Cubs are staying in Mesa – the question is where and what the voters have to say.

$84 million state-of-the-art training facility to replace HoHoKam Park

Approval of Maricopa County, Arizona state legislature and the voters of Mesa

Cubs would buy 100 acres and deed it to the city

Complex would be owned publicly

25-year lease

Cubs would be responsible for operating and maintaining the facility

Naming rights and control of signage

Wrigleyville West?

Will it look like Wrigley?

Capacity 15,000 fans

Training facilities and four full-sized practice fields

Possibly also include restaurants and other commecial endeavors

Other News:

Cubs picked up Jonny Gomes and are talking with: Jermaine Dye, Xavier Nady (signed 1 year – $3.3M deal?) and Reed Johnson.

SCOTTS will be coming out with Wrigley Field and Roger Baird’s grass seed at $21/bag.

Sean Marshall agreed to a $950,000 one-year contract.
