First Lady Carla Bruni is in NYC for the UN General Assembly and during an interview with CNN she defended Mrs Obama over comments that were attributed to Mrs Obama in an unauthorized biography of Ms Bruni.
According to the authors, Ms Bruni allegedly asked Mrs Obama how she liked being first lady and Mrs Obama allegedly responded:
Don’t ask! It’s hell. I can’t stand it!
Their exclamation points.

MS BRUNI:
Of course Michelle Obama never said such a thing!
I am happy to tell you very frankly that this is not an authorized book. Not one book that has come out about me was authorized. I never read the book. I never knew about the book.
But I do live in France, and France is a free country where anyone can fantasize and print it.
So, of course I could [sigh] do something legal, but, first of all, it gives a lot of publicity to all those books. And second of all, it’s not in my principle. You know — I’m a democrat. I believe that everyone is allowed to say and write what they want, But I am happy to dissociate myself, not only from that book but all books.
Of course Mrs Obama never said such a thing!
Not convinced.
FLOTUS spokesperson Catherine McCormick-Lelyveld denied that her boss said those words as did Emmanuel Lenain from the French Embassy in DC. Robert Gibbs didn’t deny – he deferred to Mr Lenain.
