This isn’t much of a surprise.
Counting down to an “accidental” unmooring (all caught on video) and then calling the FAA and a local affiliate before he called 911?
Balloon boy was put up to it by his parents. Just like he said to Wolf. Police knew on Friday it was a hoax but played along.
They’re still unclear about the exact whereabouts of balloon boy during that time. He may not even been home when police searched it.
CNN: Sheriff Jim Alderden of Larimer County (v1deo):
It has been determined that this is a hoax…we have evidence at this point to indicate that it was a publicity stunt done the hopes of better marketing themselves for a reality show at some point in the future.
Two prior calls – both 911 hang ups.
One a juvenile – accident. The other possible domestic violation situation but didn’t need to investigate.
Nothing set yet.
- Charges not filed as yet.
- Expected/probable felony charges: conspiracy, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and attempting to influence a public servant.
- Misdemeanor: filing a false police report.
- Jail time unlikely
They should have to pay for the rescue. At least 80 people were involved.
