Flight 1549 appearances/videos/posts
I found this at Sling looking for the passengers who were on the Early Show the other day. [Here] It’s the full David Letterman video of Flight 1549 crew from February 10. (The ones we had were homemade and incomplete.) Best interview they did. First Officer Jeff Skiles is very funny as is the moment near the end with Donna Dent discussing “brace for impact” (6:00).
February 10, 2009
Capt Sullenberger, First Officer Jeff Skiles, Flight Attendants; Sheila Dail, Donna Dent and Doreen Welsh.
Some previously transcribed comments.
CAPT SULLY:
As far as the rear door opening:
I think it was Steve Martin who did that.
With a name like Chesley, Sully is just going to have to happen.
JEFF SKILES:
About clearing the George Washington Bridge by less than 1000 feet:
It’s better than zero feet.
It’s your job to re-start the engines:
I failed.
On talking about the flight:
I’m more than tired of telling this story.
Are you still in shock?
Going to the Inauguration, the Super Bowl and, of course, The Letterman Show helped me get over it.
DOREEN WELSH:
Still in shock?
Still in shock, I think – I mean, I’m on the David Letterman show.
DONNA DENT: (6:00)
What was the first thing you heard?
Brace for impact.
Ever hear ‘brace for impact’ come out of the cockpit?
No. Not ever.
Long pause. Audience laughs.
Ever hear that in any other aspect of your life?
She shakes her head – they all laugh.
Watch Sully’s blushing face.
