Barely October and healthcare workers are suing over mandatory flu shots.

In this case, the Washington State Nurses Association (16K strong) filed a federal lawsuit against MultiCare Health System (Tacoma General and Good Samaritan hospitals). They are objecting to a new policy requiring nurses to either get the flu vaccine or wear a face mask (at all times when they are on duty) as a condition of continued employment.

Imagine a strike by 16K nurses during a flu outbreak.

They have no problem with a voluntary policy and state that a mandatory policy should be overseen by the state or federal government and not just decided on by MultiCare. And instead of just announcing it, they had a legal obligation to first negotiate with the union.

I can see the union bargaining violation, but every healthcare worker has to be tested for tuberculosis and they are given an option – although completely unrealistic.
