Countdown: Kos, O’Reilly, Kos Poll

February 5, 2010

February 5, 2010

Countdown discusses Kos’ new poll that is complete crap just like his “birther” poll that was completely skewed.

Why did it take 11 days to make 2000 “random” phone calls?

KOS: Their base is pretty much crazy.

I’ve been a nerd all my life.

And that’s pretty much his only job.

Who on this planet can’t see the pattern in all this?

Whenever barry’s in trouble he goes a’stumping and another poll comes out – from KOS – that “proves” the GOP is crazy.

Just like KOS suddenly posted that COLB on his site.

When are they going to realize all this does is make more GOP/anti-barry voters show up?

When is the media going to realize that they are the real fuel behind the Tea Party?

Barnicle admitted it but it hasn’t stopped MSNBC from piling on the teapartiers.

Think Kos’ll be smiling so prettily when the COLB is proven false and it all comes back to him and his website?

IL Dem for Lt Gov Scott Lee Cohen not going anywhere

February 5, 2010

February 5, 2010

Why did it take until after the primary for this to come out? Shows how the Dems just don’t care anywhere – especially trh Dems in barry’s own state that Chuck Todd characterized as only now “starting to rot”.

Pawnbroker SCOTT LEE COHEN somehow won the Dem nomination for Illinois Lt Governor. 24 hours later it is revealed he was arrested in 2005 for domestic battery in which he allegedly held a knife to a woman’s throat and smashed her head against the wall. Police in the criminal complaint noted “minor knife wounds” on her neck and defense wounds on her hands.

First it was his girlfriend and then maybe a massage therapist and then a prostitute, which he refuses to acknowledge even though she was arrested for prostitution 6 months prior to the incident. The case was later dropped because the woman did not appear in court.

According to Clout Street, his ex-wife, Debbie Cohen York, sought an order of protection against Cohen in the process of their 2005 divorce. She alleged he choked her – something he has not denied. Neither has he denied her accusation that he was abusing anabolic steroids at the time.

YORK: Over the past year my husband has been taking injectable anabolic steroids, including but not limited to Winstrol, Cretin, and Steen, and as a result he has an erratic, explosive temper.

Also included: terrorizing their four children and threatening her verbally and physically.

She described rages at their children, his admission to several affairs, and alleged he tried to force himself on her sexually.

COHEN:

I’m going to respond that my honesty and integrity in putting it out there is the best thing that could happen to the party.

He has a point. Several actually. Lt Governors run separately and then are paired with the governors. The governor has no choice and the DNC and Illinois Democratic Party have no say either. The only way for him to be taken off the ballot is if he takes himself off the ballot and he clearly isn’t ready to do that.

COHEN 1st statement:

I have no intention of stepping down or stepping aside. When the facts come to light, after my ex-wife and ex-girlfriend speak, the people of Illinois can decide, and I will listen to them directly. I am asking my ex-wife and ex-girlfriend to come forward and to talk with the media. There are questions, and I will provide all answers honestly and openly. I only ask for time to do the interviews. 2005 was a difficult time in my life. I was going through a divorce, and I started running with a fast group. I was in a tumultuous relationship with the woman I was dating. We had a fight, but I never touched her. She called the police, however, she never came to court, and the charges were dismissed. I realized this relationship was not healthy, I ended it, and we parted amicably.

COHEN 2nd statement:

I tried to tell everyone about this early on. I wanted to talk about all of these issues, but everyone wrote me off, and said I didn’t have a chance to win. Now that I’m the Democratic nominee for Lieutenant Governor, the day after the election, there are questions. I am happy to answer any and all questions; I just need time to do so.

Chuck Todd re: IL politics “starting to rot away on the Democratic side”

Chuck Todd on the Daily Rundown mentioned the crazy pawnbroker Dem candidate for Illinois Lt Gov Scott Lee Cohen and impeached governor Blagojevich.

CHUCK TODD:

That’s Barack Obama’s home state.

What has happened?

This place is completely starting to rot away on the Democratic side.

How blind is this man?

Has he forgotten that barry campaigned for Blagojevich? That Rahm Emanuel had a long-standing relationship with Blagojevich? That Valerie Jarrett, David Axelrod, Rahm Emanuel, Campaign Chairman Jesse Jackson Jr and barry himself were interviewed by the Feds in relation to Blagojevich?

List of high-ranking Democrats involved in barry’s alleged senate seat sale – all the way from the POTUS to his decades-long friend TONY REZKO.

If he thinks Blago is dirty for talking about pay-to-play what does he think about the Lousiana Purchase and the Nebraska Compromise and whatever barry did with the unions?

Savannah Guthrie knows – her face said it all.

On Morning Joe/Way Too Early

They brought up the Tea Party convention this weekend. To the MSM, especially MSNBC, Teapartiers = Birthers, which is absolutely wrong. And they still don’t grasp that some “birthers” believe he is an American citizen – though not a natural born citizen. But Norah O’Donnell doesn’t know any more than Gibbs what hospital barry was born at/in/aound/near.

As far as barry’s arrogant citizenship comment. As you would expect, he puts his nose up in the air.

NORAH ODONNELL:

It was shot across the bow to the teapartiers…a large amount have publicly questioned whether he is an American or not.

Cut out the kookiness.

MIKA BRZEZINSKI:

A lot of this discussion has been ridiculous.

Carly Fiorino: Demon sheep

February 5, 2010

February 5, 2010

*updated

No idea.

Other than “purity” and “piety” and the sheep getting knocked off the pedestal by an act of a power greater than barry (yes one exists) was a direct hit at barry and his bambisheeplets. All that was missing was the newest campaign slogan: “civility”. Change! Hope! Old Washington! Transparency! Bipartisanship! are kinda worn out.

So why not put some crazy sheep whatever at the end so the barrymedia plays it over and over?

Made for Senate candidate and former Hewlett Packard CEO Carly Fiorino (R-CA). The senate seat is now held by Sen Boxer.

“Demon Sheep”

GCrowdy

If that wasn’t what was intended then “Carly for California” is paying folks inspired by medicinal inhalations.

Blago re-indicted, 8 additional charges

February 5, 2010

February 5, 2010

Rod Blagojevich was technically re-indicted by the federal grand jury aka “Second Superceding Indictment” with 8 additional counts: racketeering, attempted extortion, bribery, conspiracy to commit bribery and conspiracy to commit extortion for a total of 24 counts.

His co-defendants on this indictment are only Alonzo Monk and Rob Blagojevich. The government plans on trying William Cellini on the previous indictment. Defendants Harris and Monk did not have any charges added and are not expected to.

barry jokes about his citizenship at Prayer Breakfast

February 5, 2010

February 4, 2010

birth certificate posts

Massachusetts special election and the Illinois primary seem to have had no effect on barry’s arrogance. If anything it has unleashed it – in the SOTU, in his lecture to the Republicans and today at the Prayer Breakfast. Which was run by the Fellowship that maybe/is involved in Uganda’s attack on homosexuals.

A few highlights:

…my outstanding Vice President

I want to commend Secretary Hillary Clinton on her outstanding remarks, and her outstanding leadership at the State Department.  She’s doing good every day.

No mentions of Muslims or a mosque:

By evangelicals at World Relief.  By the American Jewish World Service.  By Hindu temples, and mainline Protestants, Catholic Relief Services, African American churches, the United Sikhs.  By Americans of every faith, and no faith, uniting around a common purpose, a higher purpose.

He jokes about caning – which is a prescribed Sharia Law punishment. Recommended punishment for a woman who drank a beer two years previous.

We haven’t seen any canings on the floor of the Senate any time recently.

Seems he’s figured out he’s Washington:

…that those of us in Washington are not serving the people as well as we should.

And here emboldened by laughter, he continues:

Hardball

Civility also requires relearning how to disagree without being disagreeable; understanding, as President [Kennedy] said, that “civility is not a sign of weakness.” Now, I am the first to confess I am not always right.  Michelle will testify to that.  (Laughter.)

But surely you can question my policies without questioning my faith, or, for that matter, my citizenship. (Laughter and applause.)

Sure hope Rep Nathan Deal heard that.

Need to check and see if there has been an update.

barry’s bud Giannoulias wins by losing 61.1% of vote

February 4, 2010

February 4, 2010

Dem Lt Gov candidate Scott Lee Cohen

They were worried before – but now they should be actively concerned, and yet they’re stuck. Alexi Giannoulias, barry’s basketball bud was not one of barry’s choices on “the list” that was transmitted to Blago via Blago’s good buddy Rahm Emanuel. Instead it was Dan Hynes, who opposed Pat Quinn for governor (and barely lost), Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan, Valerie Jarrett, Tammy Duckworth and Rep Jan Schakowsky. So it’s clear the WH had their own doubts in Nov 2008.

Who did barry endorse for his own senate seat?

No one.

Did the press ask why?

No.

Sen Scott Brown’s election begged the question why Ted Kennedy, when he knew he would no longer physically be able to be present in the Senate, did not actively get involved in seeking a successor. Inevitability never works as a political strategy and folks who don’t believe Rep Mark Kirk can be elected to barry’s seat must be living outside Illinois.

barry’s people will not be able to go after Kirk on very many issues. barry hater and delusional senatorial Republican candidate Andy Martin questioned Kirk’s sexuality and was thrown out of the Republican party. Kirk just returned from his second tour in Afghanistan and he is vehemently opposed to bringing Gitmo people to Thomson – something shared by the majority of state residents. Should, God forbid, another terrorist attack take place on our soil, Kirk’s win will virtually be sealed.

But, as most folks do not know, Arab American money runs Illinois politics and before he was convicted, Syrian-born TONY REZKO (barry’s decades long friend) was the main man. The largest population of Palestinian Americans in the US live in the Chicagoland area and the most radical mosque in the US run by the Muslim Brotherhood (parent to Hamas and al Qaeda) is in Bridgeview (Bridgeview Mosque). That money may well mean the difference in the race and one doesn’t have to point out how much they have invested in barry. In addition to the fact that Kirk said some “inartful” but proven correct statements about profiling young Arab males back in 2005.

So it depends on how much the RNC is truly aware of Illinois politics – no Republicans hold statewide office at present – and whether they realize how much the loss of barry’s seat, like Ted Kennedy’s, would mean on the national scene. If Kirk goes up in the polls early, it would have a cascade effect in neighboring states, especially Indiana.

Recall also that Rod Blagojevich’s trial will start in June, which will reveal the dirty trail all the way to the White House – see list of Dems personally involved in alleged seat sale. TONY REZKO, barry’s chief fundraiser in all his elections except for the presidential (because he was on trial and then in jail) will take center stage. Blago’s lawyers will make sure Rezko’s connections to barry are pointed out because barry said he and his people had no improper interaction with Blago and the (one can only hope) no longer infatuated barrymedia might just look into the matter to save their own reputations. Not holding my breath. But the blogsphere will light up again and for Kirk that might just be enough.

Most definitely, the Giannoulias family bank, Broadway Bank’s connections to REZKO and Blago will be revealed in detail – if not in trial – by the papers covering it. It snuck in only at the end of the primaries. The Republicans would be wise to hammer away at that early and often. Odds are, if they look close enough, there will be something that ties barry to them as well.

Although convicted, REZKO is still awaiting sentencing. Contrary to some stories, Rezko is not “willingly” in jail. His bond was revoked before the trial began and his sentencing was delayed “indefinitely” once he decided to cooperate with the Feds. Meaning his level of cooperation will determine his sentence. But in the background, Rezko still has outstanding charges in Las Vegas stemming from $450K in bad checks. Checks that were written on his Broadway Bank account. No way that is going to disappear before the general election.

Anger is anger, and there is no doubt to everyone outside Washington, barrymedia and the WH, that Americans are angry. Massachusetts proved that even if barry hasn’t taken heed. Banks and Wall Street are pissing folks off bigtime – and rightfully so – which means Giannoulias’ mismanagement of Bright Start with Oppenheimer funds and his family’s bank are going to be major targets. Granted he was able to save 600 jobs at Hartmarx in Des Plaines – well publicized through barry – they made his election night and inauguration suits/tux – but that will be offset by the 11.1% unemployment rate with 51,925 jobs and the 709 firms lost in Illinois in 2009, as well as the $12.8B budget deficit.

How many fundraisers will barry be attending over the summer when Blago’s trial is ongoing? barry is going to be anywhere but Chicago. Giannoulias is going to be on his own and if you’ve ever seen him speak – it’s clear he is going to have trouble – especially in a debate against Rep Kirk. During his victory speech, Giannoulias (33) looked like a spolied frat boy thanking his buds, his suit ill-fitting and the collar of his shirt too big for his neck.

You can be sure there will be plenty of pix of Rep Kirk in uniform – as there should be. Not since WWII has an active member of Congress being deployed to an area of active combat as a Reservist. Giannoulias cannot touch the wars because of his opponent and because he has never served in the military.

Giannoulias in post victory interview with NBC:

Come November, Congressman, your days as a Washington insider are over.

He’s going to portay himself just like barry and how hollow is that going to sound – especially when Rep Kirk actually has legislative experience and achievements? And it sounded so lame coming out of his mouth since he hasn’t even been around long enough to understand Chicago politics. His work history = his family’s bank + State Treasurer. Folks soured pretty quickly over barry because he has no experience – sending someone from Illinois with no experience when IL residents really need someone who knows what they’re doing is not going to be easy – even if he’s a Democrat. That’s why IL residents weren’t that upset about Mr Burris’ appointment – he at least knew what to do when he got to the senate, however he got there. Had Blago appointed Giannoulias – or any whitey – the outrage would have been overwhelming, which of course, Blago knew.

Low voter turnout in general may mean folks overall aren’t that angry – good for Republicans. It also may mean Democrats weren’t fired up like they were for barry.  Independents have probably had it banking on an unknown and fed up Dems want somebody who can get something done and Reps are never going to vote for a friend of barry’s.

By the time the election comes around, folks are going to care about jobs – their own livelihoods – not barry’s or “Washington” as he likes to say and Republicans are the ones energized not democrats. They all put their own reputations on the line for barry and barry did not come through – they’re not going to do it again. Unless something happens to Kirk, or something comes out that hasn’t come out in his other 5 races, he should be moving on up to the Senate.

Bottom line: Alexi is on his own.

Reality: the WH didn’t think he could win a year ago and he’s done nothing in the interim to increase his chances and the WH has increased the chances of his loss.

Outcome: will hinge on how aggressive the RNC decides to be, national security, jobs, budget deficits, Giannoulias’ ability to speak publicly and withstand the family attacks.

Unknown: what will be revealed in blago’s trial – about all the Dems involved – local, state and national, including Giannoulias and the WH.

Thought for the day: What better indictment of barry than the loss of his own senate seat and that of the man whose endorsement got him into the White House?

Primary results:

GIANNOULIAS 38.9
DAVID HOFFMAN 33.8
CHERYLE JACKSON 19.7
ROBERT MARSHALL 5.7
JACOB MEISTER 1.8

Most notably – JESSE JACKSON JR – did not run

I live in Chicago and I can’t tell you who Hoffman, Marshall or Meister are and yet they got 25.4% of the Democrat vote.

Dem voters outnumbered Rep (900K – 740K) but Kirk’s vote count (419,149) outnumbered Giannoulias (351,120). barry’s winnning tally was 655,923 and Ryan’s 234,791. Still 43% of Republicans did not vote for Kirk.

Kirk is not far behind on cash on hand ($2,213,890) vs Giannoulias ($2,429,549).

Add also that Kirk has run for a national office 5xs and won – Giannoulias just statewide and just once. And behind the scenes Giannoulias will have WH help but not publicly and Rep Kirk will have the power of the RNC behind him.

Other things in his favor:

Youthful 50 vs spoiled fratboy 33

His divorce was finalized during his primary campaign (July 2009).

They had no children and reportedly (unlike Jack & Jerri Ryan) they remain friends.

Andy Martin’s attack ad questioning Kirk’s sexuality was met with laughter.

He is one of only two in the Congress in the Reserves.

Has won his seat five times in a row in a Democratic district.

Is pro-choice and opposes federal funding of abortion.

He speaks fluent Spanish, having gone to school in Mexico.

Spanish-speaking Illinoians far outnumber Greek-speaking ones

Proven fundraiser

Outspoken against China, Iran, and has picked apart barry’s estimate of the uninsured.

About as much a centrist as a Republican can get.

And the best part of the primaries?

Blago’s kooky old auntie, Judy Baar Topinka, crawled out of the attic to join the race for IL Comptroller.

Rachel Maddow Show

Clips of various comments. Ends with Adm Mullen saying in no uncertain terms that it’s not about command influence – it’s about leadership – which he takes very seriously. I no longer have doubts about Adm Mullen’s convictions. In fact, I believe he and Secy Gates have shown more conviction than barry.

Sen McCain Hardball 2006:

The day the leadership of the military comes to me and says,’Senator, we ought to change the policy’ then I think we ought to consider seriously changing it. Because those leaders in the military are the ones we give the responsibility to.

*Spokeswoman: Adm Mullen and Secy Gates were speaking as individuals.

ADM MULLEN:

It does go to a fundamental principle with me, which is everybody counts.

And part of the struggle back to the institutional integrity aspect of this – and putting individuals in a position that every single day they wonder whether today’s going to be the day. And devaluing them in that regard just is inconsistent with us as an institution.

I have served with homosexuals since 1968. Senator McCain spoke to that in his statement. Everybody in the military has. And we understand that.

So it is a number of things which cumulatively for me personally get me to this position.

Sen Sessions, for me, this is not about command influence, this is about leadership.

And I take that very seriously.

Sen Sessions re DADT:

I don’t think that they’re required to lie about who they are. I think that is an overstatement.

What planet is this man on?

http://crazyabouttv.com/Images/myfavoritemartian.gif

Rachel Maddow had Lt Col Fehrenbach on to discuss today’s hearing. He said he was disheartened and disappointed with what Sen McCain said because McCain is a personal hero of his and that McCain was THE reason Fehrenbach joined the Air Force and was THE reason he had stayed in the AF so long. [his emphasis] He said he felt he owed a personal debt to Sen McCain and his generation.

How is a man like this considered a liability? Sen McCain’s years of suffering inspired a young man to join the AF to risk his own life as repayment to a generation that went before him. How many people have such a conviction – straight, gay or neutered? This whole thing is insane.

It was a revelation. Fehrenbach has never mentioned this before the times I’ve seen him. Also found out it was a civilian who outed him. I hope that very very small person is proud of  what he did – as in tried to ruin an unblemished record and have a decorated pilot and true hero discharged. What motivates such spite? How can an American be so selfish?

What LC Fehrenbach (or any servicemember) does in the privacy of his/her non-military life is nobody’s business. The Pentagon didn’t have any problem when they handpicked him to protect the skies on 9-11. So why the change in judgment now?

And how much are these studies going to cost?

13.5K servicemembers have been discharged for no reason other than their sexual orientation – something they did not choose any more than someone “chooses” to be heterosexual. It costs millions of dollars to train someone like LC Fehrenbach and there is no price that can be attached to 88 successful combat missions. And at present there are 65K gay servicemembers serving in the military – imagine that price tag.

What are the odds gay men served with General Washington? Signed the Constitution? Fought for the North in the Civil War? Fought alongside Sen McCain?

How many did the present Commander in Chief fight beside?

Can you imagine barry in basic training? Hand-to-hand combat? Picking up an injured comrade and carrying him to safety while bullets were flying?

And yet he looked LC Fehrenbach in the eye and promised he would get it done. A man who can lie to an American hero like Fehrenbach does not deserve to be C-i-C. I think military service should be a requirement for the presidency. At least the birth certificate issue would be taken care of.

Fehrenbach made a good point about how he has served with 25 of our allies who have had no problem with gays in their armed forces. He doesn’t think it should take a year. He said it would take a few phones calls (I’m guessing to the allies) and 30-60 days.

He then said he was very pleased with Adm Mullen’s comments. These are the most positive statements I have heard him say. He’s nort sold on barry’s sincerity.

FEHRENBACH:

I think this was a hopeful, promising, historic day. This is the first time we’ve seen military leaders at the very top of the military make these kinds of statements.

And I do want to just say I was overwhelmed by Admiral Mullen’s statements. I was overwhelmed by his commitment. It sounded personal, it sounded from the heart. It wasn’t something he was told to do – this was something personal and really meant something to him.

Admiral Mullen’s testimony at the DADT hearings.

Have to say it’s a tad odd to see men of this age – especially in uniform – saying the words: gays, lesbians, homosexuals.

Latest stats: 65K gays in the military and 69% of Americans say they have the right to serve.

2009: 428 discharges – 169 women, 259 men

Adm Mullen states the president is for it, he is for it, Secy Gates is for it, the Chiefs are for it, the American people are for it, gay soldiers are for it…BUT…they don’t want to make changes when we are actively fighting two wars…They want to get it right. They’re appointing a task force (of course) and they won’t have anything to recommend until it is done and ultimately it’s up to Congress. (Senator McCain is against the repeal.) Study will take a year.

Read between the lines: it’s not happening on barry’s watch.

West Point grad, Arab linguist and 2-tour Iraq veteran, Lt Dan Choi speaks with Contessa Brewer. He’s dressed in street clothes but evidently has not been discharged yet – though they kept him from returning with his unit to Iraq.

LT CHOI:

There seems to be a lot of don’t do anything. When you’re talking about the questions, when John McCain and the Secretary of Defense are talking about the question of ‘how’. There is not a question of how. We have to end this now. It’s about are you going to force our soldiers, who are willing to risk their lives to protect us, are you going to tell them that they have to lie.

He says some people are reacting to their own fears not the servicemembers’.

Our soldiers don’t act based on fear and fear alone. I think we need to respect our soldiers….Our soldiers are professional, they’re disciplined, they’re ready for it.

Choi says it would “take a matter of seconds” for gays to be integrated into the military (where they are already) not years.

To me, this isn’t a policy issue. For me, this is about my career. This is my life, this is my job that they’re talking about, and they’re going to fire me just because I stayed true to the West Point Honor Code. I don’t think we need to wait another year. I don’t think we need to wait another second to live up to our American values. Do not lie – do not tolerate those who lie.

Rachel Maddow discusses today’s DADT hearings with David Shuster. She says the GOP is trying to split barry from the military – painting the military as having to go along with barry. As if barry is pushing for it??

Also discuss a new KOS poll that has some pretty bizarre results – caveat being it’s from KOS and it was commissioned by lefties.

Hardball to McCain challenger: Are you a birther?

Birth certificate posts
Hayworth: birth certificate/eligibility an “esoteric argument”

For the record, I think it is disgusting that a Republican is fighting Senator John McCain for his senate seat. It takes scummy to a whole new level.

Anyway. The challenger, J.D. Hayworth, who on Nov 6 wrote an open letter recommending Sen McCain for Secretary of State, was on Hardball and Matthews went after him for being a birther. It still surprises me that folks refer to “birthers” as far right wing. They don’t seem to grasp the number of Democrats who want him to produce his birth certificate “vital records”.
