Mayor Daley replacement hopeful Rahm Emanuel denies the WH knew anything about the Goldman Sachs until it broke in the news. As you listen, recall that Emanuel was on the Board of Directors for Freddie Mac where the problems started. And that “The Most Transparent White House In History” refused to honor FOIA requests re: Emanuel’s time there. Recall also that he and barry were in the House and Senate when all this was going down – and what did they do?

His words mean nothing – his body language says he knew and the WH knew.

What’s it going to take for y’all to see the truth as it exists in reality – not the barrymedia?

Note how Rose asks a generic question and Emanuel ticks off his talking points, which he later repeats. His body language gives him away. He is not a rapid blinker like Blago – he closes his eyes. He also shakes his head and slows down his rapid speech when he comes to a lie.

Charlie Rose: What’s the impact of the SEC’s complaint against Goldman Sachs on financial reform, and what argument are you making?

Emanuel: Well, it’s essential I make one point. [Uses fingers to distract from words.] One is, it’s an independent agency. [Second, it] acted independently. I have no [shakes head, blinks] knowledge of what they had done. [Closes eyes] Third, it’s out there.

But I believed [shakes head], as the president did in March 2008, we needed financial regulatory reform. Everybody saw [points to self] the implications of how the financial system, when it went off the track, took the economy with it. You need to get those reforms today, regardless.

Rose: How was it that the “New York Times” knew about this before Goldman Sachs did, the filing of the complaint?

Emanuel: I have no idea. [Shakes head, closes eyes]

Rose: And that soon thereafter there was, you know, literally within an hour or so, the White House was [fast] — in terms of information coming from the White House.

Emanuel: [both hands point to himself] I can tell you with absolute [catches himself] — everybody at the White House found out like everybody else, [shakes head = lie] when it hit the news. [looks away, blinks]

Rose: When it hit the New York Times, you had it.

Emanuel: No, when it hit the news, it is — the SEC is an independent agency, operates independently. Nobody [blink] at the White House knew anything ahead of anybody else.

Leaves the door open for them knowing when the NY Times knew.

Emanuel: I hope Mayor Daley seeks reelection. I will work and support him if he seeks reelection. But if Mayor Daley doesn’t, one day I would like to run for mayor of the city of Chicago. That’s always been an aspiration of mine even when I was in the House of Representatives.

The selective bio included:

Emanuel was a chief fundraiser for the mayor’s first election campaign in 1989 and later served as an aide to Daley. He was a White House staffer during the Clinton administration and after a brief career investment banking, was elected to Congress in 2002.

Nothing about his close associations with Tony Rezko and Gov Blagojevich. Or of how Emanuel took over Blago’s seat in the House after he and barry got Rod elected governor.  And no mention of his Board of Directors stint with Freddie Mac. Perhaps they’re not aware, since the most transparent WH in history blocked FOIA requests to review the  board minutes and correspondence during Emanuel’s time as a director.

Well, there’s nothing that rational about this group of people. I mean, if you look at the NY Times poll of these folks, most of then say the amount of tax they pay is fair – and this is from an anti-tax group! They want smaller government – but their kids go to public school. And they support Social Security and Medicare.

This is not rational.

It is only unified by it’s hatred of Barack Obama.

9 out of 10 of them disapprove of Barack Obama.

When did disapprove = hatred?

And does this sound a little personal?

WOLFFE:

So, it doesn’t really matter what reality is. It is not about rational logic – it‘s about the hatred of the president, who they see as illigitmate and un-American and some kind of foreign entity.

OLBERMANN:

A variation of what they said about President Clinton before the Me Building blew up.

WOLFFE: Exactly.

For this 18% of the population in the Tea Party, there’s nothing you can really do. They are suffering from Obama Derangement Syndrome.

The tenet of this group, which is ‘I want something for nothing and I want nobody else to have anything‘ – is it that overpowering? There’s got to be some self-rationalization here.

WOLFFE:

I do think there is this fear – the idea that the country is changing in ways that aren’t expected. President Clinton was very eloquent about this. That the culture is changing and it’s personified by having, frankly, an African American president.

The values that people grew up the expectation, whether a job in their own lives or what Washington would behave like or look like – these are all changing.

It’s not going to be easy to keep those people on board or happy, but having economic security, having a social welfare system that they can rely on…these things are important stories to tell those folks to reassure them that actually the country’s on the right track.

And the country’s on the right track how?

How Secy Clinton was savaged even as she campaigned for a vacationing barry. How Pres Clinton was allowed to be called crazy and how barry never apologized for any of it.

The 15th Anniversary of Oklahoma City — I’m not trying to draw a total parallel - I’m just sayng we should be aware of this.

This is a vast echochamber – this internet – and there’s lots of folks listening.

And as I say, some are serious – some are delirious.

Some are connected – some are unhinged.

And, all of us who have any responsibility, have to exercise that responsibility so that we’re intellectually honest about our political positions. But we’re also intellectually honest about what certains words might do to people who are less stable.

And then he praised himself for getting healthcare passed.

What minor detail is missing from this report??

Clemmens is in custody on charges including assault and harassment. Bail = $12K.

POTUS Memo: Hospital visitation for LGBT partners

States allowing same-gender marriage/civil unions

Presidential Memo regarding LGBT partners’ hospital visitation rights applicable to only hospitals receiving Medicare/Medicaid funding.

It really only comes into play when a patient is incapacitated without having a currrent notarized/witnessed Living Will on file.

If the patient is awake and competent, they can say who they do and do not want to visit and their wishes must be honored.

If the patient is incompetent and does not have a currrent notarized/witnessed Living Will on file, present law defers to the immediate family. The patient’s physician can override the default if they know the patient’s wishes and have documentation to prove it.

If the patient has a currrent notarized/witnessed Living Will on file naming a LGBT partner as decisionmaker, the hospital is bound by law to honor it.

Anyone anywhere can designate anyone they want to make their medical decisions as long as they have a legal Living Will in place before becoming incapacitated.

So there is no reason a gay couple cannot name each other if that is their wish and both are competent to make the decision.

And that’s the law right now without this Memo (which will take months to institute, if ever) so one wonders its real purpose. He could have signed this on January 21st 2009.

So why now?

Healthcare is passed.

As for this:

The rulemaking should take into account the need for hospitals to restrict visitation in medically appropriate circumstances as well as the clinical decisions that medical professionals make about a patient’s care or treatment.

The patient’s attending physician holds the ultimate control over visitation and medical decision-making in cases where the patient is incapacitated without a pre-existing Living Will. She can override the immediate family member default in favor of a non-blood relative if the patient had made clear their wishes to her and she has documentation to back it up.

LGBT Community:

If this is a concern of yours, talk with your doctor(s), explain in detail your wishes, make sure the physician documents it in your chart and then make sure all three of you have copies of the legally valid Living Will, as well as any family members you may have concerns will not follow your wishes.

Keep a copy in your wallet, your phone, your computer or wherever else. And if you feel comfortable doing so, tell people what you want – the more who can speak for you the better.

If you expect your familly members to fight your choice, make a video deposition and keep a copy with your Living Will.

If you have a chronic condition and frequent a particular ER or clinic or hemodialysis unit or whatever, they can hold one on file in case you become incapacitated when no one is with you. You can also tell your local paramedics, Police and Fire Department.

And as a final precaution, put the information on your body. Get a Medic Alert bracelet/necklace listing the name of your medical power of attorney, your doctor and your DNR status.

If you have a legal Living Will and the medical folks taking care of you have a valid copy – your wishes, by law, have to be honored.

It’s up to you.

ORLY TAITZ, who’s running for CA Secy of State, was initially scheduled to speak at a Tax Day Tea Party rally in Pleasanton, CA, but had the invitiation rescinded at the request of Republican candidates expected to appear – CA Senate candidates Carly Fiorino and Chuck Devore among them.

All they need is a video like McCain made ridiculing “birther” JD Hayworth, which starred Taitz’s ranting on MSNBC.

Pleasanton Tea Party founder BRIDGET MELSON:

We’ve been getting calls like crazy. It’s not worth it. She’s too controversial. This is not what the Tea Party is about at this point.

At this point?

DEVORE spokesman, JOSH TREVINO:

I can say emphatically that the Chuck DeVore campaign and Chuck DeVore himself strongly disapproves of Orly Taitz and the crazy theories she continues to advance.

FIORINO spokeswoman JULIE SODERLUND:

President Obama is absolutely eligible for the presidency and is a natural-born United States citizen.

Wow. Soderlund holds the key to the mystery. If she has the proof, someone should demand it of her and then she and Dr Fukino should apply for the Supreme Court vacancy.

Speaker NANCY PELOSI’s potential opponent JOHN DENNIS:

The presence of a discredited publicity seeker on the same platform with patriotic Americans distorts the focus of our movement, distracts from our common message and gives ammunition to those who continue to question our legitimacy.

LATIMES:

Taitz’s invitation — and uninvitation — are examples of the complications facing Republicans this year as they try to capture the enthusiasm of the tea party movement without getting sucked into its conspiracy-tinged fringes.

Taitz is best known for her crusade to prove Obama was born in Kenya and not Hawaii, a falsehood that sprang to life during the 2008 presidential campaign and that most voters and mainstream Republicans reject.

LA Times were the folks who posted that worthless one-sided digital image of an alleged COLB and called it a certified copy of barry’s birth certificate. And the issue sprung to life the minute KOS posted it on his site.

It was the COLB itself that made people begin to wonder and it’s the COLB that continues to make people wonder – even ones who believe he was born in Hawaii.

Can’t grasp why folks haven’t just gone after that COLB and completely ignored his actual birth certificate. All that’s needed is proof — acceptable to the non-birthers — that it’s a fake.

Birthers already know it’s worthless. They already know Hawaii tried to legitimize it (changing the COLB/long form BC designation for DHHL) without having to admit it never came from them. And they already know the man in charge of COLBs – the man whose name is allegedly on that COLB – admitted he didn’t know what barry’s COLB represented.

CA Dem Party Chairman JOHN BURTON:

If that’s the base of the Republican Party, the Republicans are in very serious trouble.

CA Rep Party vice chair TOM DEL BECCARO is not sure where barry was born:

I certainly don’t have enough information to decide that. I’ve never seen yay or nay either way, so how could I know?

Bingo. There is not one person who can/has publicly named where barry was born – not even the man who speaks for barry – and until someone does, no one can say where barry was not born.

Consultant JASON ROE quoted San Ramon Mayor ABRAM WILSON (state Assembly hopeful) as saying:

Given the things going on in our state right now, the last thing I am thinking about is where Barack Obama was born.

And that’s exactly what folks are hoping for and what barrypeople and barrymedia have been counting on.

TAITZ (don’t know if she showed up anyway):

Look, the truth is the truth. It is important for the public to know. Just like it took some time but Watergate was investigated and there was resolution. By the same token, Obama needs to be investigated.

Yes, he needs to be investigated – should have been investigated – but she shouldn’t be talking about “the truth”.

Until his original birth certificate is revealed, the truth of what is on it will remain a mystery, as will his actual physical birthplace.

The greater truth – who barry is, who picked him, and why he was allowed to become president may never be known. The government isn’t going to volunteer it and the media isn’t asking.

Arctic Circle: 1st solo hot air balloon crossing

Takes a special person to attempt crossing frozen tundra with unpredictable weather. But for French doctor Jean-Louis Etienne (63) it was his third trip across the North Pole – though his first in a balloon. In 1986, he was the first (documented) person to travel on foot and his second trip was via boat.

His initial plan was to travel from Spitsbergen, Norway to Alaska. Snowstorms prevented him from recharging his solar-powered batteries, forcing him to land high in the mountains in Bagatai, Russia.

He spent the 8 days (1,945 miles) conducting atmospheric tests.

You’re right. Hard to call a man crazy when he works out of the Pentagon and has been responsible for the health and well-being of General Casey’s flight crew.

Here’s a quick summary. Go to the American Patriot Foundation’s site (Safeguard Our Constitution) to see his extensive CV and other information.

• Lieutenant Colonel Terrence (“Terry”) Lakin
• 18-year highly decorated veteran
• Served in Honduras, Bosnia, El Salvador, Korea, and Afghanistan.
• Chief of Primary Care - Pentagon’s Health Clinic
• Lead Flight Surgeon – responsible for Army Chief of Staff General Casey’s pilots/air crew
• Highest ranking active duty officer to challenge proof of eligibility.
• Had been asking for proof for over a year – no response.

He was notified in late February about his second deployment to Afghanistan and the need for him to provide “copies of his birth certificate.”

This week he was due to deploy but he refused and went to work as usual.

Army doctor Lt. Col. Terrence Lakin yesterday [12th] met with his brigade commander, Col. Gordon R. Roberts, who proceeded to read LTC Lakin his Miranda rights, and who informed LTC Lakin he had the “right to remain silent” because LTC Lakin is about to be charged with serious crimes.

LTC Lakin had previously been ordered in writing to report yesterday to Ft. Campbell, KY and then on to deploy for his second tour of duty in Afghanistan. Lakin refused to obey these orders and instead came to work yesterday morning at the Pentagon. Late yesterday afternoon he was confronted by his brigade commander.

Before the meeting was over, LTC Lakin’s Pentagon Access Pass had been revoked, and his laptop computer was set to be confiscated.

The message to LTC Lakin is clear; through official channels, he was informed yesterday that he will shortly be court-martialled for crimes (specifically, missing movement and conduct unbecoming an officer) that for others has led to lengthy imprisonment at hard labor.

No way can they afford to hold a court-martial – too many people are aware of what’s happening. And then there’s the simple question of why the Pentagon would go to such lengths if there wasn’t something to it.

LTC Lakin has been asking for answers for a year – all the while still working at the Pentagon – all the while treating Pentagon workers and servicemembers, including the folks ultimately responsible for safety of the #1 Army man.

And he was treating them right up to the day he was arrested.

How can they claim he went crazy?

How would that reflect on the Pentagon?

The simple fact they arrested him despite how insane it would look proves they’re hiding something.

And how crazy is spending thousands of dollars of American taxpayer money on a court martial vs barry spending $20?
