Captain Sullenberger is out doing press for new book: Highest Duty.
Matt Lauer must have gotten the first interview or else he wouldn’t have done it. Lauer refused to let Flight 1549 go on NBC because Capt Sullenberger canceled and Katie Couric 60 Minutes got the first interview.
Never made eye contact with Jeff Skiles.
He never thought he was going to die.
Based on his experience, he knew he could make a water landing.
His family did not intrude on his concentration.
His father committed suicide in the 70′s – evidently he was sick.
Important story to tell because it makes him who he is.
Good will ambassador for the industry.
