Video of interview

Have to say Oprah was way more interested in interviewing Adam Lambert than she was Susan Boyle. Ms Boyle’s interview (video/text) was a rehash of everything already hashed out and she talked to her for 6 minutes with voiceover and video in it. What’s the point. Ms Boyle did however have a fantastic performance.

Adam chatted about life (his talent is a gift), his decision to make a change from just doing theater, American Idol, Simon leaving (thinks the show will be fine since people tune in for the singers – thought his criticism helped and Paula’s positive reinforcement – but Simon has preferences – doesn’t like country), being gay (the photos that surfaces – never hid it – AI producers supportive), his AMA performance (still doesn’t regret anything but understands why folks felt disrespected – will be more consistent in rehearsals so the shows know what he has planned), how it is to perform (everything’s lined up), how grateful he is (not many people get the chance he’s gotten) and he’s vowed this year not to take himself so seriously and just have fun.

He met Madonna (his guitar player is teaching her how to play), said he was for the first time star struck and then caught himself and mentioned Oprah. Remarked to Madonna that he loved her and was intimidated and she made the connection between the two – Adam’s light bulb moment.

They had a camera following him while he got lunch at Whole Foods I think (people shaking his hand), while he shopped for glam wear (paparazzi). Said “all he does is eat and shop”.

Then he surprised a mother and daughter who were singing his song when he walked in and he sang the line with them and they freaked. He gave them passes for his sound check and they introduced him before he performed.

He performed “Whataya Want From Me” on the show and “If I Had You” for the audience after the show went off the air. Which is probably why the video is available on line.

He wore a fair amount of makeup but not the heavy guyliner, had a slicked-up Elvis do, wore regular clothes and performed sedately almost. Had to since it was ABC and he didn’t want to turn them off again.
