1-11 Reid press conference (text/video)
Will good old boy Harry be the next Democratic to go?
Don’t hold your breath.
Mark Halperin and John Heilemann published a book “Game Change” about the election, which just happens to be due out Tuesday. In it, among other things, like Chuck Schumer backing barry not Secy Clinton, was an interesting quote by Sen Harry Reid.
Typical white person Reid as quoted in the book:
He [Reid] was wowed by Obama’s oratorical gifts and believed that the country was ready to embrace a black presidential candidate, especially one such as Obama — a ‘light-skinned’ African American ‘with no Negro dialect, unless he wanted to have one.
Reminiscent of barry’s VP saying barry was “articulate and bright and clean and a nice looking guy”.
Another quote that comes out in the book, which was never mentioned when Ms Geraldine Ferraro was getting crucified or even Joe Biden.
Reid was convinced, in fact, that Obama’s race would help him more than hurt him in a bid for the Democratic nomination.
Of course it did. Especially when the press went wild in South Carolina calling the Clintons racists when barry already had a memo outlining how he was going to paint the Clintons as racist and Rev Jesse Jackson went on record saying he wasn’t offended by Mr Bill’s statement. Something that never quite made it into the MSM’s reporting. And the statement was not spontaneous. It was provoked by the MSM taunting Mr Bill that even 2 Clintons couldn’t beat barry.
Of course, the barrymedia knew about the memo and gave him a big assist as always. And then, black voters who had not been behind barry, suddenly flocked to his side when not a thing on barry’s platform changed. Identity politics at its finest – even though 1/3 of the eligible black voters never even bothered to register to vote for “the first black president.” That’s 10 million voters. Without whites and Hispanics barry would not have won – but somehow that keeps getting forgotten. Without all the young white volunteers barry wouldn’t not have gotten elected. Without the predominantly white make MSM trashing the Clintons and totally ignoring barrygaffes and lies and ACORN and Rezko and his birth certificate and his medical records and…he never would have been elected. And yet all that gets mentioned are the racist whiteys out there who will never accept a black president.
And here’s the curious thing. Over 95% of voters were not voting for then Sen Clinton because she is white. How is that not considered racist? That certainly was the case with every person who voted FOR someone else – not against barry. And those white blue collar voters in PA? Simply a demographic. How many black blue collar workers were voting for Clinton? So how was what she said racist? It wasn’t. But the barrymedia sure went to town on it. And said nothing when Donna Brazile called the whitey blue collars alcoholics: “Joe and Jane Six-Packs“.
The whole election process was a damn joke. barry copied his platform from Secy Clinton with the exception of healthcare, which he then adopted almost immediately after Secy Clinton suspended her campaign. When are folks going to admit what happened? Historians are going to have a huge laugh at the mindless people who voted for barry. And dare I say the whitewashing media?
Back to Harry.
Think about how he treated Mr Burris on his arrival to the Senate. That weird uncomfortable press conference and the way Reid talked about Mr Burris. And then there’s Reid’s conversation with Blagjevich when he told blago he didn’t want Emil Jones, Rep Danny Davis or Jesse Jackson Jr because “they weren’t re-electable”. What language did he use then? They’re too dark-skinned and have “Negro dialects”? The truth will be known in June (or so) when Blago’s trial starts and the wiretap recordings are released. Rahm Emanuel’s profanity will make Blago sound like an altar boy.
Here’s the expected mea culpa of I didn’t mean to offend anyone – I’ve been good to the Negros African American community. He gets major props for not saying IF I offended.
REID, in a statement to CNN:
I deeply regret using such a poor choice of words. I sincerely apologize for offending any and all Americans, especially African Americans for my improper comments. I was a proud and enthusiastic supporter of Barack Obama during the campaign and have worked as hard as I can to advance President Obama’s legislative agenda. I have worked hard to advance issues important to the African American community.
And then evidently lists what he’s done.
He called barry yesterday once the story came out and apologized. Funny how it never came up before. Not surprisingly, this came out on a weekend.
BARRY:
Harry Reid called me today and apologized for an unfortunate comment reported today. I accepted Harry’s apology without question because I’ve known him for years, I’ve seen the passionate leadership he has shown on issues of social justice and I know what’s in his heart. As far as I am concerned, the book is closed.
As far as Reid’s concerned. And yet Mr Transcender of Race and Grand Uniter of Change! has continued to allow his typical white persons Secretary of State and the original “first black president” to be characterized as racists. Real swell. On what planet would a whitey getting away with “typical black person”? Double standard defined. Just like JOHN RIDLEY saying “Are you black enough to be part of all this?” He also brought up Ferraro’s comment – misquoted her as saying barry was a “lucky black man.” She said the same thing as Reid – barry’s race helped him. And anyone who is honest knows that if barry wasn’t biracial he never would have made it to Iowa with his resume.
And Heilemann at that time didn’t say anything about Reid’s comments and he said barry wouldn’t have won if “Kill him” didn’t happen. It didn’t happen – right from the Secret Service’s mouth. Out of a packed rally – with extra SS agents and law enforcement – only one person heard the phantom words – a reporter DAVID SINGLETON who worked for a paper that endorsed barry. And he was so concerned for barry’s life he went home and blogged about it and told no one. The SS read it in the paper like everyone else and said he was “baffled“. And yet barry – knowing it never happened – said it during the last debate and of course no one called him on it.
Reid also made the obligatory apologies to other Negros prominent African-Americans: Rep Clyburn, Barbara Lee, the Rev. Al Sharpton, Donna Brazile (who never apologized for her white blue collar workers are alcoholics), NAACP chairman Julian Bond, and the head of the Leadership Conference on Civil Rights, Wade Henderson.
And Rev Jesse Jackson who barry used in South Carolina to race bait?
Thrown under the bus a long time ago. No respect for a man who paved the way for barry and who has ACTUALLY DONE something as a community organizer in Chicago.
And wanting to hold on to Reid’s seat, Nevada’s state Sen Majority Leader Steven Horsford, who is a Negro African-American, made nice for Nevadans:
While I am disappointed in Senator Reid’s comment and choice of words, I accept his apology. I have known Senator Reid for many years, and he has consistently been supportive of advancing the interests of the African-American community as he has for all Nevadans and all Americans.
All warm and fuzzy, right?
Not according to RNC Chairman Michael Steele…
