ABC cancels Adam Lambert…again

Lambert posts/videos/interviews

ABC has canceled Adam Lambert, again, allegedly because of FCC pressure. He was scheduled to perform on Kimmel’s outdoor stage December 17th on “Jimmy Kimmel Live”.

ABC spokesperson:

We decided not to move forward with the booking at this time.

Lambert tweeted he was disinvited to perform on ”New Year’s Rockin’ Eve” as well, though sources at Dick Clark Productions, told the LA Times those plans were never finalized.

LAMBERT tweets:

Yes, sadly friends, ABC has canceled my appearances on Kimmel and NYE :( don’t blame them. It’s the FCC heat. I AM doing Leno though. And lookin into something for NYE. It’ll all blow over. Let’s focus on being positive! :)

But ABC is going ahead with his interview with Barbara Walters’ on her “Most Fascinating People of 2009″ special set to air December 9th. And he will appear, as scheduled, on ”The Jay Leno Show” Dec 21st.

ABC aired Lambert’s “bicurious” coming out interview after American Idol on 20/20, so I think the claims of homophobia are misguided.

Tuesday, on Ellen, he said he hadn’t realize it would be the first time his AI fans would see him on TV. And when she brought up the double standard re: gay male performers, he said that he ”got caught up in the moment and maybe went a little too far”.

As far as his GMA cancellation:

I don’t blame them. I got carried away. It was stuff that I did not do in rehearsal, so they were probably a little bit taken aback. They gave me a great opportunity to close the AMAs and I would never want to smack that gift horse in the mouth.

His record sales are doing fine: 198,000 in the first week placing him #3 on the Billboard 200 albums chart.

Of course, Susan Boyle is #1.
