As we speak, the containment cap is producing around 10K barrels of oil a day to the surface. Which is being processed on the surface.
Q: What proportion is coming up?

At the moment it’s difficult to say, but we would expect it to be the majority – probably the vast majority.

Peregrine Society is allowing them to be named after Blackhawk players: considering Kane, Buff and Niemi for the female.
Depending on how things go – Wednesday’s game might decide what the names are.

Behar refers to the controversy over the mosque as a “huge cause celebre”.
Daisy Khan is not a good liar. Watch when it’s pointed out it was a mosque until it got press (became a “prayer space”) and when she gets asked about the funding (doesn’t answer).
Originally there were no plans for a 911 memorial of any sort. The name is in a league of its own.

May 23 video of oil washing ashore the Queen Bess Island Pelican Rookery, Barataria Bay, LA . Get an idea of how vital and how populated the areas are with wildlife. And since it is nesting time, the effects won’t be fully seen until next year.

One wonders if this man can be any more heartless. Or clueless. As for the initial 9 clean up workers who were hospitalized with complaints of dizziness, headache, shortness of the breath and nausea?
I am sure they were genuinely ill but whether it has anything to do with dispersants and oil, whether it was food poisoning or some other reason for them being ill. You know food poisoning is surely a big issue when you have a concentration of this number of people in temporary camps, temporary accommodations, it’s something we have to be very, very mindful of. It is one of the big issues of keeping the Army operating. You know, the Army is marching on their stomach.

It was the third largest fine ever imposed for environmental crime.

Time to stop with the barry “didn’t ask for it” or that he “didn’t cause X”. He applied for the job despite not being qualified – unrelated to his birth certificate – and he took the job after he wondered if it was too late to “throw it”. He had been in office for 15 months when the oil rig exploded. Plenty of time to get to the bottom of Minerals Management Service (MMS).
1-barry people didn’t know that BP had suspended their top kill.
a-They assure us that Nobel Prize-winning Energy Secy Chu as been physically present in the room where the operation was being directed
b-They assure us that Dr Chu was one of the scientists who warned about more damage had they continued.
c-They assure us that BP has to clear everything with them – which would clearly involve suspending the operation.
2-barry is doing everything he can.
a-No, he isn’t, by the mere fact that Americans being directly affected are saying he hasn’t done X and Y and should be doing Z.
b-He could have gone down there instead of going to SF fundraiser.
c-He could have stayed there for Memorial Day weekend instead of fleeing to Chicago.

Update - Boston.com
NJ.COM is reporting that two New Jersey residents: Mohamed Hamoud Alessa (20) and Carlos Eduardo Almonte (26) “intent on killing American troops” were arrested at JFK “as they boarded flights [to Egypt] to link up with a virulent jihadist group in Somalia”.
Arrests were made by the Joint Terrorism Task Force.
The men were charged with “conspiring to commit an act of international terrorism”.
Homeland Security Jose Lozano:
Two individuals were arrested at JFK in connection with an ongoing investigation. At this time, we can provide no further details because the investigation is ongoing. The arrests do not relate to an immediate threat.
US Attorney’s Office spokeswoman Rebekah Carmichael:
The arrests do not relate to any known immediate threat to the public or active plot against the United States.
FBI agents searched both suspect’s homes.
Curious:
Neighbors of Almonte declined to comment, but a couple who appeared to be family members showed up around 11:30 and greeted the agents as if they knew them. The older man was escorted into the house and could be seen embracing one of the FBI agents in the kitchen.
Both American citizens – neither married.
Alessa born in US of Palestine descent – Carlos Eduardo Almonte naturalized citizen born in the Dominican Republic.
Under investigation since 2006 and their arrest were the “culmination of Operation Arabian Knight.”
They had traveled to Jordan in 2007, trying to get into Iraq, but were refused.
Makes no sense. Islamist terrorists recruiting people to blow themselves up and they turn away two potential detonators?
Seems there is some connection to the arrests in Minnesota where young males were recruited by Somalia’s Muslim terror group – what else – al Shabaab aka “Mujahideen Youth Movement,” which has been linked to al Qaeda since 2007.
Doesn’t appear that it was a last minute arrest like the Muslim Times Square would be bomber. Authorities had received individual independent tips on both men. From above it seems clear family members were involved. Prosecutors wanted to arrest them in the act of boarding so there would be no doubt as to their intent.
Suspects scheduled to appear Monday in US District Court in Newark.

Aruban authorities botched the Natalee Holloway investigation. It was perfectly clear then and is now a fact. Joran Van der Sloot, 18, drugged, raped and murdered Natalee Holloway and then disposed of her body. And then he proceeded to taunt Natalee Holloway’s family.
He presently has an outstanding arrest warrant in Alabama on charges of wire fraud and extortion. He wanted $250K from the Holloways in exchange for disclosing the location of Natalee’s body and the account of how she died.
Now 23, VDS is charged with the horrific bludgeoning murder (and no doubt rape) of 21-year-old Stephany Flores Ramirez, who had the misfortune to be in the same casino as VDS. There was no need for another innocent(s) to die had Aruban authorities done their job.
The question now is: How many other women has VDS drugged, raped, tortured and murdered?
It is impossible to believe he went five years without spreading his evil. A killer at 18 doesn’t wait 5 years – precisely 5 years – to murder another young woman.
What was he doing in Colombia?
What did he do on May 30, 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009?
And what type of family did he arise out of that he would treat women in such a fashion?
CNN is reporting he asked for him mommy “though authorities couldn’t confirm whether she’s coming to Lima”. She knows her son. She knows what he did in 2005. She knows what he has done since then. His father who helped him dispose of Natalee Holloway dropped dead on the tennis court in February.

Outside police HQs, Indian shamans were seen repeatedly stabbing a cloth doll representing VDS: “We’re punishing him so that all the forces of evil are purged.”
As far as VDS’s involvement in the gruesome murder of Stephany Flores Ramirez:
According to Chilean authorities, VDS admitted meeting her at the casino but denied murdering her.
What happens now – no idea – other than he faces 35 years of found guilty. He has yet to retain a local attorney and Joe Tacopina, the lawyer who had previously represented him, said he has had no contact with VDS.
One would imagine that the brutal beating death of the daughter of race car driver (Ricardo Flores) will be met swift justice. One only hopes that in the process VDS will admit what he did to Natalee Holloway so that her family might find some measure of peace.
My daughter was an instrument for this girl (Holloway), so that there can be justice. He’s going to have to talk now.

Update: VDS has not been charged. Has retained a lawyer. Investigators have a week to gather evidence. VDS will remain jailed at the “investigations building of Peru’s national police”.

As of last Saturday, the US Fish and Wildlife Services said 437 birds were found dead – 55 found and saved. But the number has dramaticaly increased: Thursday 53, Friday 13 (just for morning).
All affected birds are being taken to Fort Jackson Wildlife Rehabilitation Center at Buras, LA.
