Student loan changes in bill

Chuck Todd runs down the key student loan changes in the bill and most importantly the dates they take effect. As laid out, no present college student will benefit from the changes (unless they go longer than 4 years).

POTUS remarks on signing the bill.

Ends federal subsidies to banks and private lenders who offered government-backed student loans.

Govt gives loans directly to students

Starting July 1st – those loans given out only by Dept of Education

2013 Pell grants to keep up with inflation

2014 Limit repayment of college loan to 10% of yearly income

And if they have no income?

And if he’s not in office in 2013?
