Now that they’ve looked into blago patronage at University of Illinois it’s time to look at blago’s hirings — nothing he has been charged with.
According to the Sun Times’ DAVE McKINNEY, TIM NOVAK & CHRIS FUSCO, Blagojevich’s jobs machine database:
386 political sponsors and 5,700 candidates for jobs or promotions controlled by Blagojevich’s administration. Beyond the nearly 2,500 people who got hired or promoted, dozens more were appointed by the governor to paid and unpaid state board positions.
• The electronic record includes 17 folders broken into categories identifying political sponsors who made recommendations on hires and promotions. Among them: “aldermen,” “chairmen,” “congressmen,” “SEN-D” and “reverends.”
Only a handful of people in the ex-governor’s inner circle had access to the hiring database, which was turned over to federal authorities by Blagojevich’s administration in response to an October 2005 subpoena.
And this is how they don’t mention barry (and Emanuel) in the story:
There were Illinois legislators and the current occupant of the White House. Even current Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton is listed as sponsoring a job transfer for a childhood friend.
That way barry doesn’t show up in Google searches related to this article but Secy Clinton would. And Clinton didn’t sponsor anything. The woman in question already had the job and was transferred within the same agency as the need arose. It appears the Sun Times’ folks have been gotten to also.
barry and RAHM EMANUEL recommended folks who didn’t already have a job – but to hear about that you have to go to separate article.
Most jobs went to blago’s father-in-law ALD DICK MELL: asked for 293 – got 110.
CHRIS KELLY asked for 170 – got 66.
barry’s good friend and primary campaign fundraiser, Syrian-born TONY REZKO asked for 123 – got 37 – 18 got posts on state boards or commissions.
barry asked for 16 – got 5
I think we submitted just a list of people that were mostly, you know, some of them were people who’d sent us resumes in the past or other people we thought … might be interested. But they weren’t people who were connected to our political organization in any meaningful way. Or they weren’t people I knew particularly well.
Laura Hunter, Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity ($75K)
Michelle D. Jackson, Department of Children and Family ServiceS ($75k)
Mal Williams, Department of Human Services
Shneare Mitchell, Commerce Agency
Brian Wojcicki, a student worker with Central Management Services
I haven’t been able to find the other 11 names.
RAHM EMANUEL: Wanted 7 got 4
Stephanie Arkin, Allan B. Ross, Carla Scarsella and Michael Borovik
REP BOBBY RUSH: wanted 23, including 3 members of his family:
I don’t know who came up with the list, but it’s not factual. Some of those names, I don’t know. None of those names are names I recommended, even my son. He used his own juice to get a job.
And who was at Blago’s side to race bait when Mr Burris was appointed?
