What stake in the 9-11 victory mosque does NBC have that would compel them to name the nobody 9-11 victory mosque developer one of “NBC’s People of the Year”?
Especially when the overwhelming majority of Americans (and presumably NBC viewing audience) do not want that mosque built there?
There is no possible way to justify this selection other than propaganda.

In the carefully edited segment, el-Gamal (EG), who was picked to be the face of the mosque because he was born in Broooklyn (Egyptian father, Polish mother) and “doesn’t look like a Muslim”, played the victim.
ML: When people hear the name Sharif El-Gamal what do you think comes to their mind – what image?
EG: I don’t know if people know that I was born in Brooklyn, in Methodist hsopital, and I’m an American.
So was McVeigh and the Times Square and Ft Hood islamoterrorists.
They show pix of EG’s wife and children. Wonder what folks will make of the Dora the Explorer party hat.
ML: Do you think they’re expecting to see something akin to one of the radical clerics we have seen pictures of throughout the years?
Who are “they”?
EG: That’s what’s it’s felt like for the last 8 months.
ML does a voiceover and refers to the mosque as an “Islamic community center” and describes the location as on “the outskirts of World Trade Center site”. Is that what you think of it as – the WTC site? He said EG is “a Muslim and a proud New Yorker” who “rushed to the WTC” (again not GZ) and “spent 24 hours handing out water to rescue workers” (truth?) and that “after 9-11 he re-discoverred his faith” aka MINO or MBBO.
Lauer carefully feeds EG the lines.
ML: You said that you felt that as if on September 11 your religion was hijacked.
4 planes were hijacked by 19 Muslim murderers in the name of Islam in order to murder as many non-Muslims as possible.
EG: I look upon it as if somebody took my wallet and committed identity theft and that’s what the extremists have done.
Stolen wallet identity theft = 2603 human beings murdered by Muslims in the name of Islam.
EG attended a 2002 service by Rauf. Alleedly, after 3 sermons said to Rauf that “it’s not fair that only 70 people get to listen this message”.
ML then said Rauf and EG together came up with the idea of the “community center” which of course is a lie. He then went on to call EG “an experienced real estate developer” and that EG & Rauf “scouted dozens of properties” also lies.
EG: It took us 4 years to acquire this real estate.
ML voiceover: The building was abandoned on 9-11, when, in an odd twist of fate, a piece of landing gear from one of the hijacked planes crashed through its roof.
Not fate. It was an intentional act of war by Muslims in the name of Islam.
ML voiceover: We now know it as the GZ mosque – which is a bit of a misnomer because it’s not at GZ but 2 1/2 blocks away, and technically, it’s not a mosque.
That’s what the developers called it until folks started hearing about it. Look up the original plan. And there was no mention of a 9-11 memorial then or in today’s chat.
EG: It is going to be a community center to cater to the largest [unintelligible] residential community in NY state today.
ML: But it is a place that Muslims will come to pray, if it’s completed.
EG: Absolutely.
ML: This will be a center for prayer.
EG: Well, there’s going to be a prayer component.
Prayer component?
ML voiceover: In fact what people don’t know is that the prayer center already exists.
They cut away to ML bowing inside the prayer center. Would a Jew be welcome if there were no cameras?

[EG: There's going to be a facility here that's going to supply aquatics, uh-uh-uh, a gym - just like a Jewish community center or-or a YMCA. It's going to provide much needed facilities to the residents of lower Manahattan.]
ML: [Just like a Jewish community center or-or a YMCA...with one major exception:] This building is located 2 blocks from the site of the most horrific attack on American soil in anyone’s memory. And you say that when you first envisioned this project, it never crossed your mind that there would be controversy over that.
[You seem like such a smart guy, I'm surprised that it never crossed your mind.]
It’s not Islam.
EG: Not once have I held my faith accountable for the horrific events of 9-11.
And that’s the problem, Muslims have a duty to police themselves – just like Christians did with the Florida pastor. EG admitted he has not – nor have those hundreds of millions of “moderate Muslims” we hear about who don’t exist.
Saying nothing against the act = approval of the act.
Completely meaningless propaganda that does not answer the question.
EG: I am American. I am an American who has a specific belief system.
And that specific belief system is? It’s different from 70% of his fellow Americans who say they do not want the mosque there.
He tries Rauf’s propaganda, which is nothing other than Islamic supremacism blather. A Muslim, by definition, is not a Jew or a Christian. A Muslim is a Muslim. Major difference: Jews and Christians do not equate women to expendable, reproductive chattel worth half a man.
EG: [And my belief system] in order to be a Muslim you have to be a good Jew and a good Christian [and in order to be a Muslim, you have to believe in pluralism] and you do not commit atroc-uh-uh-mass murder.
He was about to call it an atrocity but that wouldn’t go over too well in the Muslim world. But the generic “mass murder” could refer to US-responsible casualties of war.
Lauer mentions the cost ($120M) and the fact that EG wants some of the federal funding meant to rebuild Manhattan post 9-11. (haven’t posted yet) No shame whatsoever. The only place of worship damaged on 9-11 – St Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church – still hasn’t been rebuilt. And it appears it won’t ever be.
Lauer was too spineless to ask EG on record whether they will be accepting money from US designated terror groups.
ML voiceover: None of the money he raises he says will come from groups with un-American values.
Do Hamas and CAIR have un-American values?
Rauf thinks Sharia = The Constitution. Which means sanctioned rape and murder = American values.
ML: Sharif, if we sit here on Thanksgiving 3 or 4 years from now, will you still be here? Will this prokect still be on track?
EG: Matt, it’s not in my DNA to guve up or to quit.
