is? That they were placed 40 years ago in 1961?

Have these folks no shame?

And then this:

HEIDI BEIRICH: It was being spread by right-wing nuts who are bizarre human beings.

Listen to it this way: It was being spread by left wing blacks who are bizarre human beings…independent Muslims who are bizarre human beings. How is what she is saying any different than the inflammatory hate speech she is supposed to be researching?

The words may not be extreme and the folks they are directed at may be acceptable targets because they’re white – but the intent is the same – generalizing to a group and ascribing a negative stereotype to them and done in a belittling manner.

Do you think she has met any of these wing nuts who are bizarre human beings?

What exactly makes them bizarre?

Do you think there is a single one who doesn’t know his exact age and that it is not 40.

And if she doesn’t even know how old he is or able to count from 2009 to 1961, what are the chances she knows anything about him?

And here Ms Beinrich sums up her knowledge of the issue.

HEIDI BEIRICH: If you’re born in the U.S., you’re a U.S. citizen. Obama was born in the U.S. He’s a U.S. citizen, as much as they wish he wasn’t.

First the issue is not whether he was born on the US – but rather is he a Natural Born Citizen. All she says is US citizen. He could have been born in Hawaii and still not be eligible if he gave up his citizenship. And as of yet no one can name his actual physical birthplace and until they do he has not been proven to have born in Hawaii.

Second, she automatically assumes that if they have questions it’s because they wish he wasn’t born in the US. She doesn’t get that folks just want him to be transparent like he proclaims and prove he IS eligible. And it doesn’t mean that when and if he does and he is eligible that they will wish he wasn’t.

HEIDI BEIRICH RECAP:

1-Disproven by every reputable newsagency in the c0untry. (No)

2-His BIRTH CERTIFICATE is online. (No)

3-He’s 40. (48)

4-He was born in the US. (No one can name physical place of birth)

5-He’s a US citizen. (Needs to be a NBC)

6-Right wing nutjobs are bizarre human beings. (Alleged civil rights worker}

Surely she can’t believe this case will still be alive on October 6th?

Video of the day: “World’s longest basketball shot”

September 24, 2009

September 24, 2009

I don’t know anything about computers or digital editing – but to me this is for real. Somebody could simply analyze the sound of the ball hitting the glass. You can’t get that many different people – guys especially – watching the same thing to react in the same instantaneous way. They start to scream before it goes in. And the guy on the second level puts his hands up as well.

What didn’t sit well is the way they shortened it so much you have to keep replaying it so they get their hits. It’s a great shot – it’ll get it hits. They should have included the short clip, a replay slo-motion and they should have continued the live sound video from right after the shot for the viewer to watch/hear their reaction. They should have also included in the info – how many shots it took on how many days and whether that is a full-sized basketball. It doesn’t matter of they go into this elsewhere – it should right there.

It’s too bad their poor videomanship detracts from such a great shot. One comes away frustrated that it was clipped so tight and there was no replay included and not more of their reactions.

How long did it take to go from O-M-G to talk of cash?

Sen Ted Kennedy’s letter to POTUS

September 24, 2009

September 23, 2009

Updated list of Sen Kennedy (eulogies/funeral music/speeches/videos

Mrs Dightes -

I don’t know what other letter it could be if not this.

Follow the link above for the letter Sen Kennedy wrote to the Pope, Susan Graham signing “Ave Maria” and Placido Domingo singing Panis Angelicus accompanied by Yo-Yo Ma.

Text of letter written by the late Senator Ted Kennedy read by POTUS during his speech to Joint Session of Congress on September 9th. Aka the “You lie!” speech.

I truly wonder what Ted Kennedy thinks now that he knows everything?

=================================

May 12, 2009
Dear Mr. President,

I wanted to write a few final words to you to express my gratitude for your repeated personal kindnesses to me – and one last time, to salute your leadership in giving our country back its future and its truth.

On a personal level, you and Michelle reached out to Vicki, to our family and me in so many different ways. You helped to make these difficult months a happy time in my life.

You also made it a time of hope for me and for our country.

There will be struggles – there always have been – and they are already underway again. But as we moved forward in these months, I learned that you will not yield to calls to retreat – that you will stay with the cause until it is won. I saw your conviction that the time is now and witnessed your unwavering commitment and understanding that health care is a decisive issue for our future prosperity. But you have also reminded all of us that it concerns more than material things; that what we face is above all a moral issue; that at stake are not just the details of policy, but fundamental principles of social justice and the character of our country.

And so because of your vision and resolve, I came to believe that soon, very soon, affordable health coverage will be available to all, in an America where the state of a family’s health will never again depend on the amount of a family’s wealth. And while I will not see the victory, I was able to look forward and know that we will – yes, we will – fulfill the promise of health care in America as a right and not a privilege.

In closing, let me say again how proud I was to be part of your campaign- and proud as well to play a part in the early months of a new era of high purpose and achievement. I entered public life with a young President who inspired a generation and the world. It gives me great hope that as I leave, another young President inspires another generation and once more on America’s behalf inspires the entire world.

So, I wrote this to thank you one last time as a friend- and to stand with you one last time for change and the America we can become.

At the Denver Convention where you were nominated, I said the dream lives on.

And I finished this letter with unshakable faith that the dream will be fulfilled for this generation, and preserved and enlarged for generations to come.

With deep respect and abiding affection,
[Ted]

Milton Bradley’s “apology”

September 24, 2009

September 23, 2009

Good riddance to Milton Bradley

Do these sound like Bradley’s words?

MILTON BRADLEY:

I chose Chicago as a free agent because I wanted to be part of finally bringing a championship to the Cubs’ fans. I expected to have a great season and I am deeply disappointed by my performance and the team’s struggles. I played every game with everything that I had and wanted to desperately win. My frustration and disappointment boiled over and I said and did certain things that I regret. In hindsight, I wish that I handled certain things differently and I apologize for those things that did not work out for the better. The air has been cleared and we all want to move on and look forward to better days.

Bradley gets his $400K for doing nothing.

He was paid $750K per 1 RBI and he blamed it on the racist Cubfans.

I think Mr Cub should have had a talk with Bradley and told him what it was like playing in the Negro League and then having his words immortalized and bronze statue outside Wrigley.

Hopefully, Texas will take him back per the MLB multi-millionaire lemon deal.

POTUS re: Rosh Hashanah

September 24, 2009

September 17, 2009

Where was the “On behalf of the American people”?

[emphasis added]

REMARKS BY THE PRESIDENT ON THE OCCASION OF ROSH HASHANAH

As members of the Jewish faith here in America and around the world gather to celebrate the High Holidays, I want to extend my warmest wishes for this New Year. L’Shanah Tovah Tikatevu – may you have a good year, and may you be inscribed for blessing in the Book of Life.

Rosh Hashanah marks the start of a new year – a time of humble prayer, joyful celebration, and hope for a new beginning. Ten days later, Yom Kippur stands as a day of reflection and repentance. And this sacred time provides not just an opportunity for individual renewal and reconciliation, but for families, communities and even nations to heal old divisions, seek new understandings, and come together to build a better world for our children and grandchildren.

At the dawn of this New Year, let us rededicate ourselves to that work. Let us reject the impulse to harden ourselves to others’ suffering, and instead make a habit of empathy – of recognizing ourselves in each other and extending our compassion to those in need.

Let us resist prejudice, intolerance, and indifference in whatever forms they may take — let us stand up strongly to the scourge of anti-Semitism, which is still prevalent in far too many corners of our world.

Let us work to extend the rights and freedoms so many of us enjoy to all the world’s citizens – to speak and worship freely; to live free from violence and oppression; to make of our lives what we will.

And let us work to achieve lasting peace and security for the state of Israel, so that the Jewish state is fully accepted by its neighbors, and its children can live their dreams free from fear. That is why my Administration is actively pursuing the lasting peace that has eluded Israel and its Arab neighbors for so long.

Throughout history, the Jewish people have been, in the words of the Prophet Isaiah, “a light unto the nations.” Through an abiding commitment to faith, family, and justice, Jews have overcome extraordinary adversity, holding fast to the hope of a better tomorrow.

In this season of renewal, we celebrate that spirit; we honor a great and ancient faith; and we rededicate ourselves to the work of repairing this world.

Michelle and I wish all who celebrate Rosh Hashanah a healthy, peaceful and sweet New Year.

POTUS: Happy Eid-ul-Fitr

September 24, 2009

September 19, 2009

Another Muslim occasion to follow up the Muslim feast at the White House. Recall that Easter got an Easter Egg hunt. Next I’ll see what he wrote for Rosh Hashanah.

Do you recall such greetings when he was campaigning or just his vigorous denials that he wasn’t no Muslim?

[emphasis added]

STATEMENT BY THE PRESIDENT ON THE OCCASION OF EID-UL-FITR

As Muslims in the United States and around the world complete the month of Ramadan and celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr, Michelle and I would like to extend our personal greetings on this joyous occasion. Eid is a time to celebrate the completion of 30 days and nights of devotion. But even on this festive occasion, Muslims remember those less fortunate, including those impacted by poverty, hunger, conflict, and disease. Throughout the month, Muslim communities collect and distribute zakat-ul-fitr so that all Muslims are able to participate in this day of celebration. As I said in Cairo, my Administration is working to ensure that Muslims are able to fulfill their charitable obligations not just during Ramadan, but throughout the year.

On behalf of the American people, we congratulate Muslims in the United States and around the world on this blessed day. Eid Mubarak.

On behalf of the American people?

And there weren’t any offensives or bombings of killings of those well-wishing Americans during the last 30 days in Iraq or Afghanistan?

Oprah’s going to Copenhagen for Olympic bid

No Michael Jordan.

No POTUS.

But Oprah Winfrey is going to Copenhagen to lobby on Chicago’s behalf along with a contingent of Olympic athletes including Nadia Lukin, Nadia Comenchi, Michael Johnson

PATRICK G RYAN, Chairman and CEO of Chicago 2016:

As a member of our community and as someone who understands and demonstrates the value of helping others, [Oprah Winfrey] embodies the spirit of so many Chicagoans and is truly an emissary for our bid and for the city of Chicago.

It looks like the triumvirate: First Lady Michelle Obama, Valerie Jarrett and Oprah Winfrey are going to have to do the selling. Valerie Jarrett has predicted that after what FLOTUS says – “there won’t be a dry eye in the room”.

Does FLOTUS strike you as someone who can bring people to tears with her words?

CNN’s Dr Sanjay Gupta gets H1N1 in Afghanistan

Updated H1N1 posts/symptoms/vaccine
Common sense re: H1N1
Symptoms of H1N1 flu (CDC video)
CDC: H1N1 vaccine priority

As they say – to be a good doctor one must be a patient first.

CNN’s Dr Sanjay Gupta (once rumored to be barry’s pick for surgeon general – chose family and neurosurgery practice) went to do some medical reporting in Afghanistan and promptly came down with H1N1. His cameraman too.

He didn’t say where he thought he got it and apparently did not receive the vaccine. He also didn’t state the precautions he took on the flight home or in his home where there are three young girls and a wife.

He gave an excellent account of his symptoms and the justifications for believing it’s anything but the flu.

He said it started with a very painful cough followed by fever, sinus congestion, body aches, anorexia and exhaustion. One of the hallmarks of H1N1 is headache, so the variance with the cough being worse probably had something to do with the climate/environment.

Since they weren’t able to tolerate any food, he and his cameraman received IV fluids. They weren’t given antivirals but were given sinus decongestant “the same [his] wife would’ve given [him]“.

Dr Gupta said he’s “not someone who gets sick” and that “it was the sickest [he has] ever been” and that he “would’ve much preferred [his] own bed with all the comforts of home – including a wife who would’ve taken great pity on [him] and allowed [him] lots of rest and relaxation.”

I wonder if she would have felt the same way. They have a daughter who is under a year old.

He closes:

A lot of people will get the exact symptoms I described above, and for most people, it will simply mean a few miserable days, hopefully spent in your home – and not in a war zone.

Imagine having a bad headache with bombs and gunfire going around you. Sure hope the troops are given the vaccine and antivirals, if needed.

And if a grown man, who happens to be a neurosurgeon, misses his wife caring for him – imagine an 18 y/o kid whose never been away from home and has no experience taking care or comforting himself when he’s sick.

Very sad to contemplate.

Updated H1N1 posts/symptoms/vaccine
CDC: H1N1 vaccine priority
Common sense re: H1N1

Here’s the CDC’s Dr Joe Bresee re: symptoms of H1N1. A couple of days later it was no longer “swine flu”. Folks actually thought you could get it from eating pork. H1N1 virus = swine & avian viruses. And no matter what they say it’s manmade.

Fever, cough, sore throat, body aches, head ache, chills, fatigue – sometimes diarrhea/vomiting

Symptoms in need of emergency care

Children: fast or troubled breathing, bluish skin color, not drinking enough fluids, trouble waking up/interacting, too irritable to be held, fever with rash and flu-like symptoms that improve and then return with fever or worse cough.

Adults: Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath pain/pressure in chest/abdomen, sudden dizziness, confusion, severe or persistent vomiting.

Could be contagious as long as they are symptomatic and possibly up to seven days following the onset of illness – younger children may be contagious longer.

Anti-viral drugs (Tamiflu, Relenza) work best within 2 days.

Two different 2008 DNC OCONs
OCONs: Gore, Kerry, 2008 Hawaii, 2008 South Carolina
Comparison of HI & non-HI OCON forms for Gore, Kerry, barry

Hi Kyle.

Good thoughts about that. Please feel free to make your comments public. I’ve saved them in case you change your mind. None of us our experts – least of which me. I don’t really care what’s on that paper. I care that he is being allowed to hide things and that the press is so obviously covering for him.

Bill O’Reilly admitted that he could find out if he wanted. He outed himself as being bought and paid for. He doesn’t know where barry was born and he “doesn’t care”.

Not sure why you would think one of them is a forgery?

Who would bother? And besides there was a reason – HI needed the extra clause. The why Hawaii needed that clause is the mystery.

Not sure what you’re getting at but I think I can nip it in the bud.

First was the common typo “though” for “through” which would not show up on spellcheck. That establishes that both forms came from the same mother form. And the fact that it was there as far back as 2000 makes it a simple typo.

2000 GORE OFFICIAL CERTIFICATION OF NOMINATION (OCON)

though 2000

2004 KERRY OCOM

though 2004

2008 Hawii OCOM

THOUGH HI

2008 South Carolina OCOM

THOUGH SC

So it’s clear that the basic form without the clause has been there from at least 2000. And it’s clear that it was used to produce the 2008 Hawaii form.

But here’s the tricky part. The 2000/2004 forms Riggs supplied didn’t have the state. I’ve emailed him – no response.

Here are closeups of the signatures. The Notary Public’s signature is so fancy it would be impossible to duplicate – probably way she does it that way. Just try to make a W. And she doesn’t sign it until the other two do and she is not notarizing the content or purpose of the paper she signs.

What strikes me of course is the HI “N” of Nancy. I’m thinking she signed that form first because it looks like the ink was dry and she had to go over it again. (Of course the Pope would say she had a guilty conscience much the same as Justice Roberts at the Inauguration.) Or she signed it a while later. But that is clearly her signature – the distinct N’s and the Ls looks almost exactly similar.

Alice Germond in the HI minorly messes up her C, I, N but that is clearly her signature. I would bet Ms Germond is Pelosi’s vintage. Ms Williamson is clearly younger.

[The darkness is due to different copies]

SC (NO Constitutional clause) Nancy Pelosi

pelosi SC

HI (Constitutional clause) Nancy Pelosi

PELOSI HI

SC – Alice Travis Germond, Secretary Democratic National Convention

ALICE GERMOND SC

HI – Alice Travis Germond, Secretary Democratic National Convention

ALICE GERMOND HI

SC -Shalifa A. Williamson, Notary Public

shalifa SC

HI -Shalifa A. Williamson, Notary Public

SHALIFA HI

SC – DATE

DATE SC

HI – DATE

date HI

So you can see, Kyle, they are not forgeries.

As far as the Notary Public – I thought they would be disinterested third parties from whatever state they happened to be in. Not in this case.

Shalifa Williamson appears to have been on the payroll.

This is from an article - 9NEWS

Democratic Party Chairman Howard Dean and members of the Democratic National Convention Committee picked up paintbrushes to help refurbish a classroom at a local school Thursday.

.Shalifa Williamson of Aurora said she’s enjoying doing public service projects with other Democratic staffers from around the country. “It’s like a big happy family now,” she said.

The DNCC says the Manual project was one of several it’s undertaken in Denver while planning the Democratic National Convention, set to be at the Pepsi Center in August.

Right down to who witnesses Pelosi’s signature.

She’s not a notary public who happened to sign the forms, she’s a member of the DNCC who happens to be a NP.

So how long has she been around?

This is from OPEN SECRETS.

So what are all these payments for?

It appears she is the wife of DaVarryl Williamson who is a serious heavyweight boxer and who grew up in the DC area.

John Fosholt wrote the article above. He is also VP of the Colorado Freedom of Information Council. So I tried to email him about the article and also about how I could get copies of the Colorado forms – but my email came back undeliverable. Tried another one – no luck. Here’s his email john.fosholt@9news.com. It’s possible Citizen Riggs went down this path but who knows.

I also wonder if he contacted the Secretary Alice Travis Germond.

What does any of it matter?

Probably doesn’t. RNC  probably has their own NP on salary as well.

Though it would have been nice to get the Colorado forms to see if they were both of record at the convention. Whether both files were filed with the Colorado Democratic Party office or whatever.

Outside those three women, did anyone else see those papers?

Outside Hawaii, did any other state know there were two forms?

Did they hand Hawaii its form right there and then?

And how could this investigation be complete without a correspondence to Ms Germond? She signed the 2004 & 2008 forms. She of all people would know if the 2008 Hawaii form was out of the ordinary.

This information has been available since February 2009 and neither Taitz, Berg or Donofrio used it in their cases. Mario Apuzzo referenced it his filings but made no big deal about it. It’s the one case we didn’t follow out of the major ones. And the Arizona thing I have to go find. I don’t remember hearing about that.

SCRIBD Page 78/87 Kerchner et al v Obama & Congress

Kerchner

I still can’t figure out why folks didn’t/don’t find this worth pursuing. It’s a paper trail open to any/every citizen if one knows where to get the info. I must be missing something. Why go to court to get vital records when you can possibly prove the COLB is fake and/or Pelosi never looked at?

Has anyone gotten Nanci Pelosi to go on record about this? Howard Dean? The Hawaii Democratic Party?

If nothing else, why hasn’t anyone sent it to Rep Posey to look over?

NTSB CHAIRMAN TESTIFIES BEFORE CONGRESS

NTSB Chairman Deborah A. P. Hersman testified today on the status of the ongoing investigation into the mid-air collision over the Hudson River. The collision occurred on August 8 between a helicopter and an airplane.  All 9 persons on board both aircraft were killed.

Chairman Hersman provided an overview of the ongoing investigation based on facts that have been identified to date. The testimony did not provide any analysis or conclusions on what may have caused the accident.

At the hearing before the Subcommittee on Aviation on Transportation and Infrastructure, Hersman noted that the Safety Board has identified some areas of concern that have prompted the Board to issue safety recommendations early in its investigation.

We issued early recommendations prior to the conclusion of our investigation because this accident demonstrated that there is a need for new procedures to be put in place to minimize the risk of collision,” said Chairman Hersman. “The Federal Aviation Administration has taken quick action to address operational changes in the Hudson corridor.  We are reviewing their proposal to determine if it meets the intent of our recommendations.”

Also during her testimony, Chairman Hersman presented an animation depicting the accident sequence.  The animation was created based on radar data and audio from Air Traffic Control communications.

Good riddance to Milton Bradley

Milton Bradley’s “apology

It’s time for Mr Monopoly to play Tiddlywinks so he doesn’t “injure” his knee again. It’s too late for him to play Simon Says and keep his mouth shut. What he got he deserved – only he deserved it back in June after disrespecting his Coach.

And had he been gone…?

Had he never come?

Bradley, like LaTroy Hawkins before him, was not made for a market and fans that would hold them accountable. Hawkins mouth is still getting him in trouble and Bradley just plain sucks. He is a product of guaranteed salaries. He wouldn’t have lasted 2 minuted in Leo Durocher’s clubhouse and the Cubs sure have played better since he was summarily dismissed.

He got paid $10 million for this: BA .257, 12 HR, 40 RBI, OBP .378.

And DeRosa: .258, 23 HR, 78 RBI, OBP .327.

More at bats, more games, less strike outs, multiple positions, great attitude, talks with the press and he’s a 2-run homer away from having twice as many HR & RBI.

Then add in how many games Milty didn’t play and the antics he had in the ones he did. The expulsion by Lou during the Sox series, the Gatorade dispenser, bumping umpires, throwing the ball into the stands with 2 outs, jogging to balls, his not even moving on the inside the park HR when the ball rolled toward right and it took 7 seconds for Fukodome to track it down – Bradley still not close, jogging on the bases and screaming back at out of town hecklers.

Just wrong: Calling the fans racist for getting on him after his shitty season and after he says this: “I just pray the game is nine innings so I can be out there the least amount of time as possible and go home.”

Just stupid: Refusing to talk with the press.

Cardinal sins: taking himself out of the game by faking an injury, refusing to pinch hit and then getting in the face of the hitting coach right in the dugout and then saying he can understand why the Cubs have never won.

From the Daily Herald’s BRUCE MILES:

Did he enjoy his first (and I hope only) season in Chicago?

Not really. It’s just not a positive environment. I need a stable, healthy, enjoyable environment. There’s too many people everywhere in your face with a microphone asking the same questions repeatedly. Everything is just bashing you. You go out there and you play harder than anybody on the field and never get credit for it. It’s just negativity.

From that statement it’s clear he’s in need of medication. And what more credit does need with a $10 million paycheck? And the negativity seems to have gone away since he’s has.

And you understand why they haven’t won in 100 years here, because it’s negative. It’s what it is.

One wishes he had said that April 8th. Then maybe we wouldn’t have had to put up with him. Hendry blew it bad.

Did Bradley include himself in that negativity? The negativity that brings 3 millions fans to Wrigley and everywhere else on the road? Nope.

It’s everything. It’s everybody.

Everybody, everything but himself. True sign of a loser.

Jim Hendry:

The only real negativity here is his own production.

The last few days became too much for me to tolerate. I’m certainly not going to let our great fans become an excuse. I’m not going to tolerate not being able to answer questions from the media respectfully. Whether you feel like talking or not it’s all part of our jobs. … And I’m certainly not going to let a player talk about negativity of the organization.

And the new owners probably said dump the loser.

How could Hendry feel this guy could do anything?

Did he even talk to the guy, who can’t look anyone in the eye? A guy who wouldn’t listen to Derek Lee?

And why on earth was he worth $30M?

Hendry is singlehandedly responsible for this season. So intent on getting lefthanded bats — even though the Cubs had the best average against RH pitchers – he picks up a guy that’s been on a new team almost every year and then signs him to a 3-yr deal , in the process giving up the best two clubhouse guys we had: Kerry Wood and Mark DeRosa.

Lou Pinella:

I don’t know how many times I heard from the media last year we had the best clubhouse in the league. Things don’t change that rapidly in a year.

It’s called the Bradley Effect.

If Wood had been there instead of Gregg?

Mark DeRosa generated as many runs as Albert Pujols last year and Hendry trades him.

If DeRosa had been around instead of Mike Fontenot when Ramirez went down?

How did Hendry give up a guy like DeRosa who can play in/outfield, can hit anywhere in the order, knows how to baserun, loves the game, loves Wrigley for a piece of crap that doesn’t love the game, doesn’t love Wrigley, can’t even play his one and only position and hits like crap, jogs on the basepath and takes himself out of the game?

How hard is it to count to three – especially when there is a mammoth scoreboard a head turn away?

I hope Bradley never sets foot in Wrigley again. He doesn’t deserve to be on the field anywhere with his attitude. Someone who loves the game should get a chance.

But if he decides to fight the suspension, which would reveal his idiocy for all to see (he’s getting paid) and guarantee very little success of anyone taking him, I hope the media has first dibs.

The real loser in all this is Ron Santo, who doesn’t have a whole lot of seasons left. And to have to put up with watching someone like Bradley must have driven him crazy. Not to mention losing his good buddy Kerry Wood.

DEAR JIM HENDRY:

Mark DeRosa has put off signing with the Cardinals until after the season because he wants to come back to the Cubs. If you get him back perhaps we can forgive you this season…

NTSB: Preliminary report Hudson plane vs helicopter mid-air collision

September 23, 2009

Updated posts: Hudson plane vs helicopter mid-air collision
Animation: Hudson Plane vs Helicopter mid-air collision

This seems to have gone missing since it wasn’t in with the other posts. It’s the preliminary NTSB report re: plane vs helicopter mid-air collision over the Hudson.

From what I gather from the report:

  • Visual flight rules.
  • No flight plans for either aircraft required.
  • Pilot given the option to fly straight out – opted to fly down the river.
  • Pilot requested flight-following services from TEB ATC.
  • Existing procedures did not require TEB ATC to coordinate for a Class B clearance.
  • Flying down the Hudson necessitated eventual coordination with NEWARK for authorization to climb into the class B airspace.
  • Pilot did not contact NEWARK before the accident.

My unprofessional opinion from report:Unfortunate accident that it appears cannot be blamed on ATC. The phone call was not good but does not appear to factor in to him not doing his duty, as per procedures. Pilot given the option chose to fly down the river…pilot asked for guidance which he got from TEB ATC…TEB ATC turned him over to Newark which pilot would need to contact to climb into Class B airspace…pilot didn’t contact Newark…collision happened at 1100 feet – right at the dividing line of airspace.

PRELIMINARY NTSB REPORT

NTSB Identification: ERA09MA447B
Nonscheduled 14 CFR Part 135: Air Taxi & Commuter
Accident occurred Saturday, August 08, 2009 in Hoboken, NJ
Aircraft: EUROCOPTER AS 350 BA, registration: N401LH
Injuries: 9 Fatal.

On August 8, 2009, about 1153 eastern daylight time, a Piper PA-32R-300 airplane, N71MC, operated by a private pilot, and a Eurocopter AS350 BA helicopter, N401LH, operated by Liberty Helicopters, were substantially damaged following a midair collision over the Hudson River near Hoboken, New Jersey. The certificated private pilot and two passengers aboard the airplane and the certificated commercial pilot and five passengers aboard the helicopter and were killed. The airplane flight was a personal flight conducted under the provisions of 14 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 91.The helicopter flight was a local sightseeing flight conducted under the provisions of 14 CFR Parts 135 and 136. The airplane departed Teterboro Airport (TEB), Teterboro, New Jersey, about 1149, destined for Ocean City Municipal Airport, Ocean City, New Jersey. The helicopter departed West 30th Street Heliport, New York, New York, about 1152.

Visual meteorological conditions prevailed and no flight plans were required or filed for either flight.

However, the pilot of the airplane requested flight-following services from TEB air traffic control (ATC).

The pilot of the accident airplane contacted the clearance delivery controller in the TEB ATC tower about 1140:01, requesting departure clearance and VFR radar traffic advisory service en route to Ocean City, New Jersey, at 3,500 feet. The pilot’s requested route and altitude required that the flight enter the class B airspace overlying TEB. The clearance delivery controller issued the pilot a discrete transponder code.

While the airplane was taxiing to the runway, the TEB local controller offered the pilot the choice of departing TEB straight out or over the river.

The pilot elected to fly down the Hudson River, which necessitated eventual coordination with controllers at EWR for authorization to climb into the class B airspace.

However, existing procedures did not require TEB controllers to coordinate for a class B clearance for the pilot, and the local controller did not do so.

The accident airplane departed TEB about 1149 and the local controller advised the pilot of a helicopter arriving at the airport. The local controller instructed the pilot to remain at or below 1,100 feet. At this time, the tower controller initiated a non-business-related phone call to Teterboro Airport Operations which lasted until about one second prior to the collision. The airplane flew southbound until the local controller instructed the pilot to turn left (southeast) and join the Hudson River.

About 1152:20, the pilot acknowledged an instruction from the TEB local controller to change frequencies and contact controllers at EWR. A preliminary review of recorded ATC communications showed that the pilot did not contact EWR before the accident. About 1153:17, about the time of the accident, the TEB local controller contacted the EWR controller to ask about the airplane and was told that the pilot had not called. There are no known additional ATC contacts with the airplane. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has not determined what frequency the pilot was monitoring at the time of the accident.

The accident helicopter departed from the 30th Street Heliport, which is in the Hudson River class B exclusion area, about 1152, for a 12-minute tour. The initial part of the tour was to be flown below class B airspace, so the pilot was not required to contact ATC. Although the nature of any transmissions made by aircraft on the CTAF is not known because the CTAF is not recorded, a Liberty Helicopters’ pilot waiting to depart from the heliport reported that the pilot of the accident helicopter made a position report on the CTAF just before the collision. The first radar target for the accident helicopter was detected by the Federal Aviation Administration’s EWR radar site about 1152:27, when the helicopter was west of the heliport, approximately mid river, and climbing through 400 feet. According to recorded radar data, the helicopter flew to the west side of the river and then turned south to follow the Hudson River. The accident helicopter continued climbing southbound until 1153:14, when the collision occurred.

Radar data and witness statements indicate that the aircraft collided at 1,100 feet in the vicinity of Stevens Point. Most of the wreckage fell into the Hudson River; however, some small debris from the airplane, including the right main landing gear wheel, fell on land within the city limits of Hoboken. The collision was witnessed by numerous people in the area of the accident and was immediately reported to local emergency responders. The helicopter was recovered on August 9, 2009. Most of the helicopter components were accounted for at the scene, with the exception of the main rotor and transmission. The airplane was recovered on August 11, 2009. Most of the airplane components were accounted for at the scene, with the exception of both wings. The wreckage of both aircraft were subsequently transported to a secure facility in Delaware.

The pilot of the airplane, age 60, held a private pilot certificate, with ratings for airplane single-engine land, airplane multiengine land and instrument airplane. His most recent FAA third-class medical certificate was issued on May 14, 2009. At that time he reported a total flight experience of 1,020 hours.

The pilot of the helicopter, age 32, held a commercial pilot certificate, with ratings for rotorcraft helicopter and instrument helicopter. His most recent FAA second-class medical certificate was issued on June 16, 2009. At that time he reported a total flight experience of 3,010 hours.

Digital photographs and a video recording taken by witnesses to the accident have been provided to the NTSB. In addition, a digital camera was recovered from the helicopter. All of these were sent to the NTSB Vehicle Recorders Laboratory in Washington, D.C. for further examination. Global Positioning System units were recovered from both aircraft and also forwarded to the NTSB Vehicle Recorders Laboratory.

The recorded weather at TEB at 1151 was wind variable at 3 knots, visibility 10 miles, sky clear, temperature 24 degrees Celsius, dew point 7 degrees Celsius, altimeter 30.23 inches of mercury.

barry’s 6/08 flight incident = inadvertent deployed slide

Updated posts: Hudson plane vs helicopter mid-air collision
Flight 1549 appearances/videos/posts

All you conspiracists remember barry’s plane diversion to St Louis en route to Charlotte from Chicago?

The nefarious cause was the inadvertent inflation of the evacuation slide because it was not properly secured. Though one wonders why it took so long to make a final ruling on something so clearly straightforward.

Here’s the NTSB report along with Exhibit A. [emphasis added]

NTSB DETERMINES PROBABLE CAUSE OF EVACUATION SLIDE INFLATION INCIDENT ABOARD AIRCRAFT CARRYING THEN SENATOR OBAMA

Washington, DC – The National Transportation Safety Board has determined that the incident last year involving an uncommanded pitch-up aboard an aircraft occurred as a result of the inadvertent partial inflation of the evacuation slide and subsequent binding of the elevator control cables. Contributing to this incident was the evacuation slide cover failing to be secured to the floor fittings on the walkway.

http://www.ntsb.gov/Pressrel/2008/images/Deployed_slide.jpg

Deployed slide

At 8:45 a.m. (CDT) on July 7, 2008, a McDonnell Douglas MD- 81, carrying then Senator Barack Obama, experienced a tailcone evacuation slide inflation shortly after takeoff. The aircraft was operated by Midwest Airlines as Flight #8663 and took off from Chicago, Illinois for Charlotte, North Carolina.

According to post-incident flight crew statements, during the initial climb, the airplane’s pitch increased without a corresponding flight control input and exceeded normal limits before the captain was able to regain control. Once under control, the airplane was diverted to Lambert-St. Louis International Airport and made an uneventful landing at about 9:00 a.m. (CDT). None of the 2 flight crewmembers, 4 flight attendants, 2 airline representatives, or 43 passengers were injured.

Post-incident inspection of the airplane indicated that the tailcone evacuation slide had inflated inside the tail area of the airplane as it had lifted off; this resulted in the reported pitch control restriction. The airplane received minor damage to the evacuation slide, the walkway, and a set of elevator cables in the tailcone.

Shortly after the incident, the carrier released a maintenance alert bulletin describing the incident and initial investigation findings, as well as a revision to the service check agenda, which added specific instructions for maintenance personnel for verifying proper slide installation. Additionally, the aircraft manufacturer has agreed to publish a Fleet Digest article on the incident to notify other carriers of the findings.

barry on Letterman. Watch the dramatic entrance, which they had to include.

Letterman talks about townhalls and Jimmy Carter’s comments.

BARRY: I think it’s important to realize that I was actually black before the election.

He brings up FDR, JFK and Ronald Reagan.

One of the things you sign up for in politics is folks yell at ya.

Overwhelming majority of people — Republican or Democrat — they just want to see some common sense, they want to see  somehonesty and integrity in Washington. I think theyrre turned off by the shouting and they yelling. They expect more from their public officials.

Why did Hawaii need the extra clause?

Two different 2008 DNC OCONs
OCONs: Gore, Kerry, 2008 Hawaii, 2008 South Carolina
Comparison of HI & non-HI OCON forms for Gore, Kerry, barry

Hey Kyle.

It took me awhile but I finally figured out what bothered me about the Hawaii forms that Citizen Riggs provided. They’re not stamped. There’s a suggestion of something on the top left on both the Hawaii Democratic Party or the DNC Official Certification of Nomination (OCON). But it’s nothing like the other stamps that were perfectly clear. I emailed Riggs to find out why. [Also asked him what states the 2000-2004 forms were from.]

The other thing is why EXACTLY did Hawaii need the extra clause?

Again, I don’t know how long Hawaii has required it but from the consistent typos, I would imagine it was just this year. Will update this later when I find out for sure.

The reason I’m wondering is because of the Hawaii Democratic Party’s OCON is dated the 27th. Makes sense because the states had to have theirs in for the roll call so the DNC could do theirs on the 28th.

Wouldn’t you like to know if one was ever typed up with Hillary Clinton’s name on it – JOKE. It’s clear that it’s an all male form.

But the wording of the form is:

HI OFF CERT NOM

…LEGALLY QUALIFIED TO SERVE under the PROVISIONS OF THE NATIONAL DEMOCRATIC PARTIES BALLOTING AT THE PRESIDENTIAL PREFERENCE POLL AND CAUCUS held on Feb 19th, 2008 in the State of Hawaii and by the acclamation…AT THE NATIONAL DEMOCRATIC CONVENTION…

[Another typo: "Parties" should be "Party's"]

So what are those provisions?

I wonder if Riggs has a copy of those. I just looked on Scribd again and didn’t see anything new.

Are all the caucuses called “Presidential Poll and Caucus” or just HI?

Do they all have the same provisions?

Does it include the eligibility clause?

Is it another standard form or does it vary state to state?

It goes back to who certified him as eligible to go on the ballots in the first place.

If we assume that HI is the only state that needs that extra clause – then it means the other 49 don’t.

So what do the other 49 go on?

Does the DNC send something out to whoever is responsible for sending the ballot names to the printer saying the Democratic candidates are eligible?

Do the Secretaries of each State receive a standard form from the DNC certifying as eligible the candidates BEFORE the names go on?

I still do not know what happens and who certifies what (if anything) before the names get placed on the primary ballots. That crazy Communist (not that One) the one from Nicaragua got his name on ballots in this election and last and nobody cared.

Do the candidates sign anything in the individual states?

Did barry ever sign anything saying he was Constitutionally eligible?

If so, was it before or after that COLB showed up?

If so, did he have to provide any tangible evidence or just a signature?

Was there a box – will provide proof on demand?

If he did say he was Constitutionally eligible in a state BEFORE he put up that worthless COLB – that state should be able to request a COLB hardcopy to put with their records. Of course, it’s not going to change the state’s vote but it should allow them to ask for it, which is all that’s needed.

I do not understand why folks keep searching for the Holy Grail in Kenya, Hawaii or in the courts when all that’s needed is to prove that COLB is a fake.

Bottom line:

49 states did not need that clause

13 of those 49 states had caucuses that evidently were enough that they didn’t require that clause.

Hawaii, a caucus state, needed that extra clause for what reason?

To provide a back up for barry’s “vital records”?

Mrs barry couldn’t live with the Clintons down the hall

September 21, 2009

September 21, 2009

New book detailing barry’s marriage: “Barack and Michelle: Portrait of an American Marriage,” by author Christopher Andersen. Seems the truth only comes out once the journalist gets paid for it. The true side of Mrs barry comes out. Here’s what the woman who positively beamed about then Sen Clinton on the Larry King Show after barry was given the nomination had to say about the VP slot.

Do you really want Bill and Hillary just down the hall from you in the White House?

Could you live with that?

Of course he couldn’t. The Clintons are both more powerful than the barry’s and will be no matter what the barrys do. And they don’t seem to have any problems calling the Clintons when they need help, do they? Mrs barry didn’t seem to have any problem going on vacation while then Sen Clinton campaigned for her husband.

It’s these kind of enlightenments (and the many more to come) that make people so angry with them – especially the Hillary people who already think the nomination was stolen from her.

So are the angry people going to be called racists? Too?

Mr Clinton: “we need to win [healthcare] on the merits” not race baiting

September 21, 2009

September 21, 2009

This had to have been awkward. barry and his minions accused President Clinton of racism much the same as they did after the You lie! comment. And yet, here he is the consummate professional coming to barry’s aid. Again. And of course he wasn’t going to let Jimmy Carter go unrebutted.

President Clinton talked with Larry King:

I believe that some of the right-wing extremists which oppose President Obama are also racially prejudiced and would prefer not to have an African-American president.
But I don’t believe that all the people who oppose him on health care – and all the conservatives – are racists.
Note that he points out that not just conservatives are against healthcare reform.
And I believe if he were white, every single person who opposes him now, would be opposing him then.
Therefore, while I have devoted my life to getting rid of racism, I think this is a fight that my president and our party – this is one we need to win on the merits.

Which president is he talking about?

I really think that we should disaggregate lingering problems of discrimination from the attacks to which the president is subject.
