Rep Charlie Rengel had no choice to step down as chair of the House Ways and Means Committee. Rep Pete Stark was named Chairman via seniority but he has a few problems, including a urine fascination, so Rep Sander Levin (D-MI) was named.
Acting Ways and Means Committee Chairman Sander Levin statement:
The Ways and Means Committee plays a vital role on critical issues facing American families, including, job creation, economic development, and health care. I look forward to moving vigorously on this agenda. That means working collaboratively with Democrats on the Committee and the entire caucus, with Congressional leadership and the Obama Administration, and undertaking discussions with Republicans in order to move our nation forward.
