Stanley Cup Champion Blackhawks were the highlight of today’s Cubs-Sox game somewhat minimizing the pitching duel between Gavin Floyd and Ted Lily. Both had no-hitters going into the 7th when Soriano got a double and eventually scored the winning run. Lily took his into the rainy 9th and pinch hitter extraordinaire Juan Pierre got a clean single. Lily was removed and many anxious Carlos Marmol pitches later was declared the winner.

Jonjon Alter re BP: “It’s just another one of these messes that President Obama was left to clean up”

Countdown

Olbermann and Jonjon Alter discussing the stagecraft of barry’s Oval Office teleprompter session tomorrow. And as is always the case – none of anything is barry’s fault, including the BP catastrophe. As if MMS only existed in the Bush era and barry had no authority to do anything about it.

Describes barry’s speeches as “eloquent fast food”:

ALTER: What he’s been missing is framing this in metaphors with language that sticks. And so I  hope they’re working really hard on leaving something that takes us beyond eloquent fast food that wears off quickly so that people can really remember something that comes out of this speech.

barry’s second year.

ALTER: Year two is only half over and alot can happen internationally that could be even worse than this – but right now it looks like this [BP] will be the defining event of year two…

It’s just another one of these messes that President Obama was left to clean up.

Who forced barry into the WH?

ALTER: It’s not that different from Wall Street — alot of ill-advised deregulation and a president, a predecessor who was asleep at the switch...

And barry was asleep for 16 months.

ALTER: I think it’s important that this administration explain that alot of this rests at the foot of George Bush.

That’s their answer to everything. And all it does is highlight how little barry has actually done since President Bush left office.

Alter is the single most infuriating barrymedia – worse even than Olbermann. He will spout whatever necessary to defend barry – so he (Alter) doesn’t look foolish. A tad late for that. Look what happened to Newsweek. And what makes Alter even scummier is he is from Chicago and he knows what barry grew out of and yet he pretends barry’s hands are clean. Who are the ignorant folks buying Alter’s books?

It’s outright crazy for them to try and blame the BP catastrophe – and more importantly barry’s lack of response – on President Bush.

How many people, after 18 months on the job, could say – hey it’s not my fault – it’s my predecessor’s?

Attorney General Eric Holder weighs in on BP. Olbermann leads with the true purpose of Wednesday’s WH summoning of BP executives. And in the end, will barry have spoken to Tony Hayward? And will the media ask?

June 10 Countdown

KEITH OLBERMANN:

“The Daily Mail” of London reporting that when BP executives meet with U.S. officials next Wednesday, including President Obama, they plan to offer to buy good publicity.

CEO Tony Hayward will offer to suspend BP‘s dividend payout, offer to do so, quoting “The Mail,” “in return for calming the political hysteria.” The dividend, the political football now, amid concerns that BP might reward investors with cash while spill claimants are still waiting and possibly even that BP might run out of cash entirely.

U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder today not committed to stopping those dividend payments.

ERIC HOLDER:

Well, as I think we have consistently said it is our aim and I can make this pledge to the American people that the American people will not pay a dime for the cleanup of the Gulf Region, and that BP will be held responsible for all the damages that have occurred. And we will take the necessary steps to make sure that that occurs.

POTUS spoke with UK PM David Cameron today.  30-minute call.

Relevant to BP:

The President and the Prime Minister discussed the impact of tragic oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, reiterating that BP must do all it can to respond effectively to the situation.

Meaningless.

Washington Post gives more detail about the real reason for the call: money – particularly British pension funds. Estimated 1 of every 7 pounds paid in dividends to British pension funds derives from BP.

As for Wednesday’s planned WH meeting with BP executives:

After the Obama-Cameron conversation, a BP official said that both sides seemed to be backing off a bit and that Wednesday’s meeting now looks “more like constructive engagement rather than a public spanking.”

barry’s ass kicking would probably equate to a spanking.

Fallon: “Obama would be the least scary bully of all time”

Who is Alvin M Greene? (Olbermann video)

June 13, 2010

June 13, 2010

Alvin M Greene, 32, military veteran is the duly elected Democratic nominee for SC senate seat (opposing Jim DeMint) and Rep Jim Clyburn knows nothing about him. No one does. Mr Greene won the first primary he ever entered, which happened to be for national office, even though he has:

No job
No cellphone
No computer
No website
No campaign office
No state Democratic party meetings
No show at state Democratic Convention
No speeches
No recollection of any campaigning
No political experience

Campaign funds paid out: $10,400 filing fee
Campaign funds on hand: $114

Results
Alvin Greene 100,053 (59%)
Vic Rawl 69,645 (41%)

Who’s Mr Rawl? A former judge and 4-term state representative.

According to Mr Clyburn, there are 2 other questionable candidates, which he called “a pattern”. As in Republican plants. Regardless, Clyburn should know who is running for US Senate in his own state. Though it seems no one else in the state cares.

Think anyone will take a fresh look at barry’s win in the SC primary?

And like Scott Lee Cohen before him, certain personal and legal issues have come to light re: Mr Greene. The main mystery being whose side is Mr Greene on – is he a Republican plant or a Democratic stand-in so the state Democratic party can pick their own candidate like they did in Illinois.

At the mercy of an extremely restrained Keith Olbermann.

Interview begins at (2:15).

Listen closely – Greene’s “lawyer” is feeding him some lines.

State of the Union: Candy Crowley and BP Managing Director Bob Dudley.

He thinks there will only be a small increase in flow and that they will be able to collect the “majority” through the dome.

Effect on the flow:

DUDLEY: There may be a small increase. But we should not expect to see a  large increase, if any….[W]e think we will be able to get the majority through this dome and then produce it up to the surface.

A small increase in what? Once that kink is gone nothing will be restraining the flow and they have to know what the maximum flow would be if the system was closed so why the pretense? What are barrypeople not asking?

You’ll be delighted to know:

And any of those barrels that we bring out, we’ll keep it out of the ocean.

After a month of uncontrolled gushing and oil reaching the shore and families losing their way of life – he still believes their cnn be a “good outcome”.

DUDLEY: If we can contain the flow of the well between now and August and keep it out of the ocean, that’s also a good outcome as well. And then, if we can shut it off completely with a relief well, that’s not a bad outcome compared to where we are today.

It’s way past ‘good’ and ‘bad’. It’s catastrophic.

And by August?

The defining moment in barry’s presidency for the MSM

June 12, 2010

June 12, 2010

Hello euclid0190.

I’m not 100% sure what this blog is about anymore. Pro-obama media bias was irrefutably proven in March 2008. barry has admitted it himself as has the MSM.

It’s kind of strange to behold their anger at him now. Who can possibly spin his not talking to Tony Hayward? One wonders what they were expecting him to do — change? And why suddenly do they care? What exactly was it that made them see him for who he is -  or in their case who he isn’t?

It’s interesting to read Mo Dowd and Peg Noonan and watch Brian Williams and Matt Lauer et al. It’s like that moment when you realize your parents don’t know everything. Only in their case they’re realizing their father talks a good game but doesn’t actually know how to do anything and doesn’t even seem to care about his employees.

And what they know deep down in the remants of their souls is Secy Clinton, Sen McCain, Sarah Palin and VP Biden would have looked Tony Hayward in the face and told him exactly who’s boss. Can you imagine any of them stillholding meetings at day 50 trying to figure out whose ass to kick?

No matter what happens hence that simple admission by barry was the defining moment of his presidency for the barrymedia. It was the first time they asked him a tough question, the first time they heard his answer and the first time they couldn’t spin it. In that moment, the pro-obama media bias bubble burst and the barrypropaganda machine reverted to what it should be: the advocate of the people.

Of course some are still at it and some have backtracked (Matthews) but Tom Brokaw’s face on Morning Joe was proof enough they have finally realized the emperor is naked. Whether they will ever take responsibility for not vetting him and/or for not getting down to the Gulf sooner remains to be seen.

So I guess there are no imperatives here anymore. As the only citizen left I do whatever strikes me or whatever someone asks for. And at this point I’ve had enough of WordPress making money off my words.

Well it’s time for the Cubs – Sox crosstown series, which the media finds more interesting than the fans. What Cubfan wants to watch the SOX for 6 games? This year the “sponsor” of the series is none other than BP and  the winning team gets the “BP Crosstown Cup”. Even though the sponsorship deal was set up before the explosion, it shouldn’t be a Cup. It should be a slice of pizza or a hot dog and it should be sponsored by a Chicago company. And that Toyota sign has got to go.

UK Daily Mail is reporting that Ms Boyle is expected to sing for the Pope on his visit to Scotland in September.

Will be the first official Papal visit to the UK.

September 16 – 19

Pope Benedict XVI will be received by the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh at the Palace of Holyroodhouse.

Papal mass held in Bellahouston Park, which is when Ms Boyle would sing.

St Ninian’s Day Pageant

Beatification of Cardinal John Henry Newman at an open air Mass at Coventry Airport.

Wonder if Ms Boyle will rate that higher than singing for the Queen.
